I disagree... For about 150 bucks to 175...you can have new bearings on both sides (PTO and , and new rod bearings..and have it trued and welded. Or you can take a gamble on a stock crank used....not knowing what's done to it. Kawi.... If you want your stocker looked at and fixed...PM me. I worked with 375HP to get two cranks done for him, and I think he's pretty happy...

Those studs are too long to use with the NOSS. You can take my word on that one. Honestly, not knocking Dave's product...but unless you have a ton of cash laying around with nothing better to spend it on, I think going from a Pro_design head to a Noss is a HUGE, utter waste of time. For a few hundred bucks, I can think of a lot of things I'd rather spend my money on since you already have an aftermarket head...

That is one beautiful quad. Is your life insurance paid up....cause with that swinger and paddle combo...I would hope so!!! Or did you just remove 2-6 gears...LOL.. Seriously, nice looking, very clean build....

less power after cool head install?

At 135PSI with 20cc domes in cali...something isn't right. How old is that motor...? I would think 20cc domes on a good motor @ or near sea level would be 150ish...to 160ish. Is it a quality compression tester (not an auto parts store cheapy..) and did you keep on kicking it, with the throttle held WOT, until it stopped moving all together? -

I think we all had a few tenths left if the track would've dried out a little sooner...not much time or runs @ test & tune as normal!!!
-
I would have to say Roger (alcoholbanshee) I think he laid down a 4.2 pass on his bike. It rained real bad for a few hours there....track soaked it up pretty good and they did a grand job trying to grate/clean the track for as much water as it took on. It got drier/faster as the day went on.... I think our friend with a 18mil twister went the fastest...but I never did ask him a time...I think it was 3.8s...not sure.

Too tough of a question to answer... In General...those pipes will respond better to porting and bigger carbs. However....your particular motor might work better bone stock with Toomey or CPI... Personally....I'd get a cheap set of used Toomey until you get motor work done. They hold their value very well if you take care of them, then sell them when you're ready for a more mid-top end pipe....

No..I told her she had to last all day before she could start talkin smack... Now...she can...LOL. I'll buy a plastic number plate one of these days...I just didn't want electrical tape gunk all over the powdercoat up front....

Whoa....I didn't see or hear of any of that till now... Glad everyone is ok...

I'm thinking of selling my 400EX. Much as I love it, the cash could come in handy...and I think my bugs are worked out of my 10 mil. Summer's coming to an end...and I think the remainder of my riding will be at a drag strip or dunes drag strip. Price will be sub-2000 range, good solid bike, great trail/backup bike... Anyone looking for a 4 poker for a fun/play bike?

That kinda sucks...only cause Bob's is having a race the 4th too, I'm pretty sure he said. I really had a great time Saturday, and you really could not have asked for a better group of guys... It's a two hour ride to either for me, out west or up north... I've never run albright, I wouldn't mind trying it. I know Bob's is closer for the West Side guys....but, a lot of the guys that went also live in the metro-Detroit area...too.. Got a few weeks to figure it out...I'd have a repeat of Saturday any day (bike/company-wise.) Todays' weather sure would've been nice for yesterday...huh??
-
Thanks...not half as good as it was for me to keep it runnin all day... Got any slips ending in 4.4.... or 72MPH... LOL Rog...I'm going to seriously think about selling the 400 this week...either way, I can bring 'em Sunday if you want to try 'em...and we all end up in Brighton... Funny...Rob might be buying my new pipes I can't use from me...like one big circle of life I tell ya... Roger, you happen to know what size flange are on the Cheetahs? The ID of these pipes is 48mm...
-
$150 for you...and only you. That's what I paid for 'em...what I want out of 'em!! I'm going to seriously think about selling my 400 and waiting till next year, maybe a 450...maybe a sport ute or something similar for better half to ride... I could use the money now...and summer's half over, I only see one more dune trip, MAYBE 2...and I got the bike I need now..knock on wood.
-
Stock intakes? Yep...you'll have to cut off the rubber V's on them. Razor blade and go...
-
Speaking of...I'm toying with the idea of selling my 400EX Rog... You interested in the 7 paddle extremes for you Zuke??
-
I know it was your old Chassis...I think I remember him saying it was your motor at one time, stock stroke Cheetah (that bastard still runs good...) No juice yet... It rained real heavy until 11 or 12noon. Not as much T&T as many of us would've liked. Track started drying and getting faster as the event went on!!
-
Good point...Brad. But I'd bet you pay a higher premium for them due to going direct to Moto...instead of a dealer... Not sure...just my thought. I got 3's...so, not too worried...LOL.

Detonation is a bad, bad mofo for the internals.... However, stock cranks unwelded are very, very prone to separate. I've seen a few separate on stock motors, stock compression with a slight timing bump, 4 degrees, and pipes/filters. And the jetting was spot on. I agree detonation will tear up a crank/top end/piston much faster than more compression....but given how easily stock cranks separate...more compression is not helping by any means. However, once welded...stock cranks are very strong!!

VF2 show a 1-2 HP more on a dyno... It is getting harder to find replacement pedals, though....

You can flip rims and hubs to go even narrower... And Please turn your CAPS LOCK OFF....It's the equivalent of shouting on the forums!!!

Yeah buddy... I think mine's got a little left in it...too. Gonna see if Bob's got some bigger sprockets for me... Jackie got about 5 or 6 runs...none of the test and tune (our friend gave us the vid camera with 6 minutes of battery time left on it) She got my 3 runs, all three losers...but the last one with me vs. Brady is good...I think my best run of the day, of course I broke out... I don't have the drivers for the camera to upload the vids...I will soon. She's got JT, Dan and JD on there too...(and of course a Jr. Run...) Funny you mention that, Wallace... I just got an email Thursday telling me my membership was up soon...I'll have to renew that when I have a few more bucks..that racing thing is expensive..LOL....
-
Awesome time today boys...let's do it again Sunday. JT is going to check the track out in Brighton and see if it's worth running... JD...nice to finally meet you... Sorry if I was a little short or couldn't help others as much as I'd have liked to. I think since JT and Dan were both at Silver Lake and saw all the problems I had...I was just ecstatic to have my bike run pretty good all day other than the first run... Now I can try tuning it in a little better.... I'll let JT get on here and tell all the good news, I don't want to steal his thunder!!!
-
I think first one to break gets the cans. JT....your bike has been running strong, and I can't seem to get mine right....so, one of us is due dammit!!!!
-
Well...I work 2 miles from him...I can take the motor and all the stuff you want to him....if you'd like. I'm due to get over to his house and help him about a bit... If he doesn't have time, I'll clean up the cylinders for you...no prob...
