  1. Ported right...yes. Kevin will take care of you. 450s' gonna be tough to get out of the hole...they hook and have a ton of torque on tap. But, keep him close, reel him in then blow by him.
  2. Ok...got it. Change the CPIs out for T5s or Trinity pipes. Get a pair of 28mm PWK carbs. Other than that..looks good.
  3. Anytime you increase compression and/or timing, you'll get a noticeable increase. the key is keeping it mild enough to make a difference and not require race or higher octane fuel (unless you don't mind it) rickystator.com for the timing plate. 35 plus shipping.
  4. Not to be a smart ass...but why list all the terrain you ride in when all you care about is the rip roaring fast bike. Don't worry about the part of a smoking motor not being worth squat if you can't get the power to the ground (suspension, setup, chassis) This is an easy one....tell us your engine budget, we can go from there.
  5. Very nice post, Josh. Here's another for the plug chop. http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/plugchop.html
  6. I would agree if it was WAY OVER THE TOP rich...but a jet size or two rich, no issue. I'd say if you really followed the chop instructions/methods properly...you're 1-3 sizes fat. Put one size smaller jet in, try again.
  7. Please list all the mods, including what kind of airbox, lid, filter setup you may be running.
  8. Good luck...So Cal man. You're not getting a Porche for the price of a Pinto...
  9. Properly modded a banshee is king of the drag. For what you listed above...you need a torquier bike with good suspension. Neither are inherent banshee traits. Both are box stock, out of the factory traits for a newer 450 or Raptor. If you're flat broke, you'll spend a ton of money on banshee suspension to even be considered in the same breath as these newer 4 strokes. Then even more on the motor....
  10. Hate to say it....but get a four stroke. Based on your description, it has the power to weight, suspension and torque to do it better. If you rode wide open trails, fire roads, sand...much more frequently, Then I'd say port a nice shee and work on the suspension to make due.
  11. That's a given...LOL. He was going to borrow one, it's being used by someone else. I'd really like a time out of the bike with a bar...but, I'm very happy with results so far.
  12. We build our own crates with 1 by 1s as the frame, 3/4 plywood as the tops and sides. Probably costs 30 to 40 bucks for the wood and screws, etc., but I know my motor is going to get somewhere safe. We bolt the motor down to the crate, then pack it with some foam, plastic bags filled w/ peanuts, etc. I've seen horror pics of too many totes dropped off loading docks. With the reinforcement we put in the crates, they'd have to drop it pretty high up and multiple times....
  13. I guess JT and Firehead are off the ball...LOL... I knew someone would. I figured I'd be accused of a jockey, too...but, pics don't lie...LOL. I was going to post it on PS, but figured why....what's the point. That's nothing impressive compared to what's down there, but for my homies I race with at the track, I figured they'd appreciate it...especially the comparison to what we do at our tracks.
  14. Craigslist and ebay are buyers market, whether you're looking for a new water bong or toilet paper rolls...you'll get a good price. Once you start putting some real money into your bike, blue book no longer has any meaning. It's local market value, blue book doesn't have a clue. 275 for Toomeys in good shape is a very good deal.
  15. I concur... To be honest, I don't know if I'd be running spindle mounts for hill shooting. They're fine for a groomed track...but hillshooting?
  16. Yeah, the lying and BS would piss me right off. It takes .5 seconds to spot a stock cylinder vs. an aftermarket. And another .5 to spot stock carbs vs. aftermarket.... If it's my money, I'm going to know what I'm getting into. if it's for fun...I'll run anything.... I drive 2 hours to not have to worry about the cops, etc., and to get legit results....that's more fun to me...
  17. Yamaha part number 90215-21121-00 Less than 4 bucks....
  18. Yep...sure have on a lot smaller motors...just not the same as a lowered bike with struts or real pumped up Marvins...
  19. Squirell... No offense. On a big motor with a stock swinger, even if you super glued the front end down...one of two things is happening. The back tires are not getting traction...or you are wheeling... There is no other. You simply can not take a 120 to 150 HP motor, on a stock swingarm with the front end strapped down and get traction and not stand it straight up. If you are not doing one you're doing the other... Or, you're not giving the bike full throttle...which, IMO is a waste too. Sorry...just my own findings from racing with guys from stock motors to BIG motors...and RDZ and A&S know how to make motors run as well....
  20. Spoken like a true enraged Dolphins fan...it's ok, what the chance they'll go almost without victory 2 years in a row...? Hmmm... He didn't mean anything by it, just stating big motors on stock chassis simply can't put the power to the ground and be as fast as a "sit down" bike.... I would bet there is more people running 300 feet than street racing like you guys do down there. However.... I'd bet there is more money to be made/lost with what you're doing.... I just don't care for all the deception....here's what I got...beat it or get beat. Have fun in the end.... Like you said, different strokes for different folks.
  21. Yo Quiero Taco Bell!!!! Plus, you like the Dolphins...so, I take that with a grain of salt.... :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao: Yeah, what you guys do down there just doesn't make sense to us up here....no biggie. Shayne, that's our new challenge. Build big motors, stock swingers....and see who runs the best times...LOL.
  22. Or Tunebite. Works the same/similar way....
  23. I do. Closer the better. I run .015 to .018. Have you done a compression check on the bike? Slides in the right carb, choke tube in place? 99% of jetting issues are electrical.
  24. Ahhh.. We call 'em swung out and slammed up here, I've never heard the term stand up or sit down...
  25. Even up...or did he give you some boot?
