Oh it wouldn't add to the price, just the time to get it finished is all. I'll probably go ahead and do it but it might be a week or so with memorial coming up and all but I'll go ahead and do it. I'm trying to be as complete as I can with everything I can think of without creating a 2-disc 4 hour drag of a video.
-
does it bind up if you just drop the top half down and seat it without cranking any bolts in? also is it binding solid? Like "metal to metal" or is it just a little hard to turn?
-
hmmmm. damn, I'm trying to think of any other reason why that would be happening... hopefully someone else will chime in but I'll sit here and think about it and if I can think of anything else I'll let you know...

powder coating new cases...Motor mounts melt?
NitroTate replied to lowbuckracing's topic in Banshee Appearance
Actually that is sheerider's work above but yeah no offense taken I just want to be sure I do the right thing for people and not cause long term issues. I just coated them like that in an attempt to make the cases a little easier to clean in the future is all. And when I do them and I know sheerider does the same, we tape them off really well so the customer doesn't have any scraping or cleanup to do. Customer care I guess! -

What issues did you run into with it on the sides daj? I haven't had a problem with any that I've done but if there is an issue out there that I don't know of I would like to be aware of it. Thanks... By the way did I PM you about my how-to video yet?? can't remember -
Yeah, right now I'm only using Roxio to burn the DVD because for some reason I can't get my Adobe Encore to work. I use Adobe Premier Pro CS3 for editing. I'm good with Premier but trying to learn a few new things with the DVD burning software programs. I just wish I could get Encore to work damn it...

YUP! The best I could anyway without having 30 chapters...LOL There are 4 chapters and when looking at the menu it lists out most of the topics covered in each chapter so you can get back to it.

$400. for CASES HOLY CRAPOLY!!!! That's insane!!!! Go with 'sheerider"!!! I charge about the same as he does. You can trust "sheerider" and he'll turn it pretty fast I'm sure! Don't pay anything more than $100 or so for cases man seriously! -
Ok so here's an update. I have a couple people who are going to be nice enough to review the vid for me so far. Brandon (Mull Engineering) and Jeff (Fast). I PM'ed Lee also to see if I can put a shout out to the HQ on the vid also! Haven't heard back from him yet though. I burned the whole thing to DVD last night and reviewed it and it's coming out REALLY good. Only have a couple little things to fix that I saw and I'm still debating if I'm going to try and record 2 last things that I forgot to do... Carb syncing and how to test a coil & Stator. So after I decide what to do there and fix those few issues, I will get the video out to these guys. And to "Sumo" thanks for the offer and I mean no offense to you or your friend but part of my reasoning behind having people review it is simply for their "respectability" on the HQ. This is so that everyone here will feel comfortable with the accuracy of my advice on the video as well as their donations worthiness! Thanks guys!! Tate

Right... All the pins on the bearings should be laying down in (touching the case bottom) pointing forward
-
Did you put the halves together to check before you used the yamabond and if so did it bind then or not? Also did you triple check to make sure your circlips (the half circles) were all in and didn't move on you cause that can happen too.
-
Give us some close up shots of your crank seals on both sides. The only thing I can think of that would stop the crank from moving (assuming your halves are seating all the way together) is that your seals are in crooked or wrong and it's binding up...

I'll let you know after some of these guys take a look at it for me. I'll be posting up a new thread when it's ready for delivery. Keep an eye out for it... :ninja:

Hey no problem guys. I just figured I would since there's really not been one done before and like you say, watching it is so much different from reading about it. I just want to make sure everyone knows that I'm not a professional builder although I've rebuilt banshees a few times now and always done a good job so with that said, I may not have used exactly the right tools or techniques but hey... who does, as an ametuer home builder?? right? Oh and just so you know, the reason why I'm not just posting the video for you guys to see is that it's 2 hours long and fully produced, edited, and cut. I've already spent more than 50 hours on it... I think you guys will like it. No naked girls in it...yet...
-
BUMP Ok so I'm probably going to ping Jeff (FAST) and Brandon (BLOWIT) to see if they want to review this video for me. Who else should I send it to? NYUK?
-
That's kind of what I'm going to let these 4 guys help me determine. Most people on here are happy to pay $15-20 for a riding video so I imagine it will be around that for an informational video. I'm just trying to determine a fair price for it so no-one is disappointed.
-
Yep, Jeff was probably going to be first on the list...

Alright guys, I'm getting pretty close on my "ground up Banshee rebuild" How-To video (about 2 weeks). This video is essentially for beginners to semi-experienced banshee owners simply as a helpful guide and documentary of my experiences and knowledge. This video is in no way a replacement for a manual. What I want to do right now is identify 4 people from the HQ who are well known and respected for their knowledge on Banshees and rebuilding etc. I will send my video to these 4 people so they can review it and comment on the forum as to whether they like it or not and how much they think it's worth ($ donation), as well as to catch my mistakes. That way you guys will know it's worth getting yourself one! The video includes a lot of what everyone always asks about on the forum like: Advancing Timing Flywheel removal TORS removal Pancake bearing compression testing plug chops Top end bottom end powder coating carb syncing heat cycles clutch adjusting And more... SO, start replying with names of some "HQ Banshee GURU's" that you would like to review the video ahead of time and I'll pick 4 people to send the video to. LET THE NOMINATIONS BEGIN!

Did you take a really close look at your Sproket HUB? If you hit something with your sproket at some point in the past hard enough you may have bent it out of round somehow. I imagine that would be pretty hard to do but if you have eliminated most other possibilities you might want to check it... -
Anyone have one on hand real quick?
-
Keep up the good work Lee, I'll be getting a membership just as soon as I dig out of my financial HOLE!!! LOL (the wife was jobless for 6 MONTHS!! )
-
I've always questioned this myself because both of my bowls have the tube and are identical... Did Yamaha do this back in 89' or do I have two of one bowl type in error???
-
Hey "BlackDawg" AKA "Pate", I'll do a deal with ya, I trust ya. Send me all the parts you have on hand right now and I'll powdercoat them for you and ship em back to you so you can sell them for more money....
-
I don't weld but if you get them welded and need them coated just PM me and let me know what condition they are in and I'll get you a quote Tate
-
No problem thanks man! I hope you like them because I accidently sand blasted my arm last night on the same spot TWICE!! OUCH! I was having issues with my blaster and unpluged the air supply at the wrong time and it back washed the media into my arm and my dumb ass did it twice without thinking... Anyway hopefully the United Postal Service will get them back to you as fast as they got them to me (friggin world record...??) I can't believe you shipped them last Thursday and I got them Friday from MO to CO??? WOW
