It's a dark wet grey. Not over heating, temp doesn't go over 160 because I'm not really riding it. I've gone from 168 mains up to 180 mains and does the same thing. It feels like an electrical cut off to the power band. I've checked for air leaks with carb cleaner spraying all around the intake, reeds, and carbs and no leaks detected. Here's what I'm going to do when I have time. Double check carbs, reeds, and check for leaks. Compression test. New plugs and gap and mag pick up gap. Check spark plug cap resistance.Swap out all electrical components one by one. Last thing will break down top end and see if everything looks normal. Probably some time this weekend or next week. I'm in the middle of rebuilding my Honda motor for a turbo and getting back in my car. Time is limited. Thanks everyone for the help so far! First trip is November 2.

Haven't had any time to trouble shoot any further. Our first desert trip is Nov. 2 and I hope to get this problem figured out. How many people think its an electrical issue??? Could it be a reed? What are the symptoms of a broken reed? I'm going to swap out electrical parts once more one at a time. If I switch everything out and it still does it I don't know what to do. Please guys please help if you can! Brand new HJR 421 cub and I can't even ride it! I'm depressed!

Are you at sea level? My timing is +6. I hope to have time today to change my jetting. I will post results as soon as I trouble shoot some more.
-
I've been talking to him this morning. He said to try the jetting. 48 pilot, 160 main, needle middle clip.
-
My set up before this was a dune ported 350 HJR. It ran awesome for years and never had any issues.

Sorry guys for not replying! I never got my bike running right. I took a trip to Glamis in April and it did the same thing. I'm able to ride it if I ease into the power band. As soon as I give it WOD it cuts out. Here's what I did tonight. I bought the wires and caps from FAST and changed them out. Still did the same thing. I closed my spark plug gap to .024, changed stator, flywheel, cdi, and set pick up to .015. None of these things fixed the problem. Checked for loose wires and ground and everything checks good. I'm so frustrated with this. Brand new cub build and it can't even enjoy it. So after testing all the above, what's next? Mechanical issue? It starts and revs up fine, but as son as there's a load is when it cuts out.

putting shee together jetting help please
bansheeryder21 replied to monstermike's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
I would ask Kevin at HJR. He will tell you want to run and he is usually dead on. I'd recommend 152 main, 50 pilot. Air screw 2 turns out. -
wtb pods for stock carbs.
bansheeryder21 replied to willardwright59's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Just buy new ones from HJR. I think they are $75 w/outerwears -
Ive always used Maxima trans oil 80w. Never welded a ball either and i was running a 75hp motor. I am switching to ATF now though because thats what Kevin said to use.

You shouldnt have to rejet. Next time you ride your bike just look at your plugs just to be safe. They will tell you if your too lean or not.

Should i Port my stock cylinders or....
bansheeryder21 replied to Teo Blaikie's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Like stated above it all depends on how much you want to spend. A dune port and full rebuild will run you about $600. A cub will be about $1100 with no porting. So it all depends on your wallet. If it were me, I'd have Kevin port the stock cylinders and add the 4mil, shearers, and 35mm pwk's. You would be around 80hp. -
I called two different motorsports stores and each one said that the NGK TB05EMA is the right one for the banshee.
-
I founf out the right NGK plug caps to buy. TB05EMA. I replaces them and got the bike running. Since I cant ride it at my house I plan on taking it somewhere on Saturday morning to test it out. I will post how everything goes.

I run my haulers at 4 psi

Kevin is the man! Since 2006 he has helped me out tremendously. The best part is knowing that you get way more than you pay for and you end having a super reliable fast bike!

HJR Dune port and Top end
bansheeryder21 replied to toomeysgoroom's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Kevin is the guy to go to. His port jobs are amazing and he really puts in a lot of work and time to put your bike ahead of the rest. I had a ported 350 duner that was always the fastest or one of the fastest bikes at the hill and drags and was always reliable. You will not be disappointed i can promise you that. Give him a call and he will set you up with whatever your riding style is. -
HJR Dune port and Top end
bansheeryder21 replied to toomeysgoroom's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I dont know much about FAST but i have been an HJR customer since 2006. I am more than satisfied with his work and technical support. He has always been there to help out with any issues and has a good one on one customer interaction. My ported 350 duner always owned at the hill and drags unless I went up agianst a cub. Duning was awesome and it was an amazing port job. I highly recommend Kevin for your porting. Plus his turn around is faster then anyone. Usually less than 2 weeks. -
I need to replace my spark plug Caps. I dont know which ones to buy. Can someone please give me a NGK part #? Ive heard it is YB05f. This one is plastic with a 45' angle. I also found a YB05FP which is rubber with a 90' angle. Can someone who has replaced theirs please give me the correct replacement?
-
I also tested coil, stator, and cdi. All are good. Im pretty sure its the bad cap. Just need to know which ones to buy???
-
I got the wrong one. I tested it and it was 5.5k out of the box. Can someone please tell me what kind they uses to replace their caps?
-
Bought a NGK plug cap p/n LBO5E. someone who has changes theirs, what ones did you buy?
-
Just tested my compression with a auto zone tester. It read 150 psi in each cylinder cold motor. My cub is fully ported cases and all. Is this okay? Also did a test on my caps and one read 4.7k and the other 13.8k. I may have found my problem. Check all the wires and grounds and everything connectes tightly.

Yeah i am lucky! Thanks for all your help since October Kevin. I appreciate it more than you know. Thats why I will always rep HJR. its been a rough season so far!

I've been in contact with Kevin all weekend. He is helping me as much as he can. The thing that sucks is i have to ride it in order to trouble shoot. I cant ride it at my house. I can put it on jacks and do it that way but dont know if it will work under no load. I will start by checking and testing everything as listed above and will post results. Thank you everyone for all your help so far. I am confident that along with all your help I can resolve this issue.
