I ride the Blue Mountains and alot of tight trails. I did it with the Banshee for years on FMF Fatties, Timing Plate, Vforces Reeds and a K&N w/stock airbox. Jetted right it will go places alot of the 4wd guys wouldnt go, only because they were chicken shits. Its not the greatest for jumping down fallen timber but it will do that up to a certain sized log. But yea its not the easiest quad to ride in these kind of riding conditions. Blew up my stocker setup and it took me a few years to build it the way I wanted to. Did a 4mm stroker with MX Harcore port from Kev and some other nice mods. But while I was figuring out what to do with my blownup banshee I bought a Can-Am Renegade 800 and rode the trails with that. Its a fkn beast and I doubt the Banshee will see the trails much anymore. I almost traded my Shee for a Raptor to have a second woods quad but came back to my senses and kept the Banshee. Yea a Raptor would be better in the woods at times but the Banshee will always be superior in comparison because of its reliability and simple design making it affordable to rebuild the same or bigger, better and still keeping that reliability if you build it right and maintain it. A good policy for internet forum replies is, if you wouldnt say it to someones face then think twice before you say it online and if you have to think twice about it then you probably shouldnt type/say it in the first place. I know some of you are pretty young but maybe try to act beyond your years. Brad

Im running a 22" all-track by Maxxis. Been a good tire for me. Fronts are 23's and I like the clearance. Can go over some pretty big fallen trees with no real problem. Brad
-
Thats good to know...We'll see if I can get it all sorted out. Brad
-
So you can ride on public/state land and parks. Otherwise you are rockin a quad that you can only LEGALLY ride on private property. Not worth it IMO... Brad

Any links to the results?? Thats alot of furkin' oil...haha Im really curious. Brad

haha...Well the trade didnt go down. Dudes wife said Cash Only....heh Thats funny to me cuz my wife dont get involved with my bikes, quads, boats, cars, etc...lol She knows better... So I might end up putting the stock carbs on it and see how it does. Then if its still not gonna let me ride for a few hours I will try a 5.5 tank...Man thats alot of fuel, then again it wont be alot for LONG....lol My fkn Renegade 800 holds 5.2 and gets about 30mpg. You rode a 700R and you are considering a Banshee for trails?? Obviously you are a 2-stroke fan so just get a Banshee and set it up for your riding needs. You dont like the ride...Improve it. You dont like where the power is coming in...Change it. You dont like the amount of power...Increase it. Pretty simple stuff. The bike will do whatever you are capable of making it do. A 4-Stroke gives you the chance to pick your way around a steep challenging climb and power it on with some sense of technique. With a Banshee you pick your line, rev that fkr, fan the clutch and rip it all the way up. IMO you gotta be a better rider to ride serious trails on a quad like a Banshee. No bull...I've taken my Banshee where 4x4 quads rode the ridge tops. =) They could have made it they just didnt have the sakk to getter done...

Thanks for the insight guys. I ride some pretty rough trails sometimes and I like the idea of the "Work Quad" description shoopie made. I dont have anyone asking to trade their 450 so thats not really on the table. If it was I suppose it would be tough to decide only becasue I like the idea of having reverse even though Ive gotten by for years without it. Ive ridden a 660 Raptor and liked the usable down low, even though the bike I rode was a total rattle trap pile...He has beat to total crap out of that bike and it keeps running. Saw the pipes right at the cyl. glowing RED many times and it keeps running??heh Granted Im not going to be abusing my ride but it speaks volumes for the engine IMO... Im probably gonna do it since Ive had little to no luck selling my banshee. Brad

Im prolly gonna take some heat for this but Im trading because...Just rebuilt my Banshee (HJR +4mm Stroker) maybe around 65-70hp and its a total beast. Love the power. BUT its also a gas hogg and after 20min on the trail I have to head back to camp or the truck or whatever. Not Cool....Im not going to go backwards with the power so Ive been trying to sell it and now a trade option has come up. Not 100% sure on the trade though cuz I dont know much about the Raptor700 at all. This guy on the coast has a garage queen 06 Raptor700 with less than 20 hours on it and no engine mods. I think Im gonna do it...I can always pick up another Banshee and build it like I had my old one but this one is not going to work for me. Shame too cuz I put alot of money and effort into it. Brad

4mil crank & a stock crank?
cudaz101 replied to 252wheelieking's topic in General Banshee Discussion
yea...Not the best place to save money unless you know and completely trust the guy. If you are gonna do it I would suggest that you go with all new internals so you know what ya got. Save money buying used Reeds, intakes, carbs, head, etc.... Brad -
Never thought I would be doing this but....Here it goes. Mods are listed below. Im located in Pullman Washington, South of Spokane Washington by 60miles. Im not interested in parting the bike out, I would just hold on to it if I cant sell. Not hard up for cash so dont bother with lowball offers. The bike was just rebuilt and I just did get the jetting right. Only rode it on the trails once, the rest was just jetting runs. So a total of maybe 2 hours on the engine now. Selling only because its not practical for my type of riding the way it is since the engine replacment. Im not going backwards with the power to make it a better trail bike. I have a 800 Canam Renegade for that anyways. I just thought it would be nice to take the Banshee to the woods every so often for a change but its not practical for where I like to ride. So its up for sale. Comes with any spare parts I have as well. $4500obo I can be contacted @ [email protected] Engine is by HJR (Kevin Herr): MX Hardcore Port (stock cyls) 66.5mm blaster pistons by Weisco +4mm Carnk by Hot Rod 115mm Rods by Hot Rod All seals and bearings replaced NOSS Head w/matched Dome set for pump fuel Billet water pump Inline water temp gauge V-Force2 Reed Set (good pedals) Chariot 2pc billet intake (35MM) 35MM PWK Keihn carb set 6" K&N pods w/outerwears Dual Feed Pingle FMF Fatty Pipe set w/turbine core2 silencers Ricky Stator Adjustable timing plate EBC Dirt Digger Clutch (Been a great clutch) Twist Throttle Kit i-shock suspension (fronts New) These are some stout shocks. Stocker Rear Shock (good) T9 Baja wheel set (stock wheel set as well) None of the bling stuff on this bike. Its all business and with Kev's engine it flat-out moves. If you ride tight trails with elevation changes of 3K ft.+ then I would not recomend this bike. It burns alot of fuel in a hurry as well...haha Kevin says the conservative numbers on the engine is 65-70hp and I would say thats probably right. I can take more photos if need be.

Took me awhile to report back but yea...It worked. I think the problem was the BOSS intake all along. Should have a not with them recomending a gasket sealing type RTV to save ppl some time, headaches and even damage. Thats my opinion anyways. At least now I can finally take it out and start dialing it in. Thanks alot for the quality help. Brad

Thanks for the reply Kev!! Hope you found some time to play last weekend. Ive been busy as a cat burryin shit so Ive only been messing with this thing when I have time to. So I just did get a chance to seal up everything again yesterday and Im going to test fire the bish this morning. This thing has me second guessing myself...lol I will report back here with the results. Brad
-
Right on....Well I think Im going to take that thing apart and seal it up before I move ahead with bigger pilots then. Thanks for the reply bruv. Brad
-
Went up to a 50 pilot and it cleaned up a lil bit. Maybe the 52 will fix it. Im hoping so. If that dont work that fkn boss intake is coming off. Ive thought it could be the problem all along. Anyone have any problems with the 2pc section that is sealed up by o-rings?? I didnt use anything on these surfaces besides grease when I put the intake together with the set screws. But I doused it with starting fluid and get nothing...heh Brad
-
I put the clip back at the middle position and the needle did have letters on it. I was looking for a number...heh (my bad) Its a CEL needle and the originals were DWK. Brad
-
Oh thanks for the added details of your setup and what you went through. I went and picked up a set of 50 & 52 pilots. Tried the 50's first and it got better but still some backfire. So Im going to swap out to 52 and see what results I net. I did go back to the needle in the middle and 2 turns out on the air screws as well. Checked my pickup clearance and played with the timing a lil bit. I think Im CLOSE =) I could just call Kevin but I hate bothering the guy. He seems pretty busy. Thanks again.

thanks for taking the time to post. Whats your Elevation??

Just got this thing back together and I guess Im a bit rusty with my jetting skills. Plus I have never messed with the 35MM PWK's. So far I really like them over the stock carbs. Alot easier to play with the needle. Anyways... New Rebuild: +4mm Stroker 115MM rods Blaster pistons (intake ports are correct) HJR MX hardcore porting Adjustable timing plate @ 0 deg timing Boss Intake Vforce Reeds K&N Pods FMF Fatty pipes w/powercores Noss cool head 2700ft above sea level 35MM PWK's : 158 Mains : 48pilot : Needle is @ bottom Clip : Air Screw 1 turn from zero. The Main jets, pilots and needles were sent with the carbs (Kevin Herr) the needles have me a bit stumped though because they are the same length as the ones that came with the carbs origonally and I dont see a number on them anywhere. Kevin recomended the needle in the middle and 2-21/2 turns from zero on the air screws. I tried that and alot of other settings. So whats listed above is what Ive come up with having the least amount of backfire. Now its less backfire but boggy. I have the carbs synced perfect and checked them every time I changed the needle position. Im totally stumped at this point. I did pull everything apart to the reed cages and sealed everything up. I cant get it to show any signs of air leaks using starting fluid on all the intake pieces. From what Ive read Im thinking my pilots might be a size or two too small?? I dont think Ive left anything out that would help. Thanks

Its workin' now Loco!! THX!!! Brad -
I have a Renegade 800 and a Banshee. Its close but my Renegade only has 26" tires. I think the 28" tires are slowing him down a bit. The Gade is decievingly quick and fast. With serious mods to the Renegade you are in serious trouble. =) Love my Banshee though. Completely differant kind of ride. Hard to believe you are able to take care of a Banshee with pipes. Must be some really good porting. Brad

yep...I rode a outlander 800 and thats what got my attention drawn towards them to begin with. With the Renegade available I could not force myself to go with the Outlander but regardless very nice quad. Glad you diggin yours.
