See that's the problems Loco, is people think if they want to take these risks, no one else is affected. Some of these accidents result in paraplegia paralization requiring life long care. Who pays for this? We all do, whether medicare medicaid, insurance company, we all do. People wonder why insurance and medical care is so high. This is part of the problem. It affects too many people and the government steps in. It sucks no doubt, but I want to be able to afford to take my kids to the hospital when they have an ailment. This is basically the same issue with helmet laws and traumatic brain injury claims. It costs us all millions of dollars every year cause of kids or whoever rislking life and limb running around without helmets. You where a helmet don't you? Seat belts shouldn't be any different. Maybe it's just the stigma that it is required by law. There are no easy answers but it helps to know the bigger picture. I just think it's more important that my family has reasonable health care costs so I can afford to keep them healthy and some guy out there's trying to do a triple for the first time running up my health care costs. Just my .02.

Although a twist is a lot more comfortable for long cruising rides, I just don't like them otherwise. On motorcycles they are better but for a quad where the jarring effect of 4 tires vs 2, it's hard to maintain an even and predictable throttle control. I tried a twist for a while and it gave me a sore back, so off it came.

Interesting article. Yea if too many people are getting hurt, you can bet the government will step in and put regulations on it. The reason is these accidents are not just costing the injured person, it affects all of us. Someone has to pay for these injuries that may require life long care.

I can't tell you the miles, but I go through a tank about every 2 hours riding the dunes. Of course this is going to eat up a lot more gas than dirt riding.

You were probably revving the piss out of it and it was clearing some of the oil settled at the bottom of your crank case. This is common and wouldn't worry about it. Also check your plugs, rich condition will magnify this. No harm though.
-
Yea that's sound right on. BTW, thanks a ton.

Don't forget to use loc-tite on all your accessory stuff, especially the timing plate screws and anti-sieze where the flywheel goes on the crank. You will be thankfull later, that you did..

That is correct.

JKJK, thanks a ton.

What is the inner diameter of the radiator hose on the shee? Also need to know the size of the tie rod slotted hex nut/castle nut, the nut that holds it on the spindle arm, thread pitch and diameter? Is there a difference on the size and pitch of the rod threads that go inside the tie rod itself compared to the spindle arm? Thanks in advance fella's.

Mark your carrier and make sure, take a magic marker and put a line on the carrier and side of housing. Man I've just never heard of one turning inside the carrier with the bolts tight. Yea and those chains shouldn't stretch any if at all. Your just going to have to do a process of elimination to find what it is. I run the DID x-ring and Jannsen +4 swinger. Yet to have any problems so far. I only had to tighten my chain once after the intial ride then it has stayed within tolerances.

Thanks for the info BG, I've been looking at possibly getting the cool hose like they make for cars and trucks. It is chromed aluminum and should really help with cooling. It would be like have a cooling fin the entire length of your hose. I just need to see if they make the right diameter. They are easy to fit to length since you can cut them.
-
That may be your chain stretching. Or is your carier turning inside the housing? Jack the back wheels off the ground, take chain off and turn the axle and see if you are experiencing any resistance. May have a bearing problems as well. Check these things and make sure your carrier pinch bolts are tight and not coming loose.

Hey Holyman, or anyone else, have a clue what size the banshee fittings are? Is there a certain style of threads on fittings or are they all the same, maybe just different diameters? I have absolutely no freakin clue,

Ride one and it will make sense real QUICK!!

Thanks Dave, that's exactly what I was referring to. Deflectors that direct flow coolant down around the cylinders. Yea, they did says there head was the only head that flows exactly like the stock head. Coud be a slaes pitch I dunno. Duc, wrong side of the dome. Talking about where the water flows around the domes.

I remember some people were looking for them and I just ran across some while shopping for SS nuts and stuff. Maybe this will help some of you guys and I may get me some. Hope they have our sizes cause I have no clue what size the shee takes. Maybe someone can post the size. Just scrill down to the bottom of the page, they also have some SS heim joints on there. LINK

Wonder if he had his beer goggles on and has one less arm this morning.

Oh BTW, check with your porter for recommendations on what carbs to use. Trinity recommended the 35's for their stage 4 porting which gives the best top end horsepower. They have some dyno's of the differences from 28mm to 35mm with different styles of porting. Not sure which porting style you have though. The reason they may not have answered the phones is because some places are closed from Christmas till after New Years. That is if you tried to call them this last week.
-
Did Trinity do you porting or are you going to have it done? When I talked to Trinity about porting my motor I told them I wanted CPI's, they told me I would be better off keeping my fmf fatties, which is what I had at the time, if I ran their porting. Maybe Brock can elaberate why but my guess is their porting performs better with certain pipes. I'm unsure but I know it's real important to match your pipe to the port work. I can't express this importance enough. Let us know how it does. Anything I can help you with let me know. Later

Haha Wall, I was like he musta got totally wasted last night. Killed some brain cells in the banshee tuning area of the cerebellum. I always said I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobatomy. -
Hey Dave, give me the low down on the flow pattern of certain heads, I hear some are not correct. Trinity told me that coolheads do not flow like a stock head flow pattern, which is supposedly the correct flow. It has something to do with a notch in the side of a dome. I have no clue whether you guys have this or not. They just told me their domes were the only ones with the correct flow pattern. I noticed these domes were different from my coolhead domes. You know anything about this and can you elaborate on it if you do? I know it helped keep my engine somewhat cooler so it wasn't totally bunk.

If all else fails, Parts Direct has them. LINK
