Building your own A-arms and swingarm
BigRed350x replied to jeepman380's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
What Wyotech are you going to? Penn, Wyo, or Cali? I'm going to UW in Laramie WY. My shee is needing a top end right now, but when I get it fixed if you are in Wyo I go down to Walden a lot. Wanna come? As for home-made A-Arms and swingarm... Haven't done either one, but I imagine the swingarm would be pretty simple. Just use some square tube steel and weld some carrier mounts on one end and the swingarm mount on the other, and toss some shock mounts on that bitch. lol I am doing engineering at UW, and I wish it were that simple. If you get a design, I can do the dynamic loading calculations for you and tell you if it will fail or not. Peace -
Your friends probably read Dirt Wheels. They did a story on that kit a while back (dont know what month issue) and they said some crap along those lines. Said it was a good contender with the other 450's out there. I don't like those Z400's anyway. Yamaha All the way baby!

Oh yeah, and by the sounds of it, I don't think you would be tresspassing to go hunting anyway so you woulnd't have to worry about me shooting at you.

I've had the Wyoming State Championship first place award for competition target shooting three years in a row. My dad was a sharp shooter in the air force during vietnam, and my mom was sponsored by remington on her college rifle team. You wouldn't have a chance of getting a shot at me. By the time you got your rifle to your shoulder you would be dead, so just keep dreaming. And I don't hate hunters, that's not what I was saying. I just hate the ones who do stupid shit. I took my neighbor out hunting on OUR land last weekend, because I was with him and knew he wasn't just going to hide in some tree stand or use some uber scope from a bazillion yards away. He got a 5x6 white tail from 75 yards (distance measured with the range scope I use for competition shooting) after we followed the herd for a few hours into an aspen grove. So Poo On You

You wanna sell that spare set of pipes?

I heard if you use sugar instead of two stroke oil for the premix in your banshee it will like double your horsepower. I cant wait to try it

When I broke up with my girlfriend after 2 years and 5 months, the first thing I did was go out and just cruise. After about 2 hours I had forgotton about everything and was just in that groove. Nothing else mattered. Then when I had to stop and get gas it all caught up with me again, so I just had to go out and do it all over again. Every day I sit in my engineering classes just waiting for that next ride. University of Wyoming and Laramie are pretty lame, riding is pretty much the only thing to do around here.

Has anyone here used any of the nitrous systems on their banshees? Good, Bad? How often do you go through a top end with the nitrous? I ride at the sand dunes around here most of the time, no racing, just like to do the hill climbs & stuff down at Walden. Looking for something to make it a little more fun. What are your opinions?

I bought my banshee as a pile of parts from some kid that had no clue. I don't know where he had it ported, but its a great port job. Looks like it might be a home-made or somethin. Its awesome. I can run with any of the passion guys around here. I didn't have to change the jetting very much when I finially got the bike put back together. Moved the needle clip down one, and went up on the mains a few and it runs like a mad man. Lots of fun. Good luck to all you guys that are getting that dead spot. That sucks. Jump on E-Bay and get a new set of jugs and start over.

I have a 99 warrior with a cam, titanium valves and springs, stage II pipe & silencer, intake, hinson clutch basket, yadda yadda yadda, and I have an 87 banshee thats bored 80 over, ported, intake, yadda yadda yadda... and I spend way more time working on the 4-choke warrior than my banshee. I romp on both of them, and just generally beat the hell out them, but I do the routine maintenance on both, and the warrior breaks down about twice as much as the banshee. The 4 stroke motor has about twice as many moving parts as a two stroke, so thats twice as many things that can go wrong with the bike. I agree with everyone here, if you take care of your bike, a two stroke will last just as long as anything else. I do a rebuild about once every year on the banshee, and it runs like the day I bought it.

I caught some hunter trespassing on our property, so I promptly shot out two of his tires and called the sheriff and game&fish dept. He got his hunting liscense taken away, and cannot hunt in wyoming for the next 15 years, got charged with trespassing, destruction of property, and some charge of attempting to collect wild game illegally. I ride my 350x up and down all of our fence lines and make sure to scare all the wildlife way the hell away from anywhere that allows hunting. I think what everyone really considers hunting is pretty gay. Anyone can kill something with a huge ass rifle and a scope, or use lures to get the animal right next to you to shoot it. I respect bow hunters, except when they sit in a little chair in a tree and lure the animal in. Get down and track the damn thing. I watch theese hunting shows on ESPN & stuff and just laugh so hard. The entire show is a bunch of red necks hiding in some kind of a blind until some deer/elk/antelope/whatever walks right in front of them. Um hello... there's no skill involved in that, other than shutting the f*ck up and sitting still. What a bunch of retards.

maybe he just came off a side berm jumping from the other lanes of traffic. He had to get over the median some how, but realized mid-way that he wasn't on a banshee and couldn't just let the suspension soak it up.

That should stir up some mean comments...

Big huge gay ATV's are for people that can't handle a banshee. Besides, I thought this was a Banshee discussion board, why are you talking about stuff that belongs on the big huge gay atv boards.

I like the idea of a snowmobile engine. Something like the old Phazers, but with a more modern touch. Take the engine out of the SXViper and stick it in the banshee frame. Wait a second, I have a viper and a Banshee, that might be worth trying. I would want a manual tranny though, not automatic.

Anyone heard of running jet fuel from any of the air ports in their two strokes? I heard stories about that, always wondered if you really could, what difference it would make.

I have access to about 40,000 acres in Wyoming for riding. Property is between Cheyenne and Laramie Wyoming. Can't ever find anyone willing to leave Gay-Ass Laramie to ride with me. Anyone interested drop me an e-mail with some contact info so I can let you know next time I head up there to ride. I have a Banshee that needs a top end, and a Warrior with a Stage II top end, A Kodiak, and a Polaris Ranger. I will probably be going up riding again some time in late October / early November. Its free, and all private land. No permits required. We just ask that you sign a liability waiver, so we don't get screwed by some dumbass who can't ride and hurts himself. Lots of wide open fast cross-country type stuff. Lots of random natural jumps, pits, etc. There is also a 400ft steep ass hill climb. Its pretty wicked. I can clear it on the banshee with paddles, but if I run knobbies it spins down into the loose gravel at the top of the hill. I also have a good 50ft tabletop jump I made, and some other small stuff if you want to screw around on that. Good straight roads if you want to drag race. [email protected]

Do you gotta be a millonare to own a shee
BigRed350x replied to Bansheeman1121's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Mine did the same thing, then it just kind of exploded into a huge mess. I bought a clymer manual for $35 and tore the entire thing down to tranny and worked back up replacing everything that needed to be replaced. I am up to the top end now, and saving up that last $200 or so for the new 80 over top end and a new set of wrist pin bearings. These motors are really simple to tear down. Just buy a damn clymer for $35 and figure out whats wrong for yourself and fix it. The kid who owned mine before me had about 5 different kinds of bolts and nuts in the damn thing, some of them were even standard, not metric. It pissed me off so much when I found that. The parts you need to fix one of these things are so cheap, there is no reason not to do it yourself. If you can't handle fixing and tuning trade it for a 4-stroke. I have both, and even a 4-stroke will require maintenance if you don't take care of it. I am working on my warrior right now with a valve/timing problem. They are just a machine, you have to take care of them. -
I know its a pretty dumb question to ask on a Banshee web site, but you guys have helped me out before, so figured I might as well ask. There's something screwy with the timing on my warrior. It will idle fine, but as soon as you give it gas, it will backfire, miss, blow some air/fuel BACK through the carb, and generally runs liek total crap. It will idle real smooth. I think it might be something with the timing or the valves. I don't have a clymer for it yet, but i have some friends comming up to go riding, and I'd like to go with them, but right now the banshee engine is on the bench waiting for a new top end, and the warrior won't go. Does anyone know what the valve lash should be for a 99 warrior? I am getting .004 on the intake and .006 to .007 on the exhaust side at TDC. If anyone has a manual or knows the correct numbers, could you post it here? Thanks again everyone! By the end of October the Banshee should be running again. Bored 80 over with a mild port job. I can't wait to get it running.

how much land is good for riding
BigRed350x replied to derk321's topic in General Banshee Discussion
40,000 acre ranch in wyoming. beat that! We own 5,000 of our own, and I have permission from Bar-X, AX, XX, and Remount Ranch in wyoming to ride on their property, I just have to check their fences for them once a year. If anyone is in the Cheyenne / Laramie area of Wyoming drop me an e-mail and I will take you riding. [email protected] -
piped banshee vs piped yfz vs piped quadzilla
BigRed350x replied to 2K1Banshee350's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!!! I saw a Quadzilla with a port & polish, pipe, bigger carb, and slight bore go up against a 4mm stroker banshee with pipes, 50 over bore, that single carb conversion thing, lockout clutch, cool heads (dunno what domes) some fo those vitos power pistons & some other stuff, and there was a YFZ with a pipe and cam and some other dinky mods, and the zilla and banshee were pretty evenly matched on the hill climbs at the Walden Dunes in CO. The YFZ could make it up the hills too, but wasn't as cool to watch as the other two. They could take any line you gave them and the banshee guy was doing wheelies up any of that stuff. He had the stock swing arm, so it would lift up like nothing. The quadzilla guy was giving rides to people, and would haul some serious ass up those hills with two people on there. Good times -
Also, what kind of power should I be expecting after all the re-build? I have stock pipes, clamp on filter intake, and run it without the airbox lid. 80 over bore, and port job. I ride at the Walden Sand Dunes a lot (about 7500ft or so) What size jets would be a good place to start at?
-
I finially got the couple of screws and circlips that were missing from my bottom end. Hopefully I will finishing up the bottom end re-build some time this weekend. I was wondering if any of you experts out there had any tips for me when I am putting the two case halves back together or anything. After my next paycheck I will be ordering the new 80 over pistons for the top end. What is a good method for breaking in the new top end? I have a clymers manual for it, but just wanted to get some opions from people who have done this before. Thanks
