  1. Thanks guys
  2. I tried a search but it says it couldn't find anything. I know there have been discussions about this before but how are the Alien DMC exhaust systems? Are they more top end or bottom end pipe?
  3. I will post pics soon as I get my digital camera. I took it up to the ranch last time I went and didn't bring it back. I'm hoping i can get pics by this weekend. Sorry for the delay.
  4. Alright, finished rebuilding another one of my 88's and I am going to be selling it here in the next month. 88 J-Arm Frame Lightened Flywheel Shift Star Mod 370cc 2mm oversize pistons (Less than 10 hrs on fresh top end) Ported Cylinders Stock Head (I have a milled head I could throw on if that's what you want) Stock Pipes Answer Silencers Brand New bearings on crank & gears. TORS Eliminator kit. Starts first kick. $1500 Cheyenne, WY Flywheel puller, some jets and a bucket of extra nuts and bolts will be included. I will try and post some pics of the porting & some shots of the shee itself within the next few days.
  5. My local dealership hooked me up for $36
  6. I got some Namura pistons for her. Wondering if anyone has had experience with these? Only $49 ea for the whole kit. Not bad I think.
  7. I am looking for a 66mm piston / rings by this weekend. Rockymountainatv is out of the question because they don't carry that size. They are the closest, but don't have what I need. Magic Racing only carries the entire kit, so can't get it there. All I need is just one piston / rings. What other sites do you guys use to buy pistons from, and I would like to get it pretty quick. Thanks - Jared
  8. You might consider one of those two into one pipes if you want bottom end.
  9. oh yeah.... she already does the explicit favors
  10. Wasn't her impeller. Didn't ever notice any leaks of coolant before this ride. I checked the impeller and it was working alright. I have her engine tore down right now, and I'm looking for a cheap piston & rings so I can get her running before easter weekend.
  11. We were riding today and her bike started to act all weird, so we turned around and headed back to the truck. About a half mile away it just stopped running and seized up. Wouldn't kick over at all. Kicker wouldn't even budge. So towed it back to the truck and tore it down when I got back home. Looks like something happened with the coolant and it leaked out, so it go all hot and seized the left side piston. So now I have to try and find a new piston for her so she can ride with me this weekend. A chunk of the piston right next to the exhaust port broke off and was just sitting in there. Didn't damage the cylinder walls at all though. Have to get it honed though. Anyone have a 66mm piston/rings I could buy off them or have a used one?
  12. why you so desperate for money? you could always donate plasma or blood or sperm for quick cash. lol
  13. Oh yeah... until the bike gets pretty hot (like 20-30 min of riding) the left cylinder will smoke at any throttle position, and the right will only smoke for about 5 min until its warm. Is this an air screw problem or what? Brand new top end with about 125psi compression at 7500 ft on both cylinders. why does the left smoke so much compared to the right.
  14. I am at 7500 feet most of the time, about 40-50degrees, ported, K&N clamp on in airbox w/ no lid, stock pipes, aftermarket silencers though, stock carbs, TORS system taken off. mains: 200 Pilots: 25 Needle: 2nd from blunt end I've had some people tell me that this should be way lean, but when I do a plug chop everything looks ok. I want to go up to a 27.5 on the pilots, but no one in town has 27.5 pilots, and the stealership wants $9.00 to order them. Is it the stock pipes that are keeping everything down low? I have 210 mains as well, but when I run those it smokes a little much at WOT. Right now the plugs look chocolate brown all over, no white on the plugs. I run yamahalube at 32:1 or 36:1. Does this sound right? I run 14x42 gearing and it has plenty of power. I am actually thinking about going to a 15, since I can yank my front end up in 4th gear with a little pull and some throttle cruising down loose gravel roads. If I am on grass or have good traction it will come off the ground in 4th with a slip of the clutch right before the powerband.
  15. Up to 2.10 for 83 octane here. Its retarded.
  16. OK went to work on one of my spare bikes today and found out I have two right hand side carb slides. Anyone have a left hand carb slide I can trade a right hander for? I am also looking for a pipe spring. lost one on my last ride and am trying to get one before this weekend.
  17. I am running .080 over cylinders with stock carbs and a milled head. No problems to speak of here. Just jet your carbs right and you should be fine.
  18. .040 over on the stock head is the most I've seen. Mine is .030 over and I like it. You would be better off to get an aftermarket head like a Noss head. The stockers are kinda crap if you plan on doing a lot to your engine. If you plan on running alcohol I would save up some cash and get something professionally done.
  19. What he said was pretty accurate. There are sites out there that have charts that tell you what compression should be. You could probably ask this question to dlnoss. He will probably be able to tell you. Go to www.nossmachine.com and check around that site, I would imagine it would tell you stock compression somewhere on that site.
  20. Did the wires come off your TORS system? Did you disconnect the box that the TORS system plugs into?
  21. OK, we tested it today... Put about 3 shots in the gas tank. Currently full with 93 octane, Yamalube mixed at 32:1. Didn't notice any difference. Poured about a half bottle in and she ran a lot better. Did a plug chop to check if jetting was still ok. No problems. Ran through that tank of gas. Got back and filled back up again, but added full bottle of everclear. Holy Shit. That thing ran like it had a turbo or something. Felt like it would pull twice as hard as normal. Did a plug chop and it was a little lean, so went up a size on the mains and corrected it. It fricken hauled ass. Lots of fun. I don't think I will do it any more though, since I don't know what long-term effects are. For a quick ride though, it was the shit. Cramped my arms up holding onto the damn thing when I had good traction. With a plus 2 swingarm it would wheelie a lot more than what I was used to. Nutz.
  22. Had a similar problem a few weeks ago. Spray your carbs, cables & thumb throttle with carb cleaner. It gets rid of any moisture around them. That's what was making mine stick. Take your bike in the garage and get your carbs warmed up before your ride. That seemed to fix my problem.
  23. We are going to the Rock Springs sand dunes end of this week. I have jets that we could put in your bike if you really want to ride. Besides, jets are only $2.00 down at TNT so it wouldn't be very expensive to jet it. Let me know if you want to come.
