  1. I recently had an idea passed on to me through a PM which got me thinking... With how popular the post in the repairs and mods section is, and how many questions I'm getting in PM's because of it, this might be a good thing for a lot of people out there. I'm thinking about making some CD's with walkthrough diagrams, pictures, probably some video shots, etc that would show step by step guides for all sorts of different things with the banshee. If I were to do this, I would like to know how many people would actually be interested in paying a little fee for the CD's. Say... $20/ea. or something. Kind of like the post I made in the repairs and mods forum about splitting the cases. If I were to do this, it would provide a much greater detail on the instructions, torque specifics for individual bolts, etc. Probably do some for top end rebuilds, splitting the cases, removal of different parts, installation of common bolt-on parts, clutches, water impeller, etc. I could probably put some maps to common riding areas around the country, directions, gps coordinates, pictures, videos, and some other stuff on the CD's too. Maybe make them DVD's that you could put in your player and have chapter selections for different walk-through's and stuff. I dunno. Just tossing the idea out there. Who would be interested? What kinda stuff would you like to see on the disc if I did decide to make them. - Jared
  2. Cylinders SOLD!!!
  3. That's what happened to me right now. I have it tore down to the frame and decided I would get it PC'd while I had it down this far. So it might be a little longer before I'm out there on it. I just figure that since I have it down this far, I might as well just do it right. I'm going to go with a candy blue PC or a candy green PC. Right now all thats on the frame is the steering stem and radiator. After I get those off I'm going to town with the sand blaster and going to weld in some gussets sicne I can't find a kit anywhere. Then I'm going to send it off to Ogden, UT for PC. Going to get a lot of stuff chromed too while I'm at it. I will def. have it running again by memorial day, but not sure about easter right now. That might be pushing it. It's going to look nice though. Probably have to wait on fullbores till this summer, so I will have the nice PC frame, but shitty plastics till summer time.
  4. I will have to get one for changing a spark plug. I will take the old ones out with the torch and install the new ones with my air impact gun. I'm leaning more and more towards the cut domes. Been talking to dlnoss about getting a set, but I need to get the pistons and everything put on first so I can measure the deck height for him.
  5. I don't doubt his abilities, it just cracks me up how every time there is a post about porting we all jump in here looking like we know everything about porting a bike and what each individual should do with his/her bike. Everyone's a professional.
  6. Use the carbide cutting tool attachment with your dremel and it will make REALLY fast work of that little dinky metal. Cut right through that center bridge with no hesitation. If you don't have that attachment you can pick it up at your local walmart for like $9
  7. Our local mom & pop hardware store had metric extensions that were the right length.
  8. CRANK SOLD!!
  9. Thanks for all the awesome comments guys! I will keep everyone updated with pictures as I go. Right now I'm sitting in the water waiting to order a piston kit and a clutch. I have a swinger lined up and need a carrier for that too. I have some stock parts in really good shape for sale in the for sale section, go check them out. If you think I'm asking too much, shoot me some offers. I just want them out of the way, so I won't turn down any reasonable offers. - Jared

  11. When did we get all these experts on port jobs and port timing and port size? Everyone's a professional or has a professional opinion in these porting theads. It's craziness I tell you, pure insanity! It's rolling around on the floor laughing mad!

  15. his port was set up for drag racing. It was basically an aggressive dune port. It pulled pretty hard, and he liked it a lot. i don't know what the port numbers were though.
  16. Make sure you pull it out from the right hand side, as you are sitting on the bike. A lot easier from that side. It weighs like 70-80lbs from what I can figure. That's what it felt like when I lifted it out. I had no problems just grabbing it by either side as I stood over my frame and just scooted it out to the right, then tipped it backward a little to clear the exhaust ports from the front frame rails and lifted it right out.
  17. LOL It will be a funny look they give you as you fly past them. It's not really a cleanup port either, he goes into them pretty good for the price. I spanked the crap out of some 450's that had pipes & intake & the exhaust cam mod, with just stock stroke gorr port, T5's and K&N clamp on's. Stock everything else. They might not have been very good riders though, they should have kept up a little better than they did, but I whooped em none the less. I think you will be very happy with that setup ellison.
  18. give gorr a call before he closes shop and see if he will get them adjusted for the 4mm and you will have one hell of a crazy low end machine.
  19. I would start looking for a new set of cylinders. Better safe than sorry. You can pick up stock pistons really cheap right now, since the cubs came out. My friend rick just sold a set of stock jugs ported by speed tech for like $400. You could pick up some basically stock ones for like $250 I would imagine. Check out ebay. I'm thinking about selling some of my spare sets of cylinders (not the gorr ported ones) if you end up looking for some, let me know I could probably cut you a deal.
  20. any kind of heavy duty oil will work. I run automatic trans fluid in my 87 and castrol syntec red line 10w-40 with lucas oil stabilizer and some other secret additives. - jared
  21. haha! high altitude... you are such a joker. Try getting it right when you ride up to 14,235ft. That's a pain in the ass. We've taken both my jeep and the banshee up this road. Highest driveable road in the continential united states.
  22. I can let mine idle all day long and it won't load up. Something is wrong with your jetting.
  23. Maybe you shouldn't lose parts. At least I found the ball bearing that works the clutch that I lost whe I tore my engine down. It fell into my oil pan that was below the desk. You should have seen my hands after I went digging around in my oil pan trying to find it.
  24. Traitor! Ha Ha! Kidding. I'm sure i will race you at killpecker with my new setup, then we will see if you made the right choice.
  25. yawn yawn yawn... politics bores me. I support bush, I am a conservative republican, and any of you democrat/ liberals can kiss my big fat ass. I work in the oil field and you can kiss my fat ass for that as well ya bunch of hippies!
