  1. I would not run alky if you are doing much if any duning. If you are building a drag bike, there is no other way...run the alcohol. Easier to tune and jet. Purging is the only real thing you have to do besides keep a little closer eye on your plugs. Alky is a little more sensitive to temp and humidity changes, but unlike gas, you can run a alky so rich the temp and humidity changes won't matter. The power difference is substantial. If you change nothing else but the things required to run alky optimally, it will put a smile on your face. And, even though you burn twice as much fuel it is still way cheaper. I paid 12.50 to fill up a f gallon jug of alky this last weekend!
  2. That's awesome to hear Dave! Is that in the stocker chassis?

  4. Have you taken care of your other debts Tommy? Just want to make sure you deliver if you are gonna sell here....
  5. This weekend will be your first time out w/it, but you are bored w/it???? Was looking forward to some racing w/ya.
  6. Need to run Race fuel and your jetting should be safe to start w/. I would bet you will end up in the 152 to 155 range once you have it tuned in.
  7. I's not locked up because of the lockup. Have you got in there to take a look yet?
  8. Alright, well if you guys decide you are doing the dunes Friday, let me know. I may change my mind. My biggest concern is making sure we get vouchers.
  9. Yes!!! I get to go the whole weekend!
  10. Woooohhhhoooooo!!! I get to go for the whole weekend and if everything goes well, will have a new ride as well! You guys doin the track Friday Lindsay? Wondering if maybe we can work together to get a vehicle in line for vouchers?
  11. Are any of you going Memorial Weekend?
  12. Since you are a PS member, here is a link w/some great reading and a few pics if you haven't seen it already. http://www.planetsand.com/forums/ubbthread...topics/654196/7
  13. That is a good article, but is nice to have pics. Are you going to be at Silver Lake this weekend Joe? I can give you a hand if ya like. I will be at WMSD on Friday and the dunes Saturday and Sunday(Woooohoooo LOL!).
  14. You will want to start w/them wide open, And go down from there. When I am trying to jet my bike I make 3 or so passes, check the plugs, close down the pj's half turn at a time(if it's rich) and repeat. Do you know how to read alky plugs?
  15. Just like it says, whatcha got?
  16. It sounds to me like the reading of the base ring is explained backwards. When jetting alky, the more the base ring is colored and the more the coloring travels down the threads of the spark plugs, the leaner you are. A rich condition will not even discolor the base, it will look rich. But, I have never read my gas plugs this way, so I can't say for sure.
  17. You will have to fab some mounts. Make sure it is a fairly beefy piece of chromoly or mild steel. No aluminum. You will want to use a rubber mount to help dampen the vibrations so you don't crack a pipe mount. I use rubber stoppers for automotive shocks that can be bought at any auto parts store. There are other methods as well....
  18. What do you mean by the flat part of the plug? Are you talking the base ring at the bottom of the threads? Alky jetting is usually read this way.
  19. Well that is definately your problem. There is no such thing as a key on an alky bike....duh...
  20. I like it!!! Lots of ideas running through my head.
  21. I also use some grease on the inside of the seal, but no sealant on the outside. Have never had any problems.
  22. 927 will work as well. I mix mine 24 to 1 but I am hearing more people having luck getting away w/32 to 1.
  23. LOL...Like I said, I have a free voltage regulator if you'd like it.
  24. I think I still have one layin around. Pay the shipping and it is yours. If interested I will look for it tonight.
  25. I have seen broken teeth on the primary and clutch basket gears make a knocking sound. Also seen broken teeth on tranny gears make this noise also, but in this situation you would only have it in one gear while moving. If you have 180 lbs of compression, especially on a ported jug, the chances of it being piston slap are slim to none.
