Thise guys are the Scat or Eagle of the motorcycle world. They do good work for what they do, but they certainly aren't the people any of the top race teams use.

Making a ramp would be no big deal. I am not sure why you would want to make a track in a CAD package. I suppose you could lay one out in 2D. All of the CAD packages have their own unique features. Which one is better really depends on what you are using it for and what sort of business you're in.

V5 is where everyone is headed. Boeing and Freightliner are in the middle of a full on change over right now.

My parents are coming to town to visit me that weekend, so I'm out.

I agree that it is better than a pencil. Industrial layout work and civil engineering type stuff is really where it still has a market share in my opinion.

Prince is never good................never. What's small, purple, and in need of surgery? ..............Prince. :yelrotflmao:

It is really easy to add weight to a crankshaft, either by adding weld or in high imbalance cases, heavy metal (mallory, tungsten, depleted uranium). I agree that weight matching components is important. I disagree that a big bore Banshee motor will vibrate any more than a small bore motor providing all the components are in good shape and similair in weight. Piston porting and lightening is most cases with Banshee motors is silly and a waste of time in my opinion. Plus you more than likely shorten the life of your piston and increase the likely hood of it crasking or the skirt breaking.

Did all of the bolt holes line up the first time? That was the hardest part of the deal for me. I haven't made a stator cover for a long time. I am not sure I even have any of the files anymore. I quit making them because I could never get them to be significantly lighter than a stock plastic cover. I don't have cost free access to a rapid prototyping machine anymore. I used to be able to do whatever I wanted for free where I used to work. I am probably going to make a composite stator cover for my triple, but cutting a mold for that is way down on my list of suff to do. All though it might be worth my while to have a soft mold printed out instead of machining a hard mold.

Oh yeah..................well then my triple can beat up your triple. j/k :yelrotflmao:

Beat me to it.

I haven't bought anything from that guy, but I do know that most shops that sell these, all get the parts from the same place.

I am afraid to ask........................what the hell are you doing there? Doing a mock-up for a custome intake boot?

I have UG NX4, ProE Wildfire, Catia V5, and Solidworks at home. I do all my personal stuff in Catia or UG. I have had to use all of these for work at one point in time. Catia and UG are all i have installed right now. I would be alot of work to get your model into a from that was close to an OEM banshee frame, I think. I would never ask you to do that, since I can just as easily do it myself. I am just being lazy and hoping that somebody already had a model. I was hoping to get a head start on the frame so that I can work on it while I am waiting for some of my engine parts to come back from anodizing.

It's an after market assembly that replaces the stock clutch adjuster assembly in the clutch hat (pressure plate). It prevents the clutch ball from welding to the pushrod.

CAD packages are generally pretty easy to use after you learn the methodology behing CAD software. Past that it all depends on the package and your thought process. Catia, UG, and Solidowrks are my favorites, with Catia V5 being my absolute favorite. ProE is ok, but it doesn't always get along well with me (due to my thought process). ProE Wildfire 2.0 is much better than previous versions, but itstill sort of cumbersome in my opinion. The most common package that people get their hands on is AutoCAD, which is mostly a 2D package. It's works for some stuff, but it is pretty worthless if you know how to use one of the other packages I mentioned.

Different flywheels do not matter as they should be balanced by themselves, However, this brings up an interesting question as to whether or not there a compelling reason to balance a flywheel while it''s on the crankshaft. I'm pretty sure nobody does that with Banshee cranks, but I may need to give that some thought. The clutch doesn't matter because it's not on the same axis as the crankshaft. Trueing a crankshaft means that you spin it on it's main bearings and measure the runout on the mains. The goal being that you don't want to have any runout on anything on the crankshafts center axis. I ususally true my banshee cranks to 5 microns.

Yes, you can still use your clutch to shift, but depending on the rpm it can be really hard to pull the clutch in. Adding a pancake bearing is probably a good idea.

Well, there's your problem. El leano.

Those are some schweet rear tires. Atleast somebody had something, even if it was that. I was sort of expecting not to get any replies or someone asking what CAD was. :: What I really need, to save myself time, is points for the major items on the frame. I am looking to do a hill shooter frame that I probably will wind up having made by one of the guys from the fab shop at work, as opposed to making it myself. Since, I am not making it myself I won't be able to fiddle around with rider and component position as much. Hence the need for a fairly high fidelity CAD model.

That is the way I feel as well. I have had a twist on a Banshee and a couple of other quads and I didn't like the amount of throttle control I had when I was turning. I have also wound up on my ass in the dunes after a few beers, some whoops, and a twist throttle.

What's the reasoning behing using the Mountain Max cylinder and crankshaft? Do you wind up needing a custom made snout on the out putshaft side of the crankshaft, or maybe just a custom pinion gear?
-
Good explanation.

Where is it leaking coolant from? 105psi is pretty low, but as long as it is even between the cylinders, that rules out quite a few things. You shouldn't need to have the engine warm to check the compression. How many hours do you figure you have on the engine?

It's definitely worth it. Do a search on this topic, this has been brought up a bunch. The best feature for me is that I can plug my laptop into it and do whatever I want with the timing curves.

Are you doing a Crankenstein motor then, or is it Banshee cylinder based?
