  1. Sometimes, I would tend to agree with you, but that is only about 10% of the time. The rest of the time I am working my way to having an ulcer before I am 30 years old. My every day work isn't that special, I drive to work in Costa Mesa every morning, fight fires on the engineering and manufacturing side of our race programs (we have alot more than Nastycar) for 10-12 hours, go home, eat dinner, fall asleep on the couch. Once a month, I may get to do something that seems entertaining, like this weekend, other than that, it's the same or shittier than anyone else's job. 12:30pm beer number two has been handed to me and that Kelly Clarkson chick is not hot :verymad: Supposedly the Governator is supposed be here today (might be Saturday or Sunday), that might be interesting. It really wasn't last year though.
  2. That compression is a bit low........maybe. I would spring for a PD or Noss head. Good investment if you are planning on keeping the bike and aren't doing the machine work yourself.
  3. Swingarm and rear shock spring /revalve or used Works shocks up font?
  4. It's a kick to go to the races every once in awhile. I don't actually follow the racing as much as a series, but I can tell you what everybody has going for them with respect to the cars and key people. All I know is it's Friday at 12pm, I'm at work at a race track, Fontana smells, Kelly Clarskson (just talked to me) and I just opened a beer.
  5. Yeah, it's all about technique.
  6. Accomodations are failry nice for us, hotel at night, AC trailer and luxury box during the day, all the food and stuff that you could ever eat. The downside is that between interviews and doing a little bit of work, there isn't anything to do other than fiddle around with my laptop. Once the trucks get going to night it will get alot more entertaining, but right now it's all press and celebrity b.s. When it get s to be a bit later in the evening and some of the stuff gets calmed down, I should be able to go hang out with my buddy I grew up with that drives for Evernham. I really only get to see hime twice or three times a year, so I am looking forward to that. As for the engineers at TRD not holding down their end of the deal in the Busch and Cup series..............it's not our fault. It's the hillbilly's that are using our stuff. Every motor that we have lost so far this year has some "extra work" done to it, that certainly wasn't that way when it left our shop. Not to mention the fact that we don't exactly have alot of talent in either one of our major race teams. Trucks are good as always though. BDR does a great job with those guys.
  7. Some suspesnion components may be in order?
  8. It seems to me that the lighting portion of the stator and the ignition portion of the stator are separate circuits. In regards to the Electrex unit and the voltage regulator, it actually use an additional regulator in addition to the OEM unit on all of the high output models. I am not going to open up the PVL can or worms.
  9. El Mirage is about an hour or so away. You could go to Gorman, but there is a good chance you will get checked for a registration and spak arrestors.
  10. I work for TRD (the real TRD not the fruity aftermarket division) as an engineer.
  11. I am bored out of my gourd sitting here at the track...........................so I'll pretty much make a conversation out of anything at this point. ::
  12. http://www.californiaspeedway.com/images/2...ule_Feb%208.pdf The schedule for the weekend is at the link above. I am at the track right now.....................I have to be here all damn weekend. Fontana smells funny.
  13. Yeah you just have to worry about me filling up your For Sale thread with b.s. conversation.
  14. I agree about the price of the domes and that measuring what he has probably isn't worth the time involved. You might even be able to find them under $50. As for the method of measurement, I still feel the syringe is a bit dubious. The method I described and the following method are the only ways that I know of that work well enough to talk about. The method you may not have access to involves measuring the dome with a CMM machine, extrapolating the curves that make up the part in a CAD environment, then you have to make a shell of the chamber while still in the CAD program, thus the CAD program can calculate the volume of the chamber. In reference to your go kart method, that will probably work as well. I think what your dad was doing, was assembling the engine, bringing it up to TDC, filling the chamber with fluid until full, then measuring how much fluid he put in. That method is probably good enough for government work, but it has the potetntial to be messy, though that may only be me assuming that other folks are as clumsy as I am.
  15. Maybe you'll actually get it sold this time around. I guess that I am lucky and haven't had much trouble with anything on eBay so far. There are some weirdo's around here though too, be careful.
  16. If you have domes that are cut to have the piston travel into them, than the syringe method as described above would generally measure the dome to be alot larger than it actually is.
  17. Atleast one person thought that was funny.
  18. Chassis dyno are great for sorting out your the tune of your carburetors. As for the programable CDI, what I have found with mine is that once you get your timing curve pretty close to where it needs to be, the chassis dyno probably will not have enough fidelity to tell you if any fine tuning you may do makes a difference or not. Of course if you were to make alot more power, say more than a 100hp, then it may be a different story.
  19. Not to take away from the ceramic coating idea, as it might be worthwhile in this case, in jbooker82 's case, did you machine the pistons and domes any before having the coating applied? The reason I ask is that there is certainly a thickness associated with any coating (a difference between a coating and a surface treatment) and with the ceramics it can be quite considerable (anywhere from 25-100 microns). This would be enough of a difference to change you chamber size, create a bore interference, or modify your squish band. http://www.performancecoatings.com/pci.html If anyone is interested, these folks are good workers. I have used them for several things.
  20. There is atleast one person that fools around with those one here. I think its Warriorman or something like that. Do a search for it. That type of car has been mentioned on here some.
  21. I saw this thread a bit ago and didn't have anything worthwhile to say, but I had a thought while I was at work today listening to one of the guys from the engine build shop telling us about having his car repossesed. It turns out the repo thing was a scam, they had stolen some of his mail so they had his info, they called him up and told him they were going to impound for the bank until he got it sorted out with them. This guy is sort of a financial zoo, so he didn't think too much of it. They came and got the car from, he handed it over to them is more like what happened, then he went down to the bank and they had no idea what he was talking about. It turns out it was just a big scam. ::
  22. Pancake bearing..........(I assume)
  23. What the hell, how many non-paying folks have you had with that thing? Free bump for a good guy.
  24. I tend to agree. The Hydrodynamics or Elka based kits are better than the Sanddragon YFZ style stuff in the long run. I am still a bit confused about that product from Sanddragon, because it doesn't replicate YFZ Geometry or anything, it just seems to allow the lower portion of the shock to fit, which is probably the least of the problems people have with the YZF450 shocks. ::
  25. Adjusting you beer intake up or down may help as well.
