  1. It's going to be a good show tomorrow. If you have never been to a top tier racing event, you're missing out. I don't care what the motorsport is, from lawnmower racing to Formula 1, there is nothing like it.
  2. Education is one of favorite excuses to get on my soap box about. My main concern for kids is that they need to learn how to work for things and not just expect things to be handed to them. One of the most important things about school is learning how to interact and work with others. There is a large gradient of the amount of knowledge that a kid absorbs from school. Some kids are smart and learn very easily, while other have a hard time learning and school is frustrating for them and that will always be the case. However, if you can get along with people and present yourself well, then you will always be successful with your lot in life. Of course, a kids outcome has alot to do with their home life. It seems that the quality of parenting has gone south too. I suppose the reason I get worked up about this is that I have worked very hard for everything that I have in my life. Barely anything was ever given to me, though my parents were very supportive and provided direction when I needed it. It seems like a big chunk of the population has forgotten how to work for anything. All anyone seems to want any more is to find a short cut through life.
  3. I think there are a couple pretty popular NASCAR and Fantasy Racing forums out there. Maybe you could post them up there. Somebody was telling me today that tickets were going for three or four times their face value on one of those forums. If that's the case then some of the people that are buying them must be getting a second mortgage on their trailers.
  4. What happened so that you can't go?
  5. I was actually at Daytona this year for a couple days, but I flew home before the Cup race started. Generally I am not required to be at the track, though I make it to most of the events that are close by like California, Vegas, and Phoenix. I'll probably get out to Indy this year as well. TMC is making a huge deal out of Fontana this year. I am pretty sure everyone except for the janitors from my facility are out here. Winning the Busch pole has just made everyone pucker up more. Fontana is one of the main profiles that we test out motors on the dyno when we are developing them, atleast for the open speedway configuration motors. I am trying to keep my commitment to travel as low as possible as I am trying to make a bit a of a carreer shuffle so that I might get back to being closer to where I grew up. For Climb Any Hill You Point At!!, Dale Jr. is a great guy and a blast to hang out with. DEI is in a bit of a state of flux since last year. I am hoping they get their act together for this season. Most of the drivers are good guys though, there are only a couple of them that are jack asses.
  6. By the way, I am not sure how big of fans y'all actually are, but whenever the NASCAR circus, IRL, SCORE, Champ Car, Daytona Prototypes, NHRA, or the midgets are in or around town, remind me ahead of time if you want to go. We usually have ton of unused tickets left over at work from people who didn't want to go or were British and think the American Motorsports are lame. All my friends down here usually already are going to whatever it is we have left over tickets for. Sometimes I can come up with cold pit passes, VIP coupons, fan appreciation event passes, etc. If you are interested, like I said, you just have to remind me to look into it before I wind up at the track for the week or weekend. If it's a really slow weekend I can sneak a kid or two back to hang out with a favorite team or a driver for a bit.
  7. Are you then cooling the crank with liquid nitrogen before you put the 200 degree F bearing on? If not I have a hard time seeing how you get enough expansion to over come the 20 micron interference fit..................... If someone was really in a bind can think of whay to get the job done with acomewhat large diameter, extra deep socket and a bench vise.
  8. I'll be down on pit road sitting in or around the Waltrip Racing pit box. Look for the guy wearing a cowboy hat (if my boss doesn't catch me and make me take it off again), a TRD shirt, and a carrying laptop. If my buddy that I grew up wins tomorrow, I think I may have agreed to run down trailer row with my pants around my ankles. I figure that since he won the Busch and Cup races the last time he was here, that he's not going to do it again.
  9. IMO the IRL and Champ car series both suck since they became a spec. engine series. Formula Nippon is the where we have been funneling our ex-IRL dollars. If you are going to spend the cash to go see a race, then I recommend the Long Beach Grad Prix. That is one of my favorite racing events.
  10. Make sure that you do not heat and cool the bearings. For any type of ball or roller bearings, this ruins them. A set of bearing collars and a press are the best way to get the job done.
  11. Traffic gets pretty gay very quickly if you haven't been to a race there before. I would look to get to the track atleast two hours before pole time. The imbreed hillbilly fans usually have a few accidents in the parking lot as well while trying to park and open a beer at the same time. Every time I have to come up here for a race I make sure and ride the Harley so I can get around with out dealing with all the bullshit.
  12. Does he make alot of these things? Do you have any other pictures of bikes that he has done?
  13. That's what I was thinking.
  14. I have been skipping the normal process for getting stuck or broke fasteners out and have been taking it straight to the TIG welder and welding an old allen wrench to it.
  15. The next time I need filters I think I am going to try the UNI pods with outerwears. I am not satisfied 100% with my K&N's stopping all the sand. The last few times that I havbe cleaned them there has been sand inside the filter.
  16. It's probably a good idea just like year-round school. It seems that kids that have free time on their hands and don't get to spend enough time with their parents are the ones that wind up being all screwed up. Too much of that crap happens these days.
  17. The IRL boys are failry consistantly above 180 at Fontana. The track surface is actually pretty nice compared to several others on the schedule. The infield facilities here are top notch.
  18. The fly-bys aren't so bad as I usually forget about it and have a headset on by that point. It probably wouldn't matter anyway as my ears are worthless by the time the pits go hot.
  19. I can see maybe taking a scotch pad to the slides or the bores. Normally, when people say they are sanding something, I am thinking about someone going nuts with 60 grit.
  20. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/banshee-8-d...084617463QQrdZ1 Does anyone know anythning about this seller. He claims that he makes the frames himself. If this is the case I would like to know if the frames are any good or anyone has experience with them. To me , the frame seems mostly sound, just a little "undercooked" in a couple areas.
  21. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Bans...089235364QQrdZ1 I found this auction this morning while I was cruising eBay. I am not sure if this adds to RDZ's credibility or not.
  22. I forgot about this thread. I don't recall asking anyone one about the ATF thing. Was I supposed to come out with some more info besides that? I have been pretty busy this last week and weekend with the Nastycar circus that came to town. I have been at the track since early Friday morning and I will continue to get to be here through late Sunday. If anyone has questions about the new Nastycar unleaded fuel...............now is probably the best time for me to answer or get answers.
  23. Why do you sand the slides? I haven't heard of that before.
  24. From my experience, the adjustable LRD pipes will leak at the adjustment point no matter what you do. Depending on what type of riding you do(not sure what pipe may be best for you), you might be able to sell them on eBay and buy a different set of pipes without losing any money.
  25. Grease, no, but you could oile them with WD40 or carb and choke cleaner. You may need to deburr the inside of the idle scrw holes. The throttle cable is a good thing to check and lube as well.
