  1. Will do. I will permanently in Oregon by April 3rd. Depending on how much of a zoo my new job is, I will be looking to hit the sand sometime soon.
  2. I don't think we have even reached a mildly disturbing level of gay comments yet. I can start turning everything I post into a gay innuendo if you like.
  3. Honestly, I think a web page like that and tap drill/threading chart should be made a sticky in the Repair/Mod forum here. :geek: An online version of the Machinery's Handbook wiould also be cool if there was such a thing. They hadn't published them on DVD yet, when I was given mine 7 years ago as a present. :geek:
  4. I hear those Banshee eninges that look like a model airplane engine are hard to tune. :ermm:
  5. I think CadillacBanshee's is longer.
  6. I forgot to put a tolerance on my initial estimate. +/-40hp should probably be about right.
  7. Could you signature get any longer? Maybe break it up into colums or something.
  8. Based on all of that I would estimate that you will have 4hp. That's just a guess though, it could be more or less.
  9. That is pretty much the funniest thing I have seen in a long time. For some reason I am compelled to read through all of the scam archives. The one where the guy gets the scammer to convert to a fake religion is great. :yelrotflmao:
  10. Hmmmmm. Alright I will have to check it out. One thing I have been amazed by through this moving experience is how much easier it is to move thanks to the internet. If the internet didn't exist and you had to do all the moving stuff by phone, it would take me a month before I could move.
  11. Do I need to get an access pass for my truck as well if I am just using it for transportation and camping purposes?
  12. I have to admit, I have seen cooler things than that before.
  13. I'll ask my dad about it, but if I haven't had military insurance for the the past 26 years, I assume there is some reason for it.
  14. Congratulations on getting that fixed.
  15. My dad is ex-Air Force, but I don't think that will help me all that much. :ermm:
  16. That looks like a good source for Ti fastners. I would be really careful about where you use the bolts that you get from that place as they do not seem to be graded, nor do the list the material specification (there are several different types of Ti used for fasteners). Maybe the website just doesn't show any of that information, but in my experience with exotic fasteners (especially fasteners sold as aluxury item to the general public for lack of a better way of putting it) if the grade and material spec. of the Ti fastener is not listed and the fastener is priced reasonably, the fastener probably is an Southeast Asian import that probably should not be trusted in any critical application.
  17. Like the title and subtitle says, if you have renter's insurance who do you use and how you like them? Have you ever had to file a claim with it? Due to the company I have my current reter's insurance with in CA being retarded and not letting me tranfer my policy to Oregon, I am now in the market for a new insurance company for renter's insurance. I use State Farm for my turck and Harley, but that might have to change as well due to my move, they just haven't decided about that yet. Any insight or wisdom any of y'all have on this subject would be awesome.
  18. It appears that I will begin raping and pillaging my way to Portland this Sunday. I should be moving into to my new place on Tuesday. Can someone explain to me what the actual deal is with ATV titles in Oregon? Someone told me you don't have to have them, but I know you are required to a have some sort of permit sticker in the Oregon dunes, so how does that work if the ATV isn't titled or registed?
  19. You probably don't need anything special to figure out what size and thread the bolts are. A pair of calipers should be sufficient. Metric fasterns are real easy to mork with in that the number after the M is major diamter of the thread and the number after the x is the pitch which can be found by counting the number of threads on the fastner in the required units. You are gnerally going to only have one or two common choices for thread pitch within a given diameter. This link should help a bit. http://mdmetric.com/tech/tic1e.htm#measproc
  20. $20 for a moderately high quality bearing of that size isn't bad. If it is a high quality joint, then $20 is a screaming deal.
  21. The thing of it is, that this project probably won't cost me more than $4-5k and that will be spread across atleast a year. I have almost all the material and tooling for the engine and fixtures already purchased and including the frame I purchased, I am only around $2500 out of pocket at the moment. The only real unkown thing I have at the moment with regard to cost is the pipes. Having access to CNC machines for free helps, as does the free use of the engine assembly and dynamometer facilities in the building next to mine. Of course this project has the potential to get really expensive, really fast, if I lose the engine on the dyno and the case halves, cylinder block, and/or crankshaft are damaged beyond reasonable repair. I have extra material for the crankshaft, but I couldn't bring myself to buy extra aluminum billets for the case halves and cylinder block due to high prices of aluminum right now. However, if the defense industry gets molested as a result of a policy change after the next presidential election, then the price of aluminum well get back to a more sane level and I won't have to worry about scrapping any of the larger aluminum parts. :geek:
  22. I am only using shock covers because none of the springs match the color scheme of my bike. :ninja:
  23. You shouldn't have trouble finding the upper arm bolts for a j-arm bike. I don't even think you need to go to a specialty fastener company. You can probably find them from an industrial supply house like www.mscindustrial.com . If you have your heart set on getting the fastners from AARP, send me the dimensions for what you need once you get them measured. Via my company, I have spent well over six figures with them so far this year. Based on that, they ask me if I need any sample fastners pretty much every time I talk to them. I have never needed anything from them for my self and I would be more than happy to see if I can get them to send me a few of what you need. The only thing is, none of their fastners come polished and you may even struggle to find that particular fastener in stainless steel from them. Let me know if you're interested.
  24. Alright, you sold me on the idea of venturing some cash towards a fastnerguy bolt kit.
  25. What makes the fastener guy kit better than the Alloybolts kit? Have you used both kits before? I am not trying to be a smart ass. I would actually like to know how current kits from each of those two vendors compare.
