  1. I agree with that part, but the amount of pressure you put in the tire remains the same. If it takes 50 psi of force to push that bead over the rim thats what it takes. Not all tires are the same, I'm just saying my experience some take a lot of force.
  2. ya, try mounting sport bike tires, they are the worst. I see what youre saying, but will agree to disagree.
  3. you better get that 85, those things are about 3 times that new.
  4. I dont see that as making much of a difference. 1) The strap trick is to get the beads to meet with the rim, not actually seat them. 2) Its going to take the same pressure regardless. Its probably worth the ten bucks a shop would charge you to remove the tires. Then clean the beads really well with a wire wheel, and remount them.
  5. Pull the valve stem when you seat the bead. Its taken me upwards of 60 psi to seat an ATV tire before, you don't want that kind of pressure in there for long. I dunno how much they will hold, but it says 40 max to seat one.
  6. I dont see how it could happen at all, if the tank were to remain even remotely stock looking. If it did, those would be some crazy tool paths.
  7. agreed. the oxy torch right where the splines shoulder up.
  8. not happenin'. how you gonna shell the billet? cant cut the top off, then it would be two pieces, and defeat the purpose. But maybe a rough casting with some sweet finishing work to the outside.......
  9. I like your design Matt. Do you still run yours?
  10. Buy better bolts. Unbrako's or Holo-krome's are my favorites.
  11. nice job. its good to see kids doing stuff like this instead of drugs and drinking. being a good fabber is VERY handy. let me tell you.
  12. whats so cool about fuel injection? its been on cars for many years and no one says: 'remember the old days when all we had to was remap the ignition? that was sweet.' more like what the fuck is this shit. long live the carb. not to mention none of us could ride that bike to its full potential in either condition.
  13. Try a machine shop. I know the one I work for has taps up to 1.5 inches and like 30mm.
  14. Thread your hole and use a shoulder bolt. then ream the hub to within .0002" of the bolts diameter. It needs to be very tight and round, something youre probably not going to find on a drill press.
  15. I would like to know who told you that, or who did you rebuild. Because they suck at rebuilds. I have done mine and it works quite well. Ohlins isnt a bunch of retards.
  16. only drill a 1/4 way through the axle. if youre serious about this let me know, I know where you can get some cheap machining done. like $20/hr. try finding that somewhere else.
  17. internet porn. duh.
  18. Well the parts are in the mail. Ill try to post some pics up when its all together.
  19. Lonnie runs Sand Trax, I think thats the name. Never heard of the one you mentioned.
  20. I run steel primary drives because I'm cheap.
  21. NO way, pure Argon. Ya, I think were just gonna get a 10 pound bottle. The fridge is tall enough that I can leave the highest shelf in, so the bottle can sit on that. Do you know if you can lay C02 over? I was worrying about that, but don't think it will be an issue. Airgas, or a local steel supplier are my only options for bottle refills, I hope thats not an issue either. But my buddy runs gas from the steel yard, and he isn't dead yet, so...........
  22. Ya, I even have a regulator we could have used. I think I should talk him into getting a HUGE bottle. That way when he isn't looking I can use it for shielding gas on my MIG.
  23. I guess I could have machined each valve and fitting myself, but since my buddy bought the kit, I'm not complaining.
  24. Anyone have on of these fancy beasts? My buddy just ordered the kit today, http://www.beveragefactory.com/draftbeer/kits/ekk2.shtml It should be a load of fun. The ice box was gratis via my old man, so we spent the money we saved on that to buy a keg to celebrate. Now I just need to find a Blvd Wheat pull handle, and one generic but cool one. Any ideas on where to look?
  25. Hey dude it happens. Let some people think what they will. The last time I tried to tell a dude, a neighbor of mine, how to install paddles he didn't believe me, big whoop right? Well he got them wrong and when he pulled up to our camp site at the sand I shamed him horribly! I was 16 at the time and he was ~40, he only made that mistake once. It was actually pretty funny, he remarked how well they hooked up. So I said well, imagine if they were on forwards how much better it would be. Everyone there had sand experience and knew they were wrong, so he was laughed at by men, women and children. Let the man make his mistakes, only then will a lesson be learned.
