  1. Did the radiator survive? If so, PM me a price shipped to ZIP 48146.
  2. My cousin has T5s with spark arrestors that go on with snap rings. They look really clean, since they aren't the hose clamp style. He is always over the limit when they test him, but they just tell him to repack before the next time. As stated before, the trick is to creep through while they are checking the park arrestor and flag. EDIT: Just realized how old this post is..... I guess I am just excited for SL to open this year....
  3. Anyone else realize how old this post is? I rode with a guy who has a hidden nitrous kit installed. He talked all this stuff about how he would whip my buddies 700r, and then his kit wouldn't work and my buddy anihilated him. It put him in his place, and he was so embarassed he showed us the bottle and stuff. It was activated off of some OEM switch on the handle bars (I forget what it originally did). Very sneaky. I have thought about getting one for my friends to learn on, you know, the type of friends who can't drive a stick and have never ridden a quad/bike?
  4. Say what you want, but I usually wait until the last week of April or the first week of May due to the cold...... My first trip there was the first time I rode my shee (coming from only a blaster ) and it was like 40 and rainy on Friday. I was drenched and freezing after like 1-2 hour ride. The quad was covered with wet sand. It sucked . On saturday and sunday, it was freaking 60 something and sunny. Perfect weather, and I was hooked. I go about once a month may through september, but may go more this year, since I graduate from college in May  .
  5. At SIlver Lake one year I saw an old 250 odyssey with an R6 engine and a 250R swing arm style rear. It was sweet, but I also saw it on eBay about 3 months after...... In other news, I have a 1977 250 Odyssey that I restored when I was in jr. high. Mine has custom paint (black with intense blue fenders), a Goki electric start kit, ALuminum gravity feed tank, aluminum wheels, etc... It runs good, and is pretty reliable. It is stock engine wise, but will still throw dirt pretty well. It is currently for sale at $1000 firm in Detroit. I would keep it, but I need the garage room. Just figured I would throw that out there.
  6. Too bad your in CA. I would trade you my DS Baja for it. I live in Michigan though....
  7. It looks like I am going Labor Day with just one of my friends. I will be on the YFZ in my sig, he is on a blue 700r. I've never been on a busy weekend before, so what time do I need to line up on Friday to get a voucher for Saturday? (and saturday for sunday?) I live in Detroit, and am trying to figure out when I need to leave friday night. Also, what are the hotel rates like? I am debating on whether to camp or hotel. I plan to go up Fri, ride sat and sun, and come home sun night. So, I only need fri night and sat night. What do you guys think?
  8. Looking to trade my 03 DS650 for a smaller quad of similar value. I would like to get a z400/kfx400/dvx400 or possibly a 400ex. THe DS is orange and black, and has a Yoshimura Exhaust on it. It has a recent rebuild which included forks, gears, piston etc by a professional shop. I have the bills from the previous owner to prove it. Nothing wrong with it, I bought it a few months ago with plans of building a street bike quad. I realized now that I am not giong to have the cash to do it, so I decided to try to get a 400cc to keep around as a spare bike. The DS is just too big for me... I will entertain other trade offers as well. Cash price would be around $3100. I am located near Detroit. Thanks.
  9. I haved stayed in both Sierra Sands and SIlver Lake Resort Hotel. I went a few weeks ago, and Sierra Sands was like $10 more expensive, so we tried the other one. Sierra Sands IMO is a cleaner hotel, and has a better lot. They are both somewhat family oriented, but Sierra Sands is more apt to yell at people when they get loud at night. The owners live in the front portion of the hotel.... Just my opinion...
  10. Search this in the sand forum, we've all written this up at some point. PM me with any other questions the search doesn't answer. See you out there....
  11. Detroit area, Lincoln Park MI to be specific. Thanks.
  12. Well everyone, it is time to say good bye to my Banshee. I have owned it for a little over a year, and just don't ride it anymore. Mods are in my signature. It is in the Detroit MI area, and I am looking for around $2500. I paid this for it when I bought it, and sunk about $1000 into it since then with the shocks, pipes, filters, billet, etc. It will start with first two-three kicks generally. I can prove it I haven't had any reliability problems either. Anyway, if anyone is interested, just shoot me a pm. Thanks.

    silver lake?

You can't camp inside the riding area. The state park that some one was refering to is the state campground. They have waterfront spots I hear, but I've never been. If you were to bring jet skis, you would have to leave the dune area/parking lot to go ride them. You will need spark arrestors, ORV stickers, flags, and State park passes. You need ORV, flags, and state park for everything that will be going into the riding area (quad, truck, etc.). You need a state park pass for the truck that you park in the lot as well. The park passes come daily or annually. Depending on the weekend, you might need to go the night before to get a parking lot voucher if you wanna get into the lot the next day. You get the voucher and buy permits and such the night before, then its easy access the next morning. All of this info is on the Michigan DNR website, so check it out before you come. The hills are decent sized in my opinion, but I haven't ridden any other dunes, so my opinion doesn't weigh much. On the holiday weekends, it will be packed wall to wall, but other weekends it isn't too bad. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on any of this, but I think that I'm solid on it. It is great fun.
  14. I very strongly dislike Tony Stewart. My cousin was racing a midget sprint a few years back, and Tony came to race someone else's car for the night. He ran in the heat, and won, by running into almost everyone in front of him. Then in the main, he started off fine, ran about half of the race without changing places while continuing to run into everyone, then locked up the brakes, got out, threw the helmet back into the car and stormed off . (That was the worst run on sentence ever) Anyway, he didn't even help push the car off the track, he ran off like a small child . It was pathetic. Ever since I haven't liked him. The Earnhardt family, however has been my favorite since I was a little kid.
  15. How much do you sell those arms for? PCed? I just bought aftermarket shocks for my 450, and am thinking about putting the 450's stockers on +2 arms for the shee. Just wondering and thinking ahead..... THanks
  16. What insurance company is this with? About the trailer, we just got a new open car trailer. I just bought a vw sand rail, and the trailer will fit that plus my two atvs at the same time. I looked into enclosed trailers, but the price difference was just too great. And it would have had to be huge.. Thanks.
  17. I am planning on riding more frequently this year because of my new job (oh yea, more money and more weekends off), and am somewhat nervous after hearing about all of the atv theft happening. I am thinking that I will insure my shee and 450 mainly against theft. I wanting to know if anyone has theft insurance, and with what company you have it. I also would like to know how much this is going to cost me. I chain and lock them to the trailer where ever I go, but they sit outside overnight every time I ride out of town. Any info is appreciated.
  18. Ok, so if they can build 3 cyl cases, can they build 4 cyl cases? Just a question.
  19. I had the same issue. I'm not gonna lie, I'm not a great rider. I couldn't beat a couple of friends in some tight trails with my shee vs. their 4 strokes. I then bought a 450 to run trails, and ride my shee at the dunes and on occasion. I take both with me pretty much every time I ride. People who sell their shees to get 450s will be happy at first due to the better ride, but will ALWAYS miss the powerband of the shee.
  20. Do you think he took the engine pic while sitting on the roof of the garage?
