  1. The wompus is 975.00 so basically a 100 more than a cub.
  2. Between 9200 and 10000 is typical peak it was withing 1 hp of peak all the way to 9600 so its a good reving motor imo. If i would have loaded the bike a bit more it would have peaked higher. The wompus is available with serval or cub timings.
  3. No more than some do to a stock cylinder when welding that area. They are but unless holding a stock cylinder right next to it its really difficult to tell
  4. Ok guys here is the deal. We have had our 4mm stroke 68mm bore 421 wompus cylinder done for a few weeks. We have took it to the dunes at little sahara 2 times now and only got called out by one person that it wasnt a stock cylinder. We were telling everybody it was not to try and be sneaky but by Calvins request to see how many people would really be able to catch it. The motor had every opportunity to be caught in a full Stellar chassis and 2 out the left out of frames it was easy to see. Lots of lookers and lots of comments on the way it run people just couldnt believe it was a stock cylinder lol! My honest opinion of the motor is this. Its exactly like a cub power wise and installation. Our little test said it all for me as far as looks goes as almost no one was able to tell. We did dyno it just like we dyno all of our 4mm cubs and the power was right on par. This was a fully drag ported wompus with shearer pipes lectrons on alky and so on just like we do on our cubs. Here is the dyno chart and pictures of installed on the bike. Also want to add that Calvin is finishing up a stock appearing head with interchangeable domes that looks exactly like stock and will use most mfg domes. Good Job Calvin!!
  5. With a flat plate 22cc volume dome at sea level should put you about 13.1:1 if i done my math correctly so that would be a little bit much for pump fuel. At elevation that should be about right with little to no added timing. Taking Jon down to a flat plate volume of 24cc which should put him at 12.1:1.
  6. We have had tons of dyna's fail so we typically try and stay with the stock cdi. Not because the dyna isnt a cdi just because of the unreliability. With the dyna software you can only upload the curves to the box there is no way to know 100% if they are actually in the cdi, and I have had other dyna cdi not take the curve and said it did. I am confident that the stator or the dyna is causing his problem as Jon has had hell with motors in the last few months. Im cutting him another set of domes as well to get the compression ratio down a bit. Andy
  7. The hotrod 4mm crank is welded but not sufficiently it needs more or it will still come apart. Checking a crank for true is getting the crank to run straight from the pto shaft to the flywheel shaft. Basically you dont want any wobble in the crank when its spinning on the bearings. This is a different process than balancing, balancing will actually have to be done with the complete rotating assembly. Welding the outside pin keeps the crank from separating or spinning out of true.
  8. The Blue line is a 421 cub drag motor were talking ported, alky, oof pipes the whole nine yards. so yes drag port timings can make bottom end its just not as easy and it will make big power everywhere. The green line is a 535 pv cheetah you can tell right where the powervalves open completely and how low the power comes on. The motor is gas, inframes, and in a duner chassis, cause thats exactly what it is a duner. The cub feels way faster cause the power hits hard from the bottom but has the "comes on low power" as the easy riding serval and then crushes it up the face of the curve. The cheetah feels alot like the serval just way faster from bottom to top and it should its a lot bigger motor. My point is that making bottom end does not have to come from very low ports, small carbs and small reeds its just not as easy to get. I will say that when i started i liked higher port timings on my drag motors as it was the easiest way to make power but more power can be made from bottom to top with a lower port its just alot harder to find. Both of these motors have 40mm+ carbs shearer pipes and big high flowing reeds and dwarf any serval graph to date, BUT the are not pump gas low compression motors. Both of them are higher compression more timing motors that will not run on pump fuel and alot more expensive to build. Making big numbers from bottom to top like this is not nearly as easy or as rideable as a serval is but it can be done. Most people would not like riding this much power in the trails or woods and complain about no bottom end when in fact its just too much everywhere, if thats possible .
  9. I guess I don't understand what your trying to say gary but I assure you my pulse settings are correct.
  10. Its my understanding that the cpi with stock reeds and stock carbs did not fair nearly as well as the bigger carbs and reeds? I guess i dont understand your question. I am a little out of the loop on Nates testing i did talk to him some on it but not in depth.
  11. Its all in that other post i started. Basic setup thought 140lbs compression, 91oct fuel, .045 squish stock flywheel, +3 timing, stock drivetrain I think its great that you guys did the testing i just dont think you gave the test the proper chance to see real results. CPI's or shearers are absolutely not going to like the boyseen reed or small carbs that you guys put on there and thats why i think that the pc came out on top in the test it likes the intake setup that didnt flow near as well. Its funny that you ask. As I have seen so many people say that cubs just dont have any bottom end most of the time because of either the way there built. Or most likely because when they do hit they hit so hard that nobody wants that in the trail anyway. Dont get me wrong a serval setup like i think a serval should be setup (pump gas) is a killer setup but a cub can make the power and then some. Here are 3 graphs, the lower one is the 421 serval, the other two are different motors not servals. Ill let everybody speculate for a little while what they are before i tell. mm2.pdf
  12. Here is my run with 34's vforce III and cpi's overlayed on top of your curve hope you dont mind. Another reputable builder did the cpi's and the shearers back to back and they were identical up the face but the shearers peaked about another 1000 higher and made another 6hp. I understand that differences in dynos day to day even can make a diff but its interesting to see diff setups. When talking about usable power which is what you guys sound like you want. We want the power to come on low as possible and carry it as high possible so we have the broadest power curve we can make.
  13. Robert start with a 160 main cel needle and and the stock pilot and you will be real close.
  14. I think the testing you guys did is great and you probably feel that you have a killer setup (and you do) but your did what you thought would be unfair on our test on your own. You thought that the t5's or any other pipe would not do well without the rest of the setup like you wanted it but then did just that to the cpi. I have compared my dyno charts to many other dyno jets across the country even on the exact same bike. Infact the day we brought our dyno home we tested a bike on that we had just dynoed on a dynojet about an hour from here then tested it here and they were withing 1hp. Im not interested in peak numbers now nor ever but more so usable power thats why i would like to overlay the curve. From what i have tested and seen i feel like that if this setup did this well then a different pipe/carb/reed would have been even better. I guess im just going to have come up with some PC small carbs and see if i can duplicate your results. Good job guys.
  15. As would I, all my charts are hp/tq over rpm...mph can be very misleading when reading dyno charts. Another note there have been other tests done on low end style pipes compared to the cpi and shearer pipe and the shearer and cpi always came out on top. Your rebuttal to the tests were that all of the "low end" parts were not used such as your 28's and reeds. So on these test why not the same? How do YOU know that your pc's 28's and reeds are the best when you didnt compare to shearers/cpi's bigger carbs and vforce III's?? I have some more charts of our serval and i would like to overlay it on your graphs to see how they compare but they would need to be in rpm. Also was the cylinder ported at all or as cast from cp?
  16. No sir, I put nobody in front of any others I go as far as I can on one job and move on to the next simple as that. You got in absolutely no hurry to get me your parts but want all your stuff now if you would have sent me your stuff when you ordered your parts there wouldn't have been any issue. I have very little patience for rude customers like yourself. Calling in being rude wont get you anywhere in my shop. Your order did take longer than the avg but that was on you not me. I only talked to you maybe 2-3 times during this whole process not countless. Ans as I stated before I didn't even have a tranny order for you at all that's not the way we do business. It doesn't surprise me your tranny took awile I had no order for you so it was by luck I got one cut as quick as I did. I don't do case work or tranny work without a order being placed thats just our policy but u seem to think you are an exception. I am done with this argument I think we will both be better off. Good day
  17. First of all you got everything you paid for as i reimbursed you for your polishing. I dont do polishing in house now nor will I ever and i cant control what happens outside of my shop. I never told you your cylinder was done (ported and polished) i told you your cylinder was done cast and plated i was out of them when you ordered them and that is what i told you. I also never told you not to send your cases or tranny in to me why would i tell you not to send stuff to me that i have to work on that makes no sense at all. What i did say is that i wont send your stuff back to you until i get it all done so i can save you on shipping which i didn't charge you anyway. You arbitrarily decided to wait 2 months to send them in and i had forgotten about the whole thing as i didn't have your cases or tranny to cut. I don't keep cut cases on the shelf now nor will i ever. I do try and stock cores for my customers on the tranny but that is purely a convenience as most people just cut yours as do i if i don't have any cores. Furthermore you didn't even have a tranny on order with me at all, you say we talked about it but you have to understand that i have hundreds of people talk to me about motors and parts everyday, nothing is sold in my shop until its paid for or i would have a ton of parts here that nobody ever picks up. When somebody waits 2 months to send there parts in to get cut then raises hell on the internet and on the phone cause there in such a big hurry am i supposed to put them in front of everybody, seriously??? I gave you almost a $430 discount on your kit and shipped your stuff for free which was $58 and you had the nerve to ask for more discounts cause you had to wait, ya right. In reality you waited a little over a month for your cases and tranny and if you called in today and ask for a lead time it would probably be 2. Does it take a month or even 2 to cut a tranny or a set of cases? No but i am very busy and i dont put people in front of others because nobody is more important than the next. I have customers that spend 10k on a single motor and then buy chassis, suspension, controls, hell even paint from me and they will wait just the same as you. If you got told that your stuff was shipping that day and it didn't I apologize it wasnt because i was putting you off when i tell someone that i have every intention of that happening, sometimes it just dont happen the way we intend. Im sure there are many other builders and parts slingers around that have a way quicker turn around than me but there is a reason why im busy. If you choose to not do business with me anymore so be it thats your choice let it go and everybody will go there own way. Andy
  18. I recived your cases and tranny the first of feb and you placed your order on our black fri special so nice try on the oct exagerration. I got your cases done today hoping to ship tomorrow or thurs so I finished in less than 3 weeks and I was closed for more than a week of that due to weather. You took 2 months to ship me your cases and tranny but want them done overnight typical customer. Andy Sorry to hijack the thread but felt a need to respond to me being called out.
  19. Made it in today around 10:30 glad to be back working on the ranch is hard work when there is this much snow. Here is a picture of my front door.
  20. this was the worst blizzard ive seen. We usually get on big snow a year but I think this was a record we got almost 19". On top of the fact that we have lots of cattle to feed and ponds to break ice on. We leave 30 min from the shop so it turns into a 2 hour drive with this idiots on the road. Might try to make it in in the morning just have to see what the roads are like.
  21. Were at about 14" right now with huge drifts and its still coming down
  22. ok guys due to record amounts of snow we are oing to close the shop untill we are able to get there. We will reopen asap. Thanks for your patience. Thanks Andy M&M ATV
  23. You got it: Anything with serval in it is a trail/dune port layout Anything with wompus in it is a stock appearing layout Anything with super in it is a 72mm bore so a super serval wompus would be a stock appearing 72mm bore trail/dune motor lmao this is too many cylinders.
  24. They are done now i have the first 10mm at the platers as we speak. No need for a power valve on a serval the port timings are already low. If you want a pv buy a cheetah. There will be all stroke combinations and all exterior formats from what calvin is telling me. Cub Super Cub Serval Cub Super Serval Cub Wompus super wompus Serval Wompus Super serval wompus ect... lol this is to many cylinders i really dont know how Calvin does it. Not sure when they will all be done but the wompus is done i have one, and the servals in ss 4mm and 10mm are done i have them as well.
  25. There is actually going to be a stock stroke 4 7 and 10 serval.
