  1. BUY IT! Give him 2000 cash, hell take it. Bring a compression tester, and test the compression. That will really get his nerves a shakin! Coming from experience, i knocked about 500 off the asking price of my old 87 bringing my tester. I got her for like 1400 3 years ago, it was ragged out tho..
  2. If you have a buddy with a bansh, start switching shit until u find the problem. I have heard that it is very rare for a coil to go bad, i bet its your stator or CDI.
  3. Ive used metal window screen that works good, but will bur out after a while. If it comes down to it, it will work!!
  4. OK, trying to button up this rebuild... I cant get the kickstart to engage properly. where does the tab on the spring go?? I see a couple locations for it to sit, but neither of them seem right. When i go to kick it over, the gear passes the main gear on the basket. Seems like i need that back spring in the right place. If anyone has a pic of how it sits, that would be great!! Also, i lost my position on the set screw for the clutch adjustment. Is there a good rule of thumb here so i can just adjust with the perch? (maybe like once you feel tension, 2 turns, 3 turns whatever.) My manual does not go into any of this detail, so i need you guys here! Thanks alot, JD\\
  5. Yep i think so.. Jury won the auction, and knew i wanted them as well. He PMed me that he was sellin em, now they are mine! They were the silvervein ones. Roll design must make em then..
  6. hahaha, no thanks! Did you pull it off tho?? hmm i guess i could do it, we did fab up a nice motor mount for it, could be sturdy on a log or something
  7. Just installed some just like those. They look great, and look a shit ton tougher than the stock J's
  8. You could use some RTV to make sure those o-rings are good to. That would ensure a seal especially since youll be changing it often. Sounds like a pain to me, but to each his own i guess!!
  9. make sure the gas tank is out, along with the plugs too  I usually take mine out the flywheel side of the frame. Nice and easy....
  10. sweet, cant wait to get lights goin again. Now to find some cheapo car fog lights until i can afford better. Know of any brand to get that will stay around 30W a piece?
  11. cool. so no problem tying them all in together. i.e have one ground for both lights, and one side of the awitch for the 2 yellow wires for each light? so for the finale.... Yellow from stator on one side of switch both yellows (one from each light) to the other side of the switch ground the ground wires from each light
  12. WOW didnt think it would be that simple. SO i can tie both the lights yellow wires together on one side of the switch. And yellow from the stator to the other and done. I just cap the black wires from the lights, or ground those?
  13. well i think i got it, but there is no yellow/red coming from the stator. Only on the swich side there is a yellow/red. So i just follow that back, and use that corresponding solid yellow wire that is after the connector right?
  14. ok so if i get this right... Run the yellow wire from the stator (high beam) to one side of the switch. And the yellow from the light to the other side. Thats all i need?? That yellow from the stator is common power correct?? ( the yellow wire that changes to yellow/red on the switch side that is) Im running a simple toggle, and want to clean things up a bit. I only want high beams. I thought i would need a ground? I dont have a tailight..
  15. Thats why i left the spun bolts/inserts in the tank, and ziptied the tank and side fenders together! LOL :yelrotflmao:
  16. Well, i have the BHQ electrical pages printed out, and the diagram i have is faded away.... SO, im running stockers to begin with, and heres my plan (i only want high beams BTW).. Tell me if this will work or not Run the green wire (high beam correct?) up to one side of the switch. Extend the black (ground) wire from the main harness to the other side of the switch. Connect the green and black wires going to the lights, to the green and black wires on the lights. This should work right? to my knowledge green will be getting juice until its grounded. Please chime in! Thanks guys... I was told to just cap the other wires like blue, yellow w/red tracer, etc...
  17. Thats cool a few of you will be there. My motor is currently in pieces, but i should be able to pull it off in time!
  18. Man, im on my second season with the tusk kit. Just blew apart my basket, and the fibers looked great (besides the ones that broke). I actually can vow a pretty good word for the tusk set. But i will be calling Jeff soon for one of his setups!
  19. true that, but u know how it is when this shit starts to add up! I guess im not in the stock power range anymore, and should fork it over for the nice shit...
  20. cool, well if i decide to go billet which i prolly wont for now, ill let you know about getting one of those big gears. Thanks bud...
  21. damn man, im already is 75 for new seals and bearings. I was guna get a new (used) stock setup with the hub and everything for 150. U really think i need to go billet?? Im kinda scrapin for cash but i dont want this to happen anytime soon.... and no, i have not touched the basket since i owned the bike... By the way, more pics in the images section...
  22. Well i blew out my basket and half my plates this weekend. I need a new basket, and pretty much everything since the cover ( i think its called the hub) has a nice groove in it now too. Please help me out!!
  23. Well i have found the culprit.... The fucking basket is shattered, along with 4 clutch plates. A nice piece of basket got lodged between the gear and seal shredding it to shit. I got so lucky, there is so much metal, all the gears are mint. SO really, im happy with what happened. Just dont know why the basket blew out, heres some pics, ill get more carnage up later.... SO badass, if you know anyone with a basket setup, i need this shit so i can ride memorial weekend. Ill be able to fix it if i can get these parts!! Thanks in advance for anyone that can help me!!
  24. cool, who is it on here who sells the leakdown kits?? maybe ill just run up to the hardware stioe and make one... Thanks for all the replies, i hope that seal is te problem. Makes sense to me....
  25. Damn man, mine just started doing the same thing after riding this weekend. Mine however smells like shit burning oil, so i figure its the crank seal. Im interested to see whats going on here, maybe i could get lucky and have a broken reed too ohh yea, and good luck with instaling the seal w/o spliting the cases, let us know what u find out, that would be sick!
