  1. be camping at wash 17 if anyone needs anything......but we go to bed at sunset........
  2. okay, took the carb apart for at least the fifth time, but this time took the choke apart cleaned it all and went back together, went to start it and it just cranked.....turned the choke on and it started, turned it off and it died.....(before tear down was barely noticeable on/off)so cranked up the idle screw a little and warmed it up seems good to go, shook the hell out of it and it did not stall.....I think we nailed it, will know for sure this weekend when we get a chance to ride at Glamis I'll give a full report. thanks for all the help......I knew I wasn't the only idiot that has a wife.....
  3. nice....I can't wait
  4. how hot was it?
  5. gonna check it out tomorrow, but it seems to work, when its cold starts right up w/choke, but no verification it is turning off.....thanks for the tip, any other ideas......we are leaving thrursday night...
  6. going to Glamis this weekend, anyone going? I will be at Olds most of the weekend, my bike is an 04 red and white, if anyone wants to line-up.....
  7. it's an 03 z-400 (wife's bike) and last season she started complaining that while going up/down dunes and pulling in the clutch, the bike would stall, and would not re-start unless she gave it some throttle, runs fine, but stalls, I cleaned and serviced everything (twice) and still have problems, I did find that the throttle cable was frayed at the carb end so I replaced it, and it still has the same problem, today I played with it, and if you start it up it idles fine, but if you shake the bike, it stalls, and you have to give it maybe 1/4 throttle before it starts again, now I have not change any parts since new, it has a yoshi slip on and no lid on the airbox, and foam filter, we ride at glamis/sea-level, I think the main is 160, and pilot is 22.5 this problem developed late last season, and we are going to the desert again this weekend, and would like to figure it out oh yeah, I was convinced it was an electrical problem, so I disconnected and serviced every electrical connector on the bike, with dielectrical grease, and no improvement, any advise would be appreciated, oh took it to the local Suzuki Dealership, they tried to get me to Adjust valves, new chain and sprocket, carb svc oil change and spark plug, for strters, and then they could further diagnose the problem.......the bike has less than 20 hours, and has not been ridden hard, I drain the fuel every ride, and bought a Clymers manual, still can't figure it out. thanks for the help....... p.s. I already suggested a second banshee.....
  8. oooooh....how hard is it to get methanol? how hard to change the carbs? and is it worth it? and is methanol easy to find?
  9. c'mon someone has used flatslides before I am sure!
  10. any chance you disconnected the choke tuibe? balance tube?
  11. sorry, I re-read your post and see you included your elevation earlier.....I still say 260-270 main and do a plug chop....
  12. honestly, I would try stock pilot, stock needle, middle clip, and 260 main do a plug chop and see where your at.
  13. USMC, from 93-98......black out was pretty cool, but very limited for speed....I agree, but look hella cool....I say do it. maybe you could get some trail tech head lamps, and tint the covers? I like the idea, and I am old....ha-ha
  14. dang........that's crazy
  15. yes you can run those carbs, however, you will have to run it fairly lean and would not have as much benefit as running stock carbs or maybe 28-30mm carbs....I vote for trading those big carbs for some porting....
  16. stock pilots, needle in the middle, and 270-280 mains should do......
  17. aha....tors removal w/out drilling the stock carbs? you may be able to temporoary fix by adjusting the cable at the carb tops but you should drill and tap per Toomey website instructions.
  18. I know all banshees are different, but I have "huge" porting lots of compression/timing, and I am running 300 mains, and plug chop shows slightly rich. w/stock carbs...I am also at sea-level
  19. 2 person? who's gonna hold your beer?
  20. best pipes I ever had were paul turner mids......sold them to buy my Toomeys.......oops, pulled like a four stroke bottom end, and had better top-end then a stock banshee, pull any gear also.
  21. then don't let off the throttle, see if it reacts to carb spray anywhere other than the intake......don't forget crank seals....
  22. do you have a picture?
  23. well, what is it?
  24. what elevation are you at? 280 should be plenty, even at sea-level w/your mods...
