ok, here are pics of what im talking about.. finally got my digi cam working. The first picture is the right side pipe, the 2nd is showing how far apart the header and the silencer are where they are "connected" if you call it that.. 3rd is the left side pipe, and of course 4th is the right header where it comes to the silencer.. a good connection IMO, but the problem is if there is a good connection, the connection from pipe to engine is poor (see pic 1) if the connection is good from pipe to engine (see pic 3) then the connection to the silencer is bad (see pic 4) Lasty I wonder if my engine isnt centered or if its in the wrong spot... see picture 5, if it lets me post it, if not.. see next post.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...2482487628&rd=1 I just cant let this one happen... SOMEONE do me a favor and buy this thing that lives near there.. You could take the engine out and sell that for nearly what its going for right now.. $2,500.00, ends in like 30 mins!

It tells you something when you jsut got a hell of a port job done that your really pleased with and your wishing you sent it to you guys instead... wow. Any way to change my port to your port

I checked over the flywheel nut, tight as it should be.. so I figured I would kick it over and see if that sound came back.. Made sure I wasnt hitting anything, and boom.. started up 2nd kick. SO.... What we've learned here.. My banshee not only is insane... it has a mind of its own and can make funny noises when it wants too.

I was using stockers, and I just got my billet aftermarket ones the other day.. I went to install them and this is when I came to the conclusion that my pipes dont fit the way they should... IMO, When the silencer is mounted with both screws, and the front pipe is attached, they should come together EASILY.. Mine....ya.. I wish I could take a video of my trying to get the bastards to fit. It almost makes me wonder if my engine isnt on straight but I thought of that before and have no idea how to see

I have FMF gold series (old school ones) and brand new FMF Q series silencers. I had the pipes hooked up to old school power cores before, and they seemed to fit fair, but since I switched to the Q series the left right pipe spatters oil/gas out of it right where it meets the engine. and then on the left side I cant get the pipe to come together with the silencer to put the clamp on.. The only way I can get it close is if i practically pull the pipe off of the engine. Do these 2 pipes just not fit together? or am I doing something wrong? OR does FMF just not make a very good fitting pipe

Sounds to me like your jets are probably clogged.. A good carb cleaning using an air pump for pressure and blowing them out should do the trick.. After you clean them all out, let them sit open so they can air out. Then whipe them down good and make sure you can see through your main. blow into the place that the fuel hooks up too, if you can blow through it fuel is more then likely getting into them. Make sure to clean up the float bowls good as well.. Let us know what happens.. Mine wouldnt start for 2 years, cleaned the carbs and BAM As far as the compression and the mechanic saying it will start with 100 psi.. IMO that all depends on the machine.. Was he a mechanic for a dealership?

Ya but I did ride on it hard AFTER I let it idle so long.. I ran a full tank of gas through it since. I just woke up, so its time to start on her.. I will keep you posted. ***If my jetting is off would that make it hard to start?***
-
so if it didnt change colors whats the point?
-
i personally would just use like a holeshot or a good dirt tire.. they will hook up fairly well in sand and gravel.. not as well in sand as a sand tire, but if you use a sand tire in gravel it will pretty much kill it.. *i think* Maybe use a shreader (sp?)
-
I havent heard much good about geckos.. People that have ran them I've heard get rid of them after 1 ride. Just some input. Are you talking riding some days at the dunes and some days in gravel? or when you ride there is a combo of the 2?
-
Or you can use a hairdryer... Same effect, little less painful if you get too close
-
too much. If your engine used that much fuel every cycle.. we would all need 30 gallon fuel tanks for a few hour ride.
-
you have a good point there.. i suggest you try putting some fuel into the spark plug hole, then try and start it like that a few times.. try this a few times. If that doesnt work, then i would guess that air is your problem. However, it is interesting that you mention no fuel.. i like how you think. What do you all think about that?

Ok, this is my recent happenings... Added Trinity 35mm single carb setup, went up to the next bore (.040), got a port & polish, and put on new silencers. I broke the engine in VERY nicely.. i feel that I broke it in more then enough.. Did countless heat cycles.. then ran a full tank of gas through it never exceeding 18 MPH (i have a speedometer) The powerband was never hit, and this use of a tank of gas was not one straight shot. it was used up slowly becuase I stopped and let it cool down completely every 30 mins. After I ran that tank (24:1) I let it idle for 45 mins non stop without revs or anything, just sat there. Then I started the next tank being fairly gentle. Drove it for about 15 mins (after a 10 minute warm-up @ idle) never really ripping on it.. maybe 1/2 to 2/3 throttle at most. Then I gave it to her. MY RIDE ENDED when my radiator hose came unhooked from the head. I had people standing right next to me because I was showing my bike to them, so they noticed it when it came unhooked. I saw smoke (within seconds of the unhook) and shut it off INSTANTLY. I just got home, hooked up the hose, tightened it down TIGHT put new anti-freeze in.. and thats where I am.. I will go check and see if I was hitting anything, but I dont think I was. There is nothing near my bike and the kicker went all the way down. I'm gonna get the clymers out tomarrow, i have the day off.. So any tips or things I should check I would appreciate GREATLY. Could it be anything in my kick starter? Just not gripping or something? It is an 87.. So shits old! I want to get this fixed up though, so I will start early tomarrow. As far as a crank bearing.. Whats the easiest way to get to that without taking something off that will need a new gasket or something when i put it back on?

Son of a ***** Went to go start her up to keep her fresh since I havent started for a week. Kicked it a few times and nothing (choke out) put the choke in, TRIED to start.. So I said to myself.. Ok, after work I will put some SHOES on.. and try then Got home, went to start.. with choke out, tried to start once..put choke in, tried to start 2 times.. then I kicked it and it almost felt as if when i kicked it down, something other then a piston moved.. kinda sounds like if you take your mouse and hit it on the mousepad.. (had to hit things till i got a noise you all could make ) So now I'm like ok.. it sounds like its gonna start...but I dont want to kick it if its gonna do that.. So i kicked it again, made a normal noise.. kicked it again, normal tried to start a little.. kicked it again and that odd noise. SO There may have been less times of it "trying" to start, but I was flustered so ya.. Basically I just want to know what the hell that noise was. Hope it doesnt cost me more $$.. She normally starts up if she "tries" to start.. So I feel confident that it would have started in a few more kicks.. but I didnt want to risk kicking it if something wasnt right.

good deal... NOW, i have another problem...hope it doesnt hurt me, but it will be in a new thread.

Hey, I've been noticing that I have a leak where my pipes come to the engine. Only on the left side, but its sputtering oil or gas or mix of the 2, who knows.. I'm thinking that with the amount that comes out its gonna hurt my performance, not to mention get oil all over my garage and trailer and whatnot.. SO, is there supposed to be a seal in there that is missing? Whats up...pipe just on crooked? Any suggestions appreciated.. (sp?)
-
If you keep kicking it over, gas will build up inside of the pipes (flooded) With a 2 stroke you need 3 things to run.. Perfectly timed spark, fuel, and air.. You said you have fuel.. and spark.. so if your pupe was full of gas, it wouldnt exactly get air.. Also it will sound sort of odd when you kick it over.. More of a BURBLE instead of piston compression.. Like my sound FX? So, if you have your exhaust working, make sure you are getting air through the carbs (clean filter).. If your spark is perfect.. I would suggest making sure the carbs are clean.. and also seeing if you have an air leak.. After that, I would say the compression is your killer...but everyone else is saying no. so, go with their word, they know more then me

hurray for boonman ! Have a bucket ready when you empty your pipes.. Mine had about 1/2 gallon in each. You were talking about removing the head... dont do that until youve narrowed it down to something in there.. Otherwise your wasting time, and money.

hey, you think you might be interested in a trade for some nice custom parts =)
