Ive heard that what I did was a bad, but it did work... so I used the puller then took a large locking wrench and locked onto the outer most portion of the flywheel (its the piece on the very front that sticks out slightly) then I made a torque arm for that (apprx 2-3 feet) then with another wrench on the puller I put a torque arm on that to get some leverage.. Before attempting this I lathered it up with some liquid wrench. Using a hammer to impact the torque arm it came almost right off. But like I said before, people would tell you that this method could damage the flywheel. Air impact wrenches should work, but if it didnt for you I would just say keep trying. Its gotta be loosening up the more you try it.

Hey all, I havent posted on here since I left for school, but now that it's getting close to the end of the year I need to start thinking about my banshee.. I have an 87 and the suspension is horrible. I basically have 3 options, one would be to get some new J arms and replace my shocks with stock new ones. (cheap way) My other option is to do an A-arm conversion...and then get the new stock shocks like mentioned before. The last option is that I've seen D arms out there. I'm not sure as towards where I could get them, but I'm sure if I needed them someone here could point me in a nice direction. So basically I just want to know what the best option is.. How tough is it to do the A-arm conversion, and which one would give me the greatest results.. I dont plan on extending them or getting great shocks or anything because I'm trying not to dump alot of money in her this year. If you have done any of my "options" let me know how the change went and weather or not you would do it the same way if giving the choice again. Thanks in advance because I might not check back for a while.

Leaving for school tomarrow... If anyone wants these pipes shoot me an offer.. I am looking to get like $200

I have a picture that I want some photoshop work done to. It's nothing special, just like a header, but I have no idea how to do it.. So anyone that can help me out, IM me on AIM at gunzrtoyz. Thanks

this may not be in, but it could give you some ideas. When your jetting is off, sometimes a warm engine will show symtoms more then a cold engine. Hence, if your engine starts fine when cold, and has trouble when warm, your jetting may be off. Check what fro said, then if that all checks out, see if your jetting is good.

If I put them on ebay I think they will go for around $200 + shipping, give or take of course. If I dont get something close to that I will probably throw them on ebay, but first dibs goes to the HQ'ers.

will give that a try next week, I sure hate to see my new pretty pipes get oil all over them
-
I have the billet exhaust clamps, supposidly wont leak... But they are, any reasons mine might be? Both sides have smoke coming out, so that means I'm not at my potential for power. Also there is oil coming out at the clamp, is that mean my crank seal is bad... I sure hope not, and if it does, does that NEED to be fixed ASAP, or can I let it go till riding season is over?

sorry it took so long.. here is a pic of the visible side when mounted, and the patched spot, and the silencers. I dont really have a price.. sorry, just throw an offer, reasonable wont be refused.

didnt sell the 87 huh? probably will get more then 2,000 out of it that way.. =) Shoulda bought it to part out.. -
I'm pretty sure its all the way in... If something on it was holding it from going in, me pushing as hard as I could shoulda made it budge! I think my engine might not be centered... How do I check that I've got all tonight to work on her, but friday night I get home from work at 8 and am heading up north with her for 2 weeks, so... I kinda need to fix it ASAP! If I cut it down... and I had everything mounted right, just bent frame or offset engine, whatever, it should go on fine from then on out right? Cause I dont plan on getting rid of them.. So..

Limited is ok.. If they dont have white I will shit a brick. Spray paint it is.. Thanks for the tips, I figured I wouldnt be able to do em.

I want to get my j-arms powdercoated white, I have them stripped of almost all paint, they need to be cleaned up though cause I tried to sand them a little and since they have rusted.. But if you do powdercoating or have a near by person that does good work for cheap let me know. Thanks Just post the price, then I will handle shipping.

good thing I posted... I was going to do it. the hangers are off, and the silencer is hooked on, the mounting holes are still away about an inch and a half, and in order to get them to fit, I had to push with all my might and have someone put the bolt in... That also bent the bracket a little and offset the other mounting hole on the silencer. It made it sit about 2 inches further away from the hole it hooks too.. That is the one where it mounts to the grab bar. Any suggestions? Why cant I grind down the pipe?

In michigan I have the same restrictions. I think its 96 dB at silver lake, and of course spark arrestors needed. So my quad is set up to be legal as far as all that mumbo jumbo goes. I have FMF Fatties and Q Series silencers. The Q series lower the sound so much you wouldnt even believe. I'm probably at about 85 maybe a little more as far as dB's goes.. FMF pipes are really good for mid. I do alot of the same riding as you, trails where its not open, give it gas, get on brakes, gas, brakes, and on and on.. I would suggest lightening your flywheel, it will bring you into the powerband a little faster. Also the pipes are a great way to add power, and seeing how you have the cool head, it will compliment all that so you will gain even more then just adding pipes. I would start there and work your way up. The 2:1 setup is great, once jetted in Hope that helps..

My first and last... 87 banshee. bought it in 2001 with a white powerband, and now its red.
-
My left side pipe and silencer fit together but the silencer doesnt line up with the holes int he frame.. They are actually pretty far away, about 1 1/2 inches too far back. Just wanted to know if its ok to grind down the header where it meets the silencer?
-
Trinity told me that I should only get the 35 if I was going to mod my engine.. They said that it would be very hard to jet the 35 if my engine was stock.
-
lighten the flywheel, remove the airbox, add a K&N filter... It all depends on how much you want to spend. Your mods are going to be restricted if you use the stock exhaust, but if you MUST keep it then you have no other choice. Out of curiousity what are the restrictions and where are you located? I know that here in Michigan it just needs to meet the forestry guidelines, which are spark arrestors.. Post a price you want to go with, then people can suggest what is best. Also what type of riding are you doing? Low speed? Mid range? Racing? That will all determine what mods.

response trigger can shoot faster then $1,000 guns?
-
Piped and bored 3 sizes over to 620cc....... WOW...thats all I'm saying on this one.. WOW We need to introduce this kid to the fastest and most powerful gun ever..
-
My personal oppinion on color schemes... This is what looks best, IMO. Frame color = X Front Plastics = Y Radiator Plastics = X Rear Plastics = Y Upper Arms = Y Lower Arms = X Swingarm = Y Seat Cover looks good when you combo X and Y, and then add another color that just makes it flow.. Often a darker color. Darrin

ummm.....so which one? FMF said its an OEM, so I will just pick up a few at the stealership tomarrow... probably will charge $4.00 per

Hockey390 replied to oldturtle's topic in General Banshee Discussion
sounds to me like something on your bike just doesnt line up right maybe? mine fits perfectly between the 2, and i havent heard anyone else comment on a poor fit. as far as jetting, i think I'm going to move my clip position because I have a poor low end. i just ran at the dunes for like 45 mins and looked today at my plugs and they look pretty good, so my mains are close. I bought it to give me more low end, but I still think my power down low sucks, so thats a sign she isnt jetted in right. We will see...we will see... Do you have a digi cam? Take a picture of how yours fits and post it up. Darrin
