  1. im in if its the second week of august..
  2. Good tip, thank you much... I will probably end up doing day rides.. like drive up EARLY, ride all day, go home that night.. next day do it again, just a different spot..
  3. Just got a fresh topend and has about 2 hours on it.. And that time is all break in and heat cycles and whatnot. My head is milled and shaped for the type of gas I use, and that includes the milling down it had done, which I have no idea what its at now, but was .020 taken off.. My compression is around 165, so its jussssssst fine. I think my problem is jetting if htat can cause that.. i have done many mods and not jetted it in yet.. I took a day off work to go do it, and figures, my shop had NO jets... figures... I read all the jetting FAQ's and your how-to and everything, good stuff... I think my pilot is wrong and my needle need to go down one more then I should be pretty close.. I seem to have alot of power up top, and the powerband comes in REALLY fast up high.. I have a 2:1 carb setupd with a 35mm carb.. so I have no idea what its at right now for mains and crap, cause I havent taken it apart. They gave me 185 and 190 mains along with whatever is in there.. and then they gave me a (might be wrong, dont have them in front of me) 39 pilot as well... Steer me in the right direction for jetting Ben! =) I was told a 260 main, 39 pilot, needle on 4th clip should be my starter.. but based on what I got with my carb, i doubt my main is anywhere above 200.. so is that a bad place to start?
  4. so can you use stock shocks with +2+1 arms?
  5. That is a good point, but the hard starting problem is not the only reason I would get it. BUT, since we are on the topic, what types of other things would contribute to a poor start... As far as the coil, my spark seems to be strong everytime I've kicked her over (when testing for spark) never misses if that is possible, but sure, its an 87, could be better.... I was thinking of purchasing a ricky stator with timing plate and all that good stuff, but I'm done with work at the end of July and I leave for school the 3rd week of august. From the 1st to the time i leave, I want no down time at all... How long would it take me to setup the stator? probably easier then the DYNA now that I think about it, but someone confirm this please. Anyways, just shooting the bull i guess, who knows if I will get it or not.. I think for 300 i will look into some +2+1 D-arms and A-arms.. wont be 300, but thats a better start then 0.
  6. hearing that is exactly what I needed... Purchasing a DYNA tomarrow, just gotta make sure I get the one for an 87.. Thanks
  7. Hey, I have an 87, and have posted on here questions regarding the DYNA ignition before, but now I dont want to know reviews... I just want to know a few answers. My 87 is pretty damn hard to start when its been sitting a week or 2, I have been starting her every day, letting it warm up, zipping down the road and back, then cooling it off, shutting her down, and putting her away almost everyday if I can. But I went to start it today after it sat a week and probably kicked it over a good 10-15 times before it tried to start, and probably another 5 to get it started after that. Questions Will the DYNA ignition.... 1)Make my shee easier to start when cold? 2)Give me the same effect as a timing advance? 3)Give me any performance gains? Thats it, if you can answer one of those... please do, and give more then just alittle yes or no.. tell me why or what it does to do that if you can.. Thanks a bunch guys!
  8. Sorry that this is off topic, but did you assemble it in the basement? How will you get it out..
  9. send pictures of front rims & tires + price shipped to 48603 email [email protected]
  10. didnt notice people were still posting on this a little.. heres an update.. Ordered my chain slider, STILL HASNT COME! grrrrrr (back-ordered) Put FMF Q Series silencers on instead of the turbines.. it lowers my noise ALOT, and spark arrested so I will get by.. Got Holeshot fronts on beadlocks, they are kinda small but get the job done Added on my new Sandstars on ITP C-Series, oh wow I love these... Still prepping the J-arms for paint.. Just gonna get some spray paint I think cause PC in town is not cheap! And last but not least, front bumper... Still havent decided on one, I think i'm gonna get an all black stock from an LE.
  11. Some oils wont mix well together, sort of like mixing water and oil, instead of mixing up and working together, they will seperate causing actual loss of lubrication. If you worry enough to wonder which oil to use, or what ratio, then you should not hesitate to do the full cleanout prior to switching.
  12. Price is $350 obo now
  13. $72.63 for shipping to 19057
  14. you know, i asked them the same thing... "how did you know to put arrows? did they say, 75s, arrow pointing right?" I dunno, just thoguht maybe someone had heard it before and could help out, or someone that is crazy like that and could actually figure it out. now that I think about it...its a local show...Then I thought wow, we have 75 south, and we have 23, we also have 96 westbound..SO, now for the 145... Im thinking exit 145, which takes you to West Grand River Ave.. That of course wouldnt be a riddle, but would be driving directions.. SO, the person that told me this is now going to get told they are an idiot........ Anyone else have a good riddle?
  15. I dont dislike the new LE, but I think it was a poor attempt to give the shee a "different" look.. not meaning shape, just instead of BANSHEE, or 2 stroke liquid cooled stickers... As far as carbon fiber goes, if you look at it, its basically black plastics, with a zig-zag pattern or grey lines to give it the carbon fiber look.. looks kinda like carbon fiber from like 10 feet, but anything closer that then and your just like..wow, are you kidding me? At least thats what I did..
  16. I LOVE PB.... I'm on a 5 man team... play a few times a week unless I'm busy riding hte shee.. WOOT, mines the red one, my teammates is the gold. (if the picture works, if not I will post a link too) http://www.angelfire.com/alt/teamuk/shockers.jpg
  17. Studies show.... I like how they use that phrase.. I dont want to take a side, but being how I have done my fair share, I know the truth about what it DOES to you.. If some reporter wants to say it does a bunch of things, personally i think they should either take a poll by ONLY users... or use it themselves. If they gather information from people that have never done the drug, but only studied what it "should" do, they cant get an accurate reading. Yes of course they are not bad for you, and maybe pot does cause cancer or build up tar faster.. But pot is not an addicting substance, so unless someone is a pot ADDICT, that uses it all the time, like makes it a part of life like tabacco smokers do, I just dont see how you can have withdrawl. Who cares though, trying to scare someone isnt the best way to get them not to do anything, because peer pressure is FAR more convincing then reading an article about how drugs are bad. So take your sides if you will, its another act of freedom of speech, and this reporter or whoever, doesnt have all true facts...which makes them not a very good person to be writing this.
  18. Hey, someone heard this on the radio, and asked me if i could "solve" it...kinda boggles my mind, its a riddle... 75s ---> 23 & ---> 96 96 (w) ---> x145 Thats it... ya, now if anyone has ANY ideas, fill me in...cause its been bugging me. Most likely you will look at it, and ask me what s stands for... or what your trying to find, or what w or x represents.. but i have no idea... I just looked at what they wrote down, and could probably help alot more if I HEARD it...but oh well, maybe we can figure it out.
  19. All that typing for nothing.. Oh well, shee's fixed.. Good work
  20. I have some silver rims but I want to keep them unless you have some other rims and some $$. I've got gold ones for rear... They are perfect, just gold.. How much?
  21. This year I had a few down times.. But its an 87..what do you expect with the highly modified stuff! Now that she is on a fresh bore, the TORS are gone, and everything else is fresh.. Shouldnt be down anymore unless I start having problems with my tranny... *knock on wood*
  22. I'm pretty sure I'm late.. BUT, its better late then never! HAPPY B-DAY WALT!!!
  23. got any silver rims in good condition that will either fit 22x11x9 rears, or stock fronts? (cant remember size..)
  24. 1) You have spark. 2) If you have made sure the pipes are clear, you have exhaust. 3) AIR - Make sure its getting air, take the filter off while your trying to start. 4) GAS - This is MORE then likely your problem... Usually with carbs, if they are clogged, dirty, have water in them, anything other then nice clean carbs with good flow of gasoline, they will cause you problems. SOLUTION I would remove both carbs, and take them apart.. DO NOT clean with a moist rag, DO NOT get water in them... If you have an air compressor, use that, and some paper towels or other dry rag to clean them. When cleaning, make sure you clear out the main jet completly. I usually either blow through every hole there is, or just make sure I can see through the main. I take my air compressor and just blow air through the gas connection, and the main, and then take the bottom off the carbs and blow pretty much every area to dry it out... Now, whipe them all out, making sure the needle is spotless.. If you get any dirt on the needle in this process, you will notice rapid loss of fuel via the hoses running from the carbs. You can clean the main better if you remove it, so I would take a wrench and unscrew that, whipe out the washer that it sits on, and make sure you can see through the main. Assemble the carbs, I would do them 1 at a time so no parts get mixed... After reassembly, push your thumb throttle in (or twist) to make sure the slides move freely, and make sure they come down all the way so there is very little if any gap at the bottom. DONT use any quick start fluid.. I dont know if you tried that or not, but its not good for it, so dont. Make sure all of your connections are good, and make sure there is gas flowing into the carbs. I would unhook the hoses from each carb and turn the gas on and off real quick to ensure it is flowing to each carb properly. Once this is done, make sure your choke tube is on there, and be sure your carb tops are screwed on tight. After this is done, give her a go.. If you do all of that you should be golden. If not, we can further our investigation..
  25. I have an open trailer... I will just probably get a chain and lock it to the trailer, lock the trailer to hitch.. lock the hitch to the car... take the key... that kickstarter idea is pretty good! unfortunatly if I bought the shee and did all the stuff I couldnt afford the nice trailer.. so I have the "dirt hauler" Oh well, I CANT WAIT!
