  1. wondering if anyone has an aftermarket intake or a carb for a ford 460. pm me if you do. thanks
  2. i just made one from copper tubing. i had it laying around=free. dont use pcv. it melts. lol
  3. i personally like it much mroe than the full cut fenders. i like my fenders whole, but that deff looks cool too
  4. i think its intresting to see how childish some people become when provoked a lil. i agree with the before statement that i hope noone loses sleep over this. that site is lame...thats as bad as the one i made years ago for my truck, and im really bad with computers...and all he did is steal pics from the net...real cool. at least use pictures from your own expereince. and im not arrogant enough to say that banshees are the greatest quad ever. i will defend them, but we all know they had flaws... for the fact that they couldnt update them in a 20 year run...sounds kinda dumb if you ask me. yes it is a good quad....but there is a few things that could have been fixed. i wish the forum was still up, becasue i would have loved to read it. o well, mabye sum day....
  5. i guess im halfway differnt than you guys. mine has plenty of power for what i want and it handles ok. im not saying i wouldnt like to do more, but the bike is me now(my style). so im happy. when sumthing breaks, of course i'll upgrade instead of just replacing it. but i got to say, im finally happy with mine and dont plan on spending money in upgrades anymore......call me werid
  6. usually bad ones will spin and the good ones wont. in any case. i have always used an impact on them. if you just burp it up into place, teh sudden start and stops will make the nut go on without the balljoint itself spinning. otherwise if you dont have a impact, try to pry down on the joint some how from the top side. if you can force the balljoint into the knuckle with force, the force will keep it from spinning while u tghten the nut. i hope that makes sense. to take them off if they ever spin, just use vise grips right on teh rubber part. under the rubber is the acutal joint, and if you clamp there, you can usually break them loose pretty easy. however.......you will ususlaly ruin the boot. hence why i only do this if im replaceing the ball joint. or at least gunna install a new boot. best of luck, hope that helps
  7. I say go for it...what can it hurt but a few bucks from buying sum stockers and sum time. i think making your own stuff is better than buying it..i have been told several times over the years, my ideas wouldnt work. sum did, sum dint. who cares....I do it to have fun and be different i suppose these guys tht say no would prolly say no to me cutting 2 inches out of my swingarm my self rather than buyin a new shock and swinger sumone else made. i say as long as you reinforce it, or better yet...make a new length tube, it should be good as any arm you could buy anyways.......i guess. best of luck. let us know what you do
  8. i have the same problem. i was thinking som rtv on the gasket for the stator. then some dielectical greese for the spark plugs and coil wires. im not sure if it will work, but it sounds like a good start to me. let me know if u get ur figured out b4 i do.lol
  9. THE issue is the boost bottle. it did the same thing to me and many other guys on here. the bottle weighs to much or is just to big and causes the boots to work to much until they rip. toss that piece of shit in the trash and get a stock tube. i just made one out of sum copper tubing from plumbing that i had laying around. dont try pvc....it just gets eaten by the gas...lol. boost bottles are nothing more than a headace. tehy add nothing to power or antyhing. just run intakes. period! it did make mine run goofy on one cylinder. after that, it ran great. ur bike does sound a bit low on psi...how old is the motor? mabye you could skate by with just sum new rings for another season or two, before you have to rebuild. i know my dads is a 98 and he threw a new set of rings in last year. still running the stock OE pistons 10 years later...he gets bout a good 15 tanks thru every year, so not alot, but it does get ridden. write back when you find the cure for others to knwo as well.....
  10. i would check the air screw to make sure it is around 1.5 turns out and see what clip your needle jet is on. how bout, are the carbs even clean? how do the plugs look?-is it possible ur running to rich and it doesnt run good with low spark, but in higher rpms it has enough spark to get thru the rich jetting? just some thoughts? choke on? choke tube in the right place? either of the carbs leaking?-as float stuck those are all of my ideas...hope it helps
  11. i personally enjoyed my turftamers on hard pack. i have the square style bandits up front, and that really helped me with cornering as comapred to the round style front tires. the only other tires i have run are the bandit rear-not impressed at all, the spin way to much and the stock tires-spin way to much but slide well its not much info, but hope it helps
  12. I Would imagine they would be ok. the coolant would just thin out the mixture. even so, coolant has lubricants in it. unless you were drag racing or getting extreme, i wouldnt really worry bout the bearings with that short of a time span and witht the trans being full of lube to begin with. may want to wait for other's opinions, but i dont see it as a threat, unless ur bike is real serious
  13. i had the old fox trakcer boots, but they wore out after bout 8 years. now i have alpine tech 6. they are too big, but they were free, so i dont bitch. pants would be shift recon with a mataching jersey for trails. dunes i dont wear a shirt to wrk on my tan. lol helmet is axo and goggles are oakley i've got a few other setups, but that is my main one no gloves for me until winter comes, i hate wearing gloves personally
  14. look at that.....a zilla guy backs my opinion...lol. does that mean im actually right for once? i should write this day down
  15. i would say providing the riders are equal. the race should be close....i know you should be able to beat every stock 450 out there. the bolt on modded ones will give u a good run, anything more than a few bolt ons will beat ya. dirbikes....i guess it comes down to traction. you got way more grip than they do and if you can race them sumwhere soft, you will have a big advatage. no matter what, i would say your rear tires are your biggest concern. if you can afford it, that would be next on my list to replace. i could never get traction with my stockers even on pavement, specailly not off orad nad racing. but...it doesnt sound as though your serious bout just racing....so i guess just get out there and have fun. p.s. the best way i found to beat sumone is to ride with them, and pick up on thier good moves. learn how they ride. not only to better your ride, but to learn where you are better than them. if they cant do whoops or sumthing...pick a place like that to race.....its all fair in my book. your just using ur brain to ur advantage...lol have fun!
  16. i do agree. som DNR are punk ass ppl who think they are on a power trip. i have seen it many times over teh years, and assumed it was becasue of my young age. though i do see a common trend that the annyoning ones are always young or new to the job. the older seasoned ppl, never seem to give me much of a problem. lil things here and there, i know where my fault. but could have been a lil easier on it. i personally have never had a ticket from DNR. so thats good as to the cops, for the most part i defend them cuz they do ahve a shity job to deal with so many bad ppl every day. its gotta be hard. i ave only been pulled over 3 times. all my fault. no doubt bout it! teh first time the guy let me off, cuz my mother just happen to see what happened, and she came running up rippin me a new asshole. the cop said he coulndt compete, so he left. teh second one....she was cool. i was late for curfew and she just asked me to slow down. saw her several times again,a dn she never pulled me over again. teh third...i rolled slowly thru a stop sign at 3 am. the guy was a real dick. i know i was wrong. no dount. i accpet the ticket-totaly fair. but the guy was a real jerk. i think he saw my college name on the back of truck and just assumed i was a punk ass kid. dint say anthing, other than here's your ticket. my first time gettinone, so i asked who do i call and how to i handle it...he just said read it and walked away...wtf? all i wanted was some help on how to take care of my mistake.....dang...jerk. eh fourth cop....was i think profiling me... i was in a bad neighborhood with my tinted windows up. he pulled me over late at night. he was all stern and stuff, until she shown the light on my face. by this point 3 other cop cars had shown up to surrond me. then he cahnged his voice, just said...did you know you have a light out? i said no.....he was like, ok. get that fixed and have a good nite....tehn all 4 cars turned off their spot lights and left.....me thinks they expected a drug dealer or to have a gun or sumthing...dang. that was profiling in reverse i think...lol just my stories......i defend most law enforcement. but sum are dicks every day...i honelty beleive that otehrs are just having a bad day, or just had enough bullshit for one day adn they wrongfully take it out on the next guy....i just try to keep that in mind when im dealing with them.....we all have bad days...
  17. I think most of this post is stupid on so many levels... how can you compare a zilla and a shee? they are so different. and, why compare quads that dont have the same modds. if you really wanna race, take 2 bone stock quads, as desinged, and race.....otherwise if ur gunna modd them. have the same guy do the same style work to each one. make it fair. having a full dr q bike vs a full on shee made by differnt ppl with totaly differnt style parts, doesnt compare much. thats like racing a honda civic vs a dually powerstroke....totally differnt animals. yeh they may do bout the same in the 1/4 mile...but they are not at all alike. i have seen a few fast zillas, and thats cool. i also have seen alot of them break....all quads that get ridden hard will break at sum point. simple fact! as to the zilla guys coming on our forum and eggin sum guys on...thats just dumb. as to the ignorant HQ members that think their shee is god.....shut up. im sure mine could spank urs if i dumped a shit load of money into it too...the point is...each person has their own style and will make thier quad thier own. so why do you have to knock it? would it be cool if ever banshee out there was built exactly like urs by the exact same person? NO! thats wat makes it fun to race and ride with freinds...we all have our own riding terrrain and style....so let it be. you dont see any guys in here braggin their mx or tt shee will kick a zillas ass in a drag race....but im sure it will on the track it was setup for. personally i find straight line racing fun for a bout 3 races.....then i like to jump, ride in the woods and everything else. so no, my quad is not the shit compared to 95% of you guys...but it does what i designed it to do, it runs good, and it starts...and i dont have much money into it. but like it was said......2 strokes are dissappearing.....so why not stick together and beat all these lame ass 4pokes? 2 strokes forever!
  18. i run my paddle masters in teh snow when it gets much beyond like 5 or 6 inches here. but the other guys is right. much past a foot or foot and a half os snow, and there just isnt enough ground clearance. iw ould say get a cheap sled as well. and try to keep the shee for the summer months. but i doubt a shee will do anything in the winter up thre. but idk, i havent been there yet, but it is on my life's TO DO list.
  19. i'll be up at my place, right by the buggy rentals...prolly only sunday and modnay though cuz i think i will spend friday and sat working on my big truck in GR, trying to finsih her up
  20. A TRICK I USE AT WORK....OPEN TEH BLEEDERS AND WALK AWAY FOR ABOUT AN HR , OR OVER NITE ON STUBBORN ONES. TEHY WILL EVENTUALLY BLEED BY GRAVITY. YEH, YOU USE A BIT MROE FLUID, BUT IT USUALLY WORKS QUITE WELL FOR ME. THEN JUST TOP IT BACK OFF.
  21. i ran a moose when my stock craped out. it lasted bout years for me. just bout 2 months ago, i went against everyone here and bought a ricky. no complaints yet. it even fit better than the moose did. came with timing plate and all for alot less that the 250 i paid a few years ago for a high output that never did nay good for me. i guess i dont really go either way to much..just wanted to fyi ya that my moose failed as well....
  22. i dont see why not. i havent done it. but if you just added a larger tube over where you cut the smaller stuff, adn you can weld good. I personally would try it if i had a spare set of aarms. but i will try alot of things if they just cost me time and not so much money. i like to tinker nad think outside the box....but thats me. if you do do it, make sure and report bakc, i would be curious to hear how it went and look at some pics
  23. i would take the add on 2" out of it, like fred was saying. that thing sits so soft right now. adn we tried it with the r6 shock. it was better but still super low. what bout just running the stock swinger till you can get a works that is set up for you and the +6? just a thought..... :ermm:
  24. mine rub when the suspension is in full droop only with my paddles. my turf tamers dont hit...but its only on one side as well...cuz my frame is tweaked. also, they are stock a/c nerfs for a 250r, so they are a bit big anayways. but they were free and only took a lil mod to make them work. i always just thought it was my quad with a -2 and non-banshee nerfs.....hmmmm..... idk bout banshee nerfs, but mine hit enough that after bout 2 years it stressed the welds enough and broke the one mount off.....once again, it was slightly modded.... hope that helps, but i doubt it.lol
