  2. brake cleaner carb cleaner heat gun. be careful with each, to much and they will ruin the plastics....but that is what i used to get my oem shit off
  3. HOW DOES THAT THING HANDLE AT THE HIGHER SPEEDS ON TEH ROAD? SPECIALLY WITH THOSE DUMBO EARS FOR FRONT FENDERS. I AM CURIOUS, B/C MINE IS GEARED LOW AND TOPS OUT AT ABOUT 70MPH WHEN IM CRUISING THE ROADS AROUND HERE. THE FRONT FENDERS SEEMED TO CATCH ALOT OF AIR AND MAKE THE FRONT END LIGHT, SO I HACKED EM OFF. SEEMS TO HANDLE BETTER IMO..
  4. from viewing your long sig, it says you have wheel spacers all around. i personally took mine off right when i got it because i heard horror stories of the studs breaking off becasue of the added stress further out then designed. i dont know if this is true, becasue i have never run them. but it is something to think about. mabye someone esle can jump in with some life experience on wheel spacers......?
  5. basically i bought my shee a few years back and all it had was a boost bottle, besides that it was stock. now i have ported cylinder(used, i dont know what kind of porting), a shaved head, +4 timing plate, clamp on k/ns. fmf fatties and turbine cores as well as a set of boyesn reeds. all in all, i have never changed jetting through all of this, it runs fine, the plugs look good everytime i check them. it smokes very little, but you can see it. i am stock sea level should i waste the time to change jetting? or should i leave it how it is since it runs just fine?

  7. MABYE THE SEAL HAS BEEN DEFORMED AND DOESNT SEAL CORRENTLY. AMBYE SUMTHING GOT IN THERE WHILE YOU WERE INSTALLING IT AND NOW IT IS LEAKING? ARE THE BOLTS TORQUED CORRECTLY? I GUESS I WOULD PULL THE CASE BACK OFF AND DO A VISUAL INSPECTION OF THE GASKET, AND SEALING SURFACE. AMKE SURE BOTH SURFACES ARE CLEAN AND SMOOTH, MABYE THAT IS YOUR ISSUE. JUST SOME IDEAS...

I IHAVE CERTAINLY NEVER HEARD OF THAT, I GUESS I WOULD TRY PULLING THE SIDECASE COVER OFF AND SEE IF IT IS DRILLED THROUGH ALL THE WAY WHICH WOULD ALLOW THE OIL(IM ASSUMING) TO BE COMING OUT OF THOSE HOLES. THIS SHOUDL NOT HAPPEN IN MY OPINION. SOUNDS LIKE MABYE IT HAS A BAD CASE COVER, POSSIBLY FROM THE PREVIOUS OWNER DOING ALL THE WORK? IDK. BUT I WOULD CERTAINLY PULL IT OFF AND LOOK IT OVER. POST WHAT YOU FIND OUT OF CURIOSITY PLEASE.
  9. I WOULD AGREE WITH JBOOKER. ONE OTHER THING TO CHECK MIGHT BE COMPRESSION. MINE WOUDL START COLD, BUT NEVER HOT, IT WAS JUST LOW ENOUGH, TAHT ONCE IT COOLED DOWN AND RESEALED, I COUDL START IT. KINDA A LONG SHOT, BUT IF THE CARBS DONT FIX IT, I MIGHT RUN A QUICK COMPRESSION CHECK
  10. WITH MINE, ALL I REALLY DO IS A ONCE OVER ALL OF THE BOLTS, CARBS, CABLES, CHAIN AND AIR FITLER EVERY TIME I RIDE. AS TO ACTUAL MAINTANCE, I INSTALL NEW PLUGS EVERY YEAR, WHEATHER IT NEEDS THEM OR NOT. I CLEAN THE CARBS, CLEAN THE AIR FITLER EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS, AND CHANGE THE CRANKCASE OIL, AS WELL AS REPLACE THE COOLANT EVERY YEAR. I ALSO LUBE AND ADJUST THE CHAIN EVERY 6 MONTHS OR SO. OUTSIDE OF THAT, I JUST RIDE IT TILL SOMETHING BREAKS. LOL. THE BIGGEST THING I FIND IS TO KEEP CHECKING FOR LOOSENING BOLTS. ALL THAT VIBRATION FROM RIDING AND FROM THE ENGINE MAKES EVERYTHING COME APART AT SOME TIME. AS THINGS LOOSEN, I INSTALL THREADLOCKER AND RETORQUE. THAT SEEMS TO BE MY BIGGEST ISSUE.
  11. I HAD THIS SAME ISSUE. AFTER WEEKS OF SEARHING, I FOUND THAT THE INTAKE BOOT HAD A VERY SMALL TEAR IN IT(CARB TO CYLINDER). APPRATENLY IT WAS ENOUGH OF A VACCUM LEAK OR SUMTHING TO MAKE IT RUN, BUT NOT GOOD. IDK, WORTH A LOOK..I KNOW I OVERLOOKED IT FOR WEEKS, AS WELL AS THE DEALERSHIP THAT STOLE MY MONEY TO "FIX" IT
  12. what is so great about these? are these steels and carbon fiber? cuz if thats all it is you can buy them from rocky mountain for less with steel and carbon fiber....just curious, thats all....

  14. putting it in a truck seems to work well, alothough its totally cheating and i have no idea why they let it happen. as to making your own..tried that, worked once, but never after that. it does have to say us forestry approved. i ahve tried several ways to save money, but in the long run it was cheaper and easier to just buy the right ones up front. i tried the add on sparkys too, and they lasted bout 2 seasons, b4 they started to fall off, and added to much weight to the stock silencers and messed them up too. i know the right way is expensive, but i wasted so much more time and money trying other things. i hope you can learn from my mistakes.
  15. i have used the 20x10x8 turf tamers for years. they seem wot work well for me in everything, but the lugs dont clean out so well in mud. but i run them in the dunes, clay, grass, loose dirt. i used to play at gravel pits and woudl hillclimb there without any problems. the stock rear tires i couldnt even get to hook up on dry pavement. i threw those away the same day i brought my shee home!
  16. i went twist throttle about 10 years ago and have never looked back. i love it in the whoops, its a natural move up and down, and you give it gas at the perfect time. i would never go back. its actually the bigget reason why i dont ride other peoples quads when mine is broke. thumb just ruins riding for me. it also keeps alot of people from riding my quad, which is just fine with me.
  17. MY CLUTCH IS SLIPPING. I DONT MAKE CARZY POWER, ONLY RACE FOR FUN. ITS STILL ON THE ORGINAL CLUTCH, 11 YEARS LATER. WHAT BRAND OR STYLE DO YOU GUYS RECCOMEND? IM NOT GUNNA SPEND A SHIT LOAD ON A CLUTCH, BUT DONT WANNA AHVE TO REPLACE IT IN 6 MONTHS AGAIN EITHER. ANY IDEAS?
  18. well, i just got back from up there. with all of the rain, there was puddles and lakes everywhere. really cut down on riding room. the only place to really race was the valley that is on your way from tet hill to the beach., and that was some pretty flat racing. so, i guess next weekend we will see how it is, hopefully after some of the water dries up.
  19. i know that. i have been going up there for way to many years now. spent way to many hours in line. hence why i ususally take my truck up on the weekends. i get pissed waiting to ride my quad. plus im up there so dam much, that not riding on a sat or a hoilday weekend dont really matter. i just go up to watch the idiots. and actually ride on sunday when everyone leaves. or the off season, when no shitting....there is like 3 ppl up there besides me. those days are when i wanna be there. mabye i've just gotten old and tired of all the lines and waiting just to go riding. idk. but to each his own. as long as we all have fun there and keep the tree huggers away from closing it down...thats all that really matters! :cool:

  24. well, where are you located? im in detroit and have a long drive over there if thats on the way? either of the weekends in july work for me as well. i know i could bring prolly 3 other ppl as well. only the girl has a shee, but riding buddys are buddys(at least all of them have 2strokes). im also headin up this weekend if anyone else is. and prolly will be up the last weekend in june, so i'll try to catch the few that said they will be up that weekend
  25. i have ridden with my fmf fatties and stock silencers up there when my fmfs fell off. it soudns weird and doesnt run as strong, but it beats all stock exhaust! witht the price of sparkies now-a-days. you might as well just buy new turbine cores...IMO
