reassembled the shee and took it for a ride. its MUCH MUCH better now. trothle response is better it seems to NEVER rev out and keeps pulling. havent heared it bog yet up in the high rpms however when comming out of a corner and falling just below the powerband (off the pipe). It takes some time before it will get ON the pipe again. (no bogging or anything it just doesnt pull) Plug chop to come, sattisfied at the moment.. if it holds up saturday while doing some trails i'll be happy. Any comments about the low(er) power corner exiting? besides shifting back a gear

the stock limited ed raptor shocks from my riding mate do NOT fit my 2003 banshee. they are to long.

toomey t5 boyesen reeds jetkit (needle) currently 340 and upping to 360 main +4 timing K&N 340 was lean .. i hope 360 will do the trick. i am at 0 sea level.

Hmm crappy i'll have to order the pilots then. Knowing the stealership it will take ages i cleaned the carbs real good yesterday and took the shee apart. (need to do some electrical work to) Since i wont have pilots anytime soon I'll up the needle 1 position and mains 360 for tonight. +reassembly and testing and adjusting air screw. Again more to come. I hope i'm close with the jetting

While we are on this topic: My banshee shocks are smaller then the raptor shocks. The yamaha site lists both atv's with 9.1" shocks. any possibility i have blaster shocks? also 9.1" is 23CM my shocks measure 36CM ? maybe 9.1" is shock travel?

Going to rejet it now. Thanks for the input so far. I'll get back to you guys with updates. How about the pilot jets? Are those special? Or will any mikuni pilot fit? Thanks.

Some time ago there was a complete topic about carbs. and i can remember that it said. The larger your carb is the bigger youre venturi is. (ofcourse) this causes the air to go slower trough your carbs. This had some bad effects. but i cant remember it all that well and i cant find the topic anymore. but it might have been on the rd350 forums the turnout of the article was to only go bigger on your carbs when youre engine really needs it.

Hey guys, I discussed this in the bansheehq webchat aswell. I received a K&N filter last week with powerlid and precharger. My old setup was stock airfilter with no airboxlid using 340 mains. This ran great/good. The K&N filters came with 340 mains aswell but since i am already using 340 mains i started a search on what needs to go in now. The K&N manual recommends: (now this is stupid) Left carb: main jet up 5 steps no change to needle. right carb: main jet up 8 steps raise the needle one position. Why this unequal jetting? i ran the knn filter this weekend with my stock airbox lid on to prevent extreem leanout. the performance was terrible. The shee bogged from time to time, if i reved it up and would dump the clutch it would sometimes deliver no power whatsoever. After the ride i did a WOT test and the plugs didnt show any color. that would mean lean! On the banshee hq i see lots of people with k&N filter and pipes running 300 mains. The banshee jetting faq recommends: Add K&N air filter:4-6 sizes larger on the mains, adjust airscrews, add one size on pilots if necessary. what i'd like to try is this setup: Pilot jet 27.5 (up from 25) needle 1 position richer main going to 360. I heared the pilot jets are made for banshees specific? so that would mean i cant go to a local mikuni carb dealer and get the pilots? And whats with that K&N recommended unequel jetting? Thanks guys!

updated 450 movies. These 450's are modified and have: -a port job and K&N airfilter and proper jetting - The white one has GYTR CARBON FIBER PIPE, - The Blue one has a YOSHI pipe and the new DYNATEK programmable ignition system. These things are fast!. but $$$$$ even alky banshees are going down here! http://www.eskimo.com/~daddog/videos/glamis2003/index.htm

Lo guys, I have a K&N powerlid and normal airfilter on the way, and id like to do some jet tests after i install the K&N stuff. Can i use cheap plugs for the jetting? What i am planning to do is: let the shee run idle for 10 minutes on a fresh pair of cheap spark plugs. and check the color. put in a fresh pair of cheap plugs again and cruise around at half trothle. check color put in fresh pair again and do a WOT test. check color. lots of plugs Thanks for any advice or comment. ill do a plug hack after my first real day of abuse.

They look alot like the pipes my mate has.. But we dont know the brand either We bought them as beeing fmf's but there is no name on the pipes.. i do know the pipes are REALLY fast.. like you said. he outraces my t5's these pipes pull really strong from midrange to top end. the toomeys rev out slightly higher. but it takes long.

Thanks XTShee! much appreciated.

stock stator is around 75watts the ricky goes over 200watts. so YES thats a whole lot of improvement.

does anybody have pictures of a ported intake of ported transfer port? my untrained eye CANNOT find any spots that would need grinding.. only thing i could find in the intake port would be that large piece of unsharpend metal in the middle of the intake. everything else looks pretty nice to me! even my jugs are pretty much lined up with the port work. pics would be appreciated!

Great info boon! i have that problem with my old stator + pickup coil assembly.. especially when it warms up!
