The Low Down On Port And Polishing
Nighty replied to sshepherd03's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Yeah that would be pretty much allrite for someone interrested in starting up his own porting/tuning company. If you just want to know a bit more about 2 strokes and find some additional power where you want it, then read over macdizzies site a few times. i have some free tools for calculation of 2 stroke stuff like bmep, port window time all the basic stuff to become a good amateur porter knowing what you are doing and where you want to go. -
Heared about the problem aswell, havent seen it yet though. must be expensive.. or will this be yamaha factory garantee?

Unbelievable, i'm typing this with one hand and it takes ages! What happend? well, one of the riding mates decided to checkout a new place to ride, so i was folowing him and his raptor... going slow. i was putting around in 6th gear going around 35 mph. we get to a road crossing and turn left, The road was long with no other crossings for 3 miles, the raptor guy is in front with a lead of 150-175 feet. i admire the view left and behind me and the next thing i do is flying trough the air making corkscrews. Landed on my back and shoulder the banshee flipped on into the grass.. luckly... After getting up it turned out the raptor guy wanted to turn so slowed down and parked in the grass next to the road. with his front left wheel on the asphalt (turning motion) i was looking back for no more then 2 seconds .. while lookin i steered to the right (seems to happen when you look back, i didnt intend to go that far right) and smashed/ launched right over his front wheel.. I never saw him slow down. damage on the banshee seems 0 only the rear grab bar has minor asphalt marks as it hit the ground while spinning trough the air. Thats the only part that hit the ground, i think it landed on its wheels again in the gras facing the other direction. oh and my handlebar is bent damage to the raptor is enormous. bent a-arms and rim so far. .. i think we should ban atv's.. they are dangerous picture will follow soon.

Well if all that stuff is as good as they say it is (those pulse pipes)... They use the toomey t5's to compare the pulse pipes with. According to them a T5 is less efficient in a tuned engine then on a stock engine.(aka developed for stock engine) as far as i know a T5 is one of the best pipes for (mildly) tuned engines. a T6 system is said to be less effective on a tuned engine. All this might change with strokers and bigbore banshees. To bad the dont have the dyno data up yet. This might be interresting for all the stroker 12 porters out here.

Complete stock pipes? or just the rear silencers? -
"The high center of gravity, vital for climbing over bumps and logs, makes ATVs prone to tipping" HIGH center?? they must be talking about a craptor... Theres nothing like a banshee on road. sure enough .. you have to know what you are doing.

I almost feel like an advertizer But Ricky deserves this. From time to time i see posts from people asking about new flywheels. Ricky has them, cheaper as the OEMS with stronger Magnets and awesome quality. I have dealt with him on a few occasions, i'm in europe so its always hard/scarry to get expensive goods out of US. You really cant go wrong with Ricky. On top of that which i didnt even know. He has axles, a-arms and lots more! I cant tell anything about the quality of those products but it all looks promissing, If i'll ever need new a-arms or an axle its comming from him definatly. Check out his site. its in my signature below. Might be cool to get him as a sponser for bansheehq, if he's willing to do that. We might be able to get a discount on his already competative prices.

Have fun. oh i forgot the add the loads of cop cars we outran... easy money .. well not always.. -

and the result is: ricky stator == error. stock seems o.k but was fucked up much earlier this year gonna use the stock as tempfix while i order a new flywheel somewhere.. the ricky stator CANNOT be shaved 3MM... the stock is shaved 4.75MM and here i was thinking to be on the save side..

The Low Down On Port And Polishing

racelogic.com, ebay or try here on the bansheehq. I'm looking for a used/cheap set aswell. If youre gonna do it yourself make sure you have the right tools .. the right tools cost more then a port job performed by a engine builder. On the transfers: I noticed the banshee piston does not uncover the transfers and exhaust port completely. a spacer plate would solve this nicely and give some more transfer time. .. still working out the new timings/changes for a spacer plate setup.. so far it has some advantages and disadvantages. -
The clamp on's flow LOADS of air. But i think the replacement k&n filter for in your airbox does really good aswell! And its better for muddy or rainy conditions.
-
Maybe somebody has a cylinder portmap? or use the race logic templates.
-
Hmm thanks. I'll find out today..

Any experience with ricky stator flywheels? I have mine off now its outside diameter is 12.9 cm If i would shave off 4.5MM the result would be 12 CM i think the size should become 12.30 CM. sooo basicly.. can the ricky flywheel be treated the same as stock flywheels? thanks.
