I know you can adjust the reeds, but the directions say that adjusting them for low tension decreases the lifespan of the reeds. Wow i started this topic months ago and its still going. V-force reeds rock!!

My friend has a very tricked out 250R with a 330 ESR powervalved engine. He said he like his banshee better for trail riding. I think i would also, i think the banshee is a great trail machine. I keep right up w/ or stay ahead of my buddies YFZ and smoke my other friend on his predator through the woods.

I dont know if you want it slower or faster but i can tell ya that they are geared very low stock. I put a taller front sprocket on my bros and it could pull it very good and it didnt rev out as much the thing ripped. Also they tend to throw chains and crack the stator cover, so make sure your chain is tight and your rollers are good. You may also want to invest in a case saver. This is a common problem because my bros did it and my friends did it like 4 times. Also make sure you go through the airbox real well. My friend had problems with his leaking shit into it because the plug came off and it was all a mess.

Does anyone else here think that manufacturers should come up with names for the quads?? Back in the day It was banshee, warrior, quadracer, quadzilla, tecate, etc. Nowadays its all numbers!!! You'd think Yamaha would come up with a cool name for the YFZ450 They did for the YFZ350, and Banshee is a lot catchier then YFZ350, you could talk to someone about a YFZ350 and they wouldnt have a clue but when you say banshee, they know exactly what your talkin about. Idk i guess im thinking toomuch

Currently its only 100 bucks more then the 2004 model but that could just be that its newer idk what the 04 costed brand new. Now all they need is a 450 engine and maybe they can start keeping up with Yamaha

Looks like Suzuki is improving the Z-this year with piggyback resevoir shocks, they look like the same ones as on the YFZ450.

I'd get her an other Blaster b4 a Warrior. Personnaly i think i'd get her a 400ex, they have so much low end power and are pretty fast. Plus you barely have to work on them because they are so reliable.

My friend wants to take the spark arestor out and all ready has the airbox lid off and jetted for that. Any of you guys take the spark arestors out of your YFZ450s? If so what jetting changes need to be made? thanks.

THe YFZ is just amazing, all you have to do is ride it on a nice twisty motocross track to know what its all about. It launches out of the hole, and corners very nicely and has so much torque that you come out of corners without even downshifting. Then when you jump it the landings are wicked smooth. My friend has one with a lot of suspension work done to it and a stock pipe with air box lid off. Every race so far hes come 3rd or 2nd out of the hole with a stock pipe!!! Except one race he came out and wheelied most of the holeshot. Oh yea and they are awesome to wheelie he can walk that thing for a mile if he had the space. Downside is that it has a weak stator or something like that and it doesnt charge real well so soemtimes the battery dies on it Lucky for him he lives on a big hill, but that wasnt fun trying to pull start him with my jeep last race. Electric start is pretty nice though.

I have a -2 swing arm and i have no complaints!! It corners so much better. Before i was having trouble cornering now ive been passing YFZs through the corners. I noticed also that is jumps a hell of a lot better. It doesnt tend to loft as much in the air and levels out better. Also it stiffens it up in the rear a little bit so it lands a lot nicer.

I'd say for overall performance get a 2 into 1 intake w/ a 35 mm carb. Thatll get you a lotta low end and still improve top end. Plus stock carbs suck because once they get worn out there is somethign on them that makes the damn throttle stick when they get wet. Plus its so easy to rejet with 1 carb Thats just my opinion though, if you dont care about low end then just get some dual 35 mm carbs.
