Before i ripped it apart and retarded the timing it did spit coolant. It did not spit coolant today, but yea i understand that about the coolant i just had water on hand. I just dont know how much of a cooling difference that whould make. Its hard to explain the sound but its kind of a almost like a exhuast leaking sound but not quite like that, i dont know i can explain it without being able to make the sound with my voice. Also whould to much oil in the gas cause overheating. I guess the next step is to install a temp gauge i will do a search on here and see what everyone else is doing, but if any of you have a quick suggestion i would be willing to hear it. What do banshees normally run at?

Ok i have a freshly rebuilt engine from last season, runs great when its cold but after about 15 mins on a hot day it seems like it overheats, sounds different but still has power. I replaced the water impeller with a pro design one to try to cure the problem. I also pulled the top end apart and everything still looks good. I cleaned the radiator it was pretty dirty, and drained all the coolant and put straight water back in. Also i have a ricky stator that was set at +4 i retarted that back down to 0. I guess the next step i will be taking is to install a temp gauge, but until this weekend does anybody have any other ideas. Im starting to think that this is just the way it is going to sound when it is hot. Oh also the plugs look great and it has a brand new coil and cdi box is three years old.

Im 853 ft above sea level run 93 octane, how much should i shave my stock head? And will it be noticible, make it heat up any faster, or any other downfalls.

I have a ricky stator adjustable timing plate and i forgot, do you line the timing with the casting mark (line) on the case or is it something else?

I saw it in dirtwheels and yamaha has discussed it, it is not set in stone but you can pretty much count on it. I couldnt find anything on dirtwheels website about it. But they did have photos on the cover and a story in the magazine.

i ride trails and i do get into fifth or 6th hear and there, the cap looks alright i might have to pressure test it, how do i tell if my pumps bad i took off the cover and the brass cover and it looks fine? i let it idle for awhile and it was deffinetly not runnin the same though it did not spit coolant out the cap. the water in the radiadtor gets hot so the pump must be pushing the coolant.

I know it has been talked about a million times, but i couldnt find a clear case for my answer. Ok so heres my situation, i have a brand new bottom and top end ( maybe 10 hours on it), a ricky stator with the timing advanced 4 degrees, b8es plugs that are tan and not fouled, and a pro flo clamp on air filter setup, mixing castor 927 at 32:1, my problem is after riding for 20 mins or so, she starts to overheat and will spit coolant from the radiotor cap, it doesnt run bad for say but its definetly not as fast and sounds different. Any help would be appreciatied. I did have a little miss problem which i traced down to a bad plug cap, and replaced both with to msd automotive caps, and that seemed to take care of that.

Damn youve waited how long? and they finally get ahold of you with this piss poor story. Im sure they can get you the money out of there pocket if they both have full time jobs, and he has the money to mod his banshee!

ok so you dont even have a car yet? i think you have to be 18 to even take a loan out cosigner or not, and second your only 16 drive a actual motor vehicle on the road for awhile, just so you learn the rules of the road. Also on a bike you have to watch out for everything and everyone, and i know at 16 you will be more then willing to go faster then you should.

well it wasnt even but 85 degrees tonight, it ran awesome for like 20 mins with the 210's in it and then started its normal back up again, oh and it spit coolant on the ground it idled high when i stopped, so i tapped on the bowls and when i tapped on the bowl on the kick side it idled back down, so i know one of my floats is stickin, but i just got pissed and put it away, im startin to think i better just pull the motor out and buy a gasket set, go through the whole motor, clean the air filter, check for problems and try again? any suggestions all help is welcome, i really dont wanna have to sell it and have to drop some cash in a new 450 i love banshees when there not actin up -

they are a very precise thing to be just drilling on without some sort of lathe or cnc machine, or is this a common practice? -

well the yamaha shop was out of jets at the moment, and they said i deffinetly need to rejet, but they said i could bring my old ones in and they could drill them out to size? sound leget? -

i have ran it with the box off and it didnt solve anything, besides i couldnt hear shit besides sucking air with that damn lid off, i have great spark and new plugs. The crossover tube is attached. -

After About 15 minutes of riding today it started doin it again, im startin to think it has less to do with the temp outside because it was about 80 maybe 85 not blistering hot. Please help, i dont wanna have to sell this damn thing. It rides perfect, fast, snappy, and screams at you until it starts to act up. I figure if its jetting wouldnt it start right after the bike warms up, or maybe constant?
