  1. Well, shit...happy birthday for yesterday!!!!!
  2. With those numbers, I totally agree. On the other hand, are you running a stock head or do you have an aftermarket head with smaller domes?
  3. Doing it today! I didn't have the time to check it yesterday but did lean her out 2 main sizes and oh man did it help, she was pretty rich I still have a full tank of 110 that I'm running in it now, I'm gonna check the compression on it this afternoon and I'll get back with you guys; something tells me by the feel of the kicker it doesn't seem any more than 170 but I could definitely be wrong, might be less LOL, each time I make the slightest adjustment on this beast it opens up a whole nother can of whoopin my ass, this shit is fast! Taking it to the track next weekend Andy @ GRR Thanks for all the help guys!!!
  4. LOL, I was thinking that this guy has GOT to have the biggest inventory of banshee parts known to man...it seems like any time someone needs something, Jeff has it...I'm working out a deal with him as we speak!
  5. Nope! I was a bit skeptical but went ahead and tried it out, worked awesome. If you've ever melted your pants to the pipe it'll get that off too. You guys must not be running them hard enough!! Do you ever ride your banshees for extended periods of time; like 3-4 solid hours or more? I'm wondering if that might have something to do with it...I'm thinking maybe the long periods of riding and staying hot is what turns them blue, I'm not sure though. My jetting was always spot on when I had my T5's and they blued like a champ My average ride time was 4-5 hours though before the pipes had a chance to cool down.
  6. It is VERY common and doesn't mean there is a problem. Mine blued up to about 6 inches from where it mounts to the cylinders. They blue due to the heat. I don't think I've ever seen a set of Toomeys not blue around the base of the pipe, it's really common, I wouldn't worry about it. Once the blue has set in, it's hard to completely remove it, if at all. I discovered that using an SOS pad and scrubbing it (will NOT scratch the chrome) , then following up with some chrome polish will remove a good bit of it, but after a couple rides it'll be right back. I just gave up and let is stay blue...lol
  7. I-Razors!!! I got mine mounted yesterday and they are a stout tire. I noticed that every 5th lug on the inside half of the tire is re-enforced, probably just to ensure you get some bite. I haven't ridden on them but my friend did when he mounted them, said they seemed to hook real good on straightaways but also allowed him to slide well. Besides that, they're a mean looking tire Since I don't have any other dirt tires worth a crap right now, I'm gonna put them on the banshee Saturday and take it to the dirt drags...I'll let you know how they hook.
  8. Ahh...ok, that makes sense. I must have just read that out of context. Thanks man LOL, you're always around when someone needs ya, I'm sending you a PM now.
  9. What do you mean?
  10. That's not a bad idea, I'll check with Andy and see what he thinks. It's definitely something I will try, I have a set of 21's, 20's, and the 18's that are in there. I figured I would let the track be my determining factor; I'll run it with the 18's first, then move to the 20's, and 21's as necessary. I have a feeling I'll be changing my setup quite a bit over the next few months trying to see what works best. I did notice that when I get to the very top of the powerband the power drops off dramatically, maybe it's because of those 18cc domes. I appreciate the advice, every little bit helps!!!!
  11. I'm not 100%, I was going to check the compression tomorrow when I lean out the jetting/change plugs. I'm pretty damn sure I'm in the 170 range, I'm running 18cc domes now. I was just curious if there is a method to find out exactly what octane to run, mainly to see if this 103 octane AV gas would be sufficient. LAST thing I wanna do is detonate! Thanks Tyler and thank you Brad!
  12. I know that once you start running high compression you need to run race gas, but my question is how do you know what octane will be enough? Is there a "standard" or anything stating if you run "x" amount of compression, you should run "x" octane gas? I found a hookup on some AV gas, it's supposed to be rated at 103 octane. The stuff I put in there for the first tankful was 110. I'm just curious how to find out what method you guys use to determine what octane is necessary for your application. Is there a formula or something for it? Thanks!!!
  13. Wow, there's some pretty good info in here, thanks everyone for the advice!!! lol, I'm about to go on a massive tire hunt now after reading everything, I know for sure I'm gonna pick up some Gnarlys and pro wedges, I'm thinking about getting a set of turf tamers too. I did find out the track was a dirt / clay mix and one of the guys I talked to said people run pro wedges a lot. I'm really hoping it doesn't rain this weekend, I'm dying to get out there just to run this bastard. The track I'm talking about is Springhill, it's a 300' dirt drag strip about 25 miles south of Collierville, TN; it's either right in or around Ashland, MS. I haven't been there yet but I hear if you get on highway 72 and head south (from where I am) you can't miss it. Here's the site for the track www.springhilltrack.com Thanks again for all the help!!!!!!
  14. From what I've been told, running no crossover tube increases throttle response (it's not a huge difference) but also requires you to have your bike perfectly in tune. Without the crossover tube, there is nothing to "equalize" the mixture going into the engine. You can get some billet intakes from Grand River Racing, those are where mine came from and they fit great with the v-force reeds...no crossover tube though I believe Boss racing makes a billet intake that has a crossover tube "built-in" so it elminates having the crossover tube hovering over your intakes, and it looks like there is no crossover tube at all but gives you the benefits of having one.
  15. What kind of air filter setup are you running? Also, what size carbs do you have? If you know who did the porting they could be of tremendous help to you in getting your banshee dialed in...main reason I say that is the porter knows what his setup likes best, and he can tell you about where you should be (if not there already) and what kind of power to expect at certain RPM ranges.
  16. Could possibly be your clutch not completely grabbing...if all you do is drag your bike, I would start looking into a lockout clutch or one of the clutch packs that FAST racing sells.
  17. Page cannot be displayed
  18. That's actually what I planned on buying first... I can imagine so...I'll probably end up grabbing 2 sets of good dirt tires and bring my paddles too just to see what hooks best. The track I'm going to gives us two hours time to test and tune before the actual racing starts. There's supposed to be some pretty badass banshees that run there, I'm anxious to get out and see what kind of numbers this engine can lay down. Thanks for the help guys!
  19. LMAO, you say that now but had you seen it, you'd think otherwise. I had it setup like a car stereo shop, it's not like it was just a battery and head unit sitting there with a bunch of wires running all over to the different speakers. When you have an older brother that had all this "extra" equipment laying around, why go out and spend hundreds on a system you could build for damn near nothing? I've been building subwoofer enclosures for people since I was 12, I had to have a way to advertise my work considering I didn't have a car!!
  20. Thanks! One more dumb question....when they say it's a cut track, is that the same as being disked? LOL, remember I said I'm new to all this and am not familiar with the terminology... Thanks for the help!
  21. Hey, thanks for the reply! I'm new to the drag scene and am trying to learn as much as I can before I go out to the strip. I know the track is a dirt/clay mix, that means it'll be pretty hard, right?
  22. LOL, I did the same thing when I was 14. I had a car battery powering a head unit, amps, component speakers, two 12's and a 15" sub. It was much easier for me to get my hands on car stereos opposed to home stereos at that time. Glad I'm not the only one who did that
  23. Just curious if anyone has tried running paddles on dirt for dragging? If so, how did they do? Got a possible race this weekend at a 300' dirt drag strip and I have a choice (right now) between I-razors and paddles. Haven't had a chance to get some good tires to drag with and was seeing which of the two options would be better for the time being... Thanks!
