  1. nobody can tell you. when porting is involved it can totally change the dynamics of the motor. depends on how much porting, what kind, how they did it, etc. start with 340 and see where your at. coolhead isn't going to affect much.
  2. take it on up to +7.... getting it jetted right on will yield best results for what you have. ever think about backing the sprocket back down to a 15 for a little lower gearing? How are you getting your compression, a Coolhead or what? Get some smaller domes if you have an aftermarket head.
  3. Hell, I don't wanna run 180 psi anyways... yea, there's A LOT more to it than psi. I'm looking for maybe 155 with a lot of timing advance..... I already have 2 machines that require 110 and no less, and I don't want to have to separate out the 110 that requires mixing, not too mention how much more fuel it takes over my thumpers.
  4. I don't really have a good answer but I ran mine at +7 for awhile with the stock head then went to a Coolhead. I liked it at +7 quite a bit, but you shouldn't have trouble at +5. Also, that Amsoil octane boost isn't much of an octane boost... and with pump fuel, it's not going to do much for ya. Linked below is THE best octane boost, and it's a true octane booster. With 1 quart, you can turn 4 gallons of pump (92 or 93) into 100 octane. A quart costs $20 and when I bought race the other day it was $7.25, so it's cheaper than buying true race gas anyways. 5. what about a hi-temp powdercoat... think they'd get too hot for that?
  6. so, how much you want for them? Pm me if you'd like.
  7. oh yea, i'll get all that fixed.
  8. this is similar to what i remember....
  9. big FALSE, unless you live in on Mount Mckinley. Fatties, T5's, pipes of that sort at sea level should be running anywhere from 290 to 310, at a couple thousand foot, maybe 270 to 290..... you buddies must think it's running good but if they took the time to rejet they'd 1) feel a new found power and 2) probably keep from bombing the motor....
  10. what were you all milling off.... trying to remember.... 30 thousandths?
  11. yea, mid to top. i'll get it ported this summer some time.
  12. Okay, I'm a big single carb fan. However, I'm toying with the idea of going with a pair of 28s as I have 2 thumpers and want to do the best for a stock bore / stroke banshee. I like the 28mm setup a lot for that. I'm also not an airbox fan, it has to go. So with that, should I just keep the carbs on the stock intakes or upgrade intakes? Also, keeping in mind it's been awhile for me, I'm trying to remember reed setups. I'm going to end up with some VForce for sure but am going to take it super slow first (deal I made with wifey to get it), so should I just upgrade to some Boyesens or what was that other company that makes good reeds for the stock cage.... i could open up the cage a little as well. I'm probably going to get the PT Hi Rev pipes, if not Fatties, so it'll be that and the carbs for now, and that's it. Then I'll start working on compression.
  13. so are you saying they'll rust up kinda quick without the chroming?
  14. Probably going to just pick up a new set of PT Hi's even though it hurts giving money top dollar for chit..... they want so much cash for them new, i was toying with the idea of the std. finish but have never had a set. how does this wear, are they rust buckets? I really don't care about the aesthetics but don't want them rusting in 3 months from hitting a little damp dirt here and there.
  15. Thanks Brian, I'm watching closely, and I'd probably be interested in a 'core - ready to go' unit. In fact, I'll take dibs on first full a-arm order and I'll probably pair them with a set of non-rezzie elkas or something.
  16. if your going to leave it stock, like stock pipes, then go one tooth smaller on your front sprocket, that'll gear it down some and help you out.
  17. Anyone have any Paul Turners for sale? Let me know.
  18. that's an assumption, i've seen where some people do mods and overlook that nice little benefit and grenade a motor.
  19. if you look around right, you can find great buys on used stuff in great shape. IMO, FMF Fatties are an underrated pipe. They're a good all-around pipe that performs great with mods later on and you can usually pick them up for not a lot of dough. I had a set of over 2 years and they never rusted on me. Pipes first then compression, in that order. You can mill your head to gain compression and it won't cost much for that.
  20. Just got a step closer to being the owner of an 06 bansh. It's like an old friend comin home.
  21. let me know if these don't go through with the previous poster. i'm interested.
  22. try bigger pilot. when you open the throttle up to keep it going, your opening the main jet circuit some to let fuel through. so, either bigger pilot or clogged pilot.
  23. huh, maybe i'm remembering this wrong as well but i remember the pt mids on my bike pulling stronger off idle but falling off much flatter than the pro circuits on top. maybe it was my porting or something, who knows.... i got rid of them tho due to the lack of top end my bike had, something about a 2 stroke and needing it to rev out.
  24. cool. i always used the 170 mark as my point to start octaning it up but it's been awhile so was just double checking. I remember always running 7 degrees adv. on mine and it seemed like it was quite a bit more responsive but it's all vague in my head right now.
  25. hmmm, how has it held up? I'll probably pass for now, don't even have the quad yet but hopefully pretty soon, I'll be ready to start dropping the green on some goods.
