  1. you need to jet it properly, not while doing donuts. you need to do some WOT plug runs in 5th or 6th gear. Do some searching on plug chop or plug check and follow the procedures on how to test and read the plug. It sounds to me like it's bogging out a little from a lean condition but nobody here can tell you for sure and it's really hard when we don't know what your plug looks like.
  2. what compression you should actually have depends on the domes in the coolhead. stock is roughly 120 - 125, depending on location.
  3. be sure to unplug ALL the plugs...
  4. try the 300s and make sure your needles are on the 4th clip. what is your elevation? also, scrap the boost bottle, it's pointless and gets in the way. put your crossover tube back on.
  5. no. its a butthole cleaner and they put one there because the yamaha guys are generally so full of shit that they figured it'd be helpful to have one there......
  6. the pilot jet is your call. is it starting fine or is it taking a few extra kicks? If its starting fine, then no worries.
  7. you probably need to go up on the mains as 270s are what came with the pipe and they are intended for a stock bike with an airbox. your running k&N pods which'll need more fuel so if you stay with the pods, I'd say go to a 300 and see how it performs there, if you go to the stock airbox, then try a 290. Also, I'll add that very rarely do the "supplied" jets work perfectly, they're a "guesstimate" for trial purposes mostly. With fatties and mods similar, my bike used a 310 with an airbox. So, I'd try a 290 or 300 and see how it reacts.
  8. they add it, in a good way. more torque more power.
  9. I have no experience with it on the dirt. If that's the case, that's great. Was this on heavily modded bikes or what state of tune? I have no doubt tho, as my experience with comparing timing is on mild modded motors but even on them, there's a definite seat of the pants difference between 4 and 8 / 9 and it wouldn't be the first time something didn't pan out on the dyno that was very apparent on the dirt.
  10. Don't use sand paper to finish it, use a little propane / butane torch. you'll never get the factory finished shine back with sand paper, it'll look matted, but heating it with a torch just enough, will smooth it out and bring back out the factory shine and it'll look like a factory finished edge.
  11. oh shit, sorry sa3ood_banshee
  12. i say keep the gearing and go for a little less agressive tire, but then, the sprocket will be A LOT cheaper so do what's best for ya.
  13. paypal is the only way to do it. it protects the buyer big time. only thing to complain about with it is the fees, but as the seller, just pass them on to the buyer. as a buyer, i'd be more than willing to pay a tad more, pay for the fees to have the protection and ease of doing it in bed in my boxers on my own time and not having to stress about going and getting a MO and getting it into the mail and blah blah blah; few clicks and it's done. I won't buy something on ebay unless it's with paypal. i've had to use paypal twice to combat deadbeats and both times it's gotten me my money back and one of them was for over 5 bills.
  14. screw all you!! I need me an RZ.... :ninja:
  15. it's not spelled "wat", it's "what".
  16. Lectrons are very nice carbs, very responsive and work well for the right application. They are very easy to tune, IF you know how to tune them but they are very different from other carbs. Main issue with them that I don't like is the touchiness. They are an on/off, nothing to WOT carb. This makes them very nice for draggers but can be frustrating or harder to ride in other applications.
  17. It's been dyno proven that once you get to +4, there's not really any power gains above that. with that said, there is more response with more timing advance. A bike with +7 or +8 timing advance is snappier and more responsive than one at +4, but as said, no reason to screw around with it at first, see how it runs at +4 and see how you like it, then add more if desired. for the record, I like +7 to +8.
  18. since you already have the carbs, try them, it costs nothing. try them and if you like them, great, your set! if you don't, then you know.
  19. that's awesome. I totally had one of those when I was a little kid. I truly thought the title to this thread was joke...
  20. try some 300's. it's leaning out from the extra load of 6th gear.
  21. for the jetting, get a dial-a-jet. does wonders in environments like that. http://www.thunderproducts.com/dial_a_jet.htm pipes, i'd recommend Fatties. Killer midrange and a smooth top end.
  22. Pro Circuits and T5s would work really well with the 2-1 carb. Trinitys I've heard to be decent mid-top pipes and would work well with the 2-1 as well. The PT Hi's would also work well, they're expensive but worth it. Lots of options but it is possible to have good midrange and top end with the 2-1.
  23. Your 2-1 can handle porting fine, in fact works better with porting, however make sure full drag pipes are what you want. the 2-1 is an all-around cam setup... good for a smooth powerband from bottom to top but not really a drag setup. If you want drag, then get another 35, a set of shearers and have fun. If you want more top end but still a good smooth powerband, get some Paul Turner Hi-Revs and keep the 2-1.
