  1. housetraining is frustrating. my best advice... buy a carpet scrubber thank God we have one or my wife would put the dog and me both outside for good. but i agree, you have to watch them constantly, they are a baby after all. as soon as my pup eats or drinks a lot, we go outside. if he sleeps for a long time, as soon as he gets up, we go outside. when he takes care of business, he gets loved up, maybe even a treat, and back inside right away, so he knows what going out is for. my wife is fed up with it when i'm at work and she has to take care of him, so he spends some time outside tied at his box also. i think he's gonna be an inside/outside dog, depending on whose home at the time when we go to bed, he's in his pen. they usually don't shit or piss where they sleep, unless they can't wait any longer. patience and persistance is the key to any training. other than housetraining, short repetitive sessions is best. spending an hour trying to teach a dog to sit will just bore him, with poor results. and you must be consistent with your commands or motions to avoid confusion. you can't say 'come' one day, then c'mon, c'mon boy, let's go, over here, whatever, and expect them to learn to respond on command. good luck.
  2. it's like trying to ban handguns. it's not gonna happen without one hell of a fight, but it sounds like they are trying to pick one. the anti... people are gonna be surprised at the lengths people will go to prevent this from happening. i'd say the anti's had better run for the hills they may well be being chased by an army of armed atv'ers
  3. i had an '00 blaster before my shee, mostly cuz of $$ and my buds i rode with had blasters, a beartracker, lakota, etc... but the blaster would barely take me up the hill climbs i wanted to do and felt kind of small. so i traded it the next summer for a new shee. it was great, a lot more speed along with a lot better braking. i was as happy as could be. a wise decision
  4. my understanding was that the '06 model will be the last, which is released in mid '05. so no, they will not be produced in '06.
  5. i really like my hjc helmet. good helmet for a decent price. and i agree with searching for the dot and snell approved helmets. adds a little more insurance to the safety of my noggin. i've been lookin for boots also, and i think the Thor t-30's may be about the best deal for the $$. i'm not gonna spend $400-$500 on boots. so far my old work boots, steel toe wolverines work just fine.
  6. i was on a group ride once and got behind a fat chic like that as a passenger on the bike in front of me for miles she liked to hold her arms out like she was flying or something, which might have been fun for her, but watching from behind and seeing all of her flab flapping in the wind pretty much took all of the fun out of the ride for me .
  7. by the way, check out www.rockymountainatv.com for the pro design, they have the best deal i've found. for most other things also
  8. i have a pro design pro flow kit w/foam filters. it also has an o-ring which helps seal the manifold to the air box, but i also slipped on a little silicone just to be safe. it is 100x better than the stock pos. i run through creeks often too, usually not anything over the air box though. i left the lid off due to the increase in response and power and haven't had any trouble yet. i pulled the drain catch from the bottom of the box too so if i do get into deep water, it will quickly drain back out. ditching the lid, or any mods to the air box will require rejetting though to compensate for the additional air flow. i started out with the same thoughts as you, keeping the box closed up tight, but after riding without the lid, it quickly changed my mind. my first attempt to gain air flow was removing the snorkel and putting a fine window screen over the gaping hole to catch debris. then added a load of the 1" uni filters into the lid, 12 of them. nothing compared to ditching the lid altogether though. check and clean the filters if needed after each ride, and they should be cool. oh yeah, and if you do hit deep water, a lot of it can be squeezed from the filters while still attached and in the box, and drained out without the catch in place. ditch the lid, put on some pipes and shee'll really come alive. good luck!
  9. yeah man, the dirt digger clutch and hd springs should do the trick. if your running the stock basket and such, look closely for stress cracks on everything and the basket fingers to be grooved out from the plates. it's a wonder my hub and p-plate were still together for all the little cracks that were in them.
  10. if you're losing that much into your cylinders and it's pushing out the exhaust wouldn't the plugs be fouling or running like shit? sounds more like a rich fuel ratio, and a leak somewhere to me. are you sure it's not leaking where the case halves meet, or out your drain plug or something??
  11. i hotwired mine once. we went to a poker run and just as we were about to hit the trails, i discovered that i didn't have my key. i knew i had it when i left the house, i made sure of it. not in the truck, or any pockets, searched everywhere. i wasn't gonna sit out the ride so we wired it. i had a spare at home so i rehooked it after we got back. later while washing my riding clothes, i found my key. it had fallen thru a hole in my pocket and was hanging in the inner liner of my pants at my ankle the whole time i prefer to have the key there. not so much for theft deterrent though, well not in a permanent sense. just to keep friends, family, whatever from taking off with it without my permission or not knowing about it, which actually rarely ever happened but when it did it really ticked me off. otherwise it never leaves the switch anyway.
  12. no doubt. insurance companies suck. if they hear ninja, cbr, gsxr, yzf, or whatever, jack up the rates!! the bad thing is that some of the other 'cruiser' bikes have the same motors and just a little different frame and look and setup, just don't have all the plastics to make it look like a racer and the rates are a lot cheaper.
  13. as i said before, it's neverending!
  14. i had a german shepherd (female) for 11 years, died this spring. just picked up a male shepherd pup last week. 6 wks old and already 9.3 lbs, he's gonna be a biggin like his father, which was a little over 130lbs. no pics to post yet though. shepherds are great very loyal, good with the family, great guard dog, and yep, a great best friend. i love having a dog around for all of these things. i'd like to get a beagle yet though to have a hunting dog too. hopefully for the upcoming season!!
  15. i hate to bring up the homosexuality thing, but it already has been to some extent, and i have to agree with Holyman on this one, if i've understood things correctly. my take on this that if you are saved, and truly have devoted your life to Christ, and the Holy Spirit resides in you, then you wouldn't commit sins such as this. it is a choice that you make and it is so plain and simple, man and woman, not man and man, woman and woman. your devotion to the Lord would stop you from giving in to the tempation of homosexuality, adultery, or whatever. however, if you have done this, and you truly are sorry for it and ask Christ's forgiveness and to wash you clean of it, he will. BUT that doesn't mean that you can intentionally do it and be expecting to be forgiven for it once you've had your fun. it's a matter of repenting for your sins, changing your ways and your life and letting the Holy Spirit guide you the rest of your days. not a get out of Hell free card in your pocket while you decide to do things that you know you shouldn't. it can be forgiven, and left in the past, what you do after that moment of being saved and forgiven of your sins is how you will be judged. you will never be sinless, but there's a difference between knowingly choosing the sinful path, when you know that you shouldn't, and slipping up now and then. and God's rules are very simple concerning homosexuality, he condemns it, whether you like it or not, or believe it's ok or wrong. it's God's rules that we are to live by, as given to us in the bible, not how man interprets and twists them to suit his/her own desires in life. by the way, i hate seeing posts on here where people say things like " i'm gonna go to hell, oh well, bring the beer and we'll party on." if you knew the reality of hell, i don't understand how people would choose Hell over Heaven. i don't have time right now, but maybe some posts about the reality of Hell will open some eyes in here.
  16. yeah paying for it is another issue. the manufacturers have some pretty good deals anymore, as far as monthly payments. you can get a new quad, or even cars/trucks for a lower monthly payment than you can work out with most loans from banks for a used one, and have a brand new ride.
  17. this could be a never ending topic. having different interpretations of the Bible is inevitable. but after seeing all of the quoted verses, quoted encyclopedia articles, and everyones arguments, my opinion has not changed, and it boils down to this: Christmas - regardless of the specific date of the celebration of Christmas, it is the celebration of Christ's birth. a celebration of Jesus entering into our world to begin his earthly life, from which came his teachings and our reasoning of a 'Christian' life. no, he did not command us to remember his birth, but i don't think it is a bad thing to do so. we are still celebrating Christ, not some pagan god or whatever may coincide with that time of year for others of other religions, etc. and i do not teach, nor intend to teach my children that Christmas is about Santa Claus and getting gifts and candy. my daughter recognizes Santa's picture, but she doesn't recieve gifts from him, they are from her mommy and daddy, at a time when we celebrate the gift of giving, as God gave us Jesus Christ as our saviour, and Christ gives us himself, the key to the doorway of heaven. Easter - Christ did command us to celebrate his death, and resurrection. again, the Easter bunny doesn't get much credit here. the eggs and candy are merely a representation of the idea of new life that has been given to us, and how sweet it can be. if that helps my children understand that concept and then they can relate to the new life that Christ has made available for us through his death and resurrection, so be it. as long as they are taught the real meaning of Easter, and not that we are celebrating the Easter bunny and candy, i have no problems with that.
  18. i'm not sure if you can get a license, or just a permit. but until your 18, i'm sure the rules are like with the permit, no passengers except licensed motorcyclist, and your only allowed riding during daylight hours.
  19. i didn't want to buy a used one because i know how everyone tries to make mod's to them, but how many really know what they are doing, i didn't want to have to solve someone else's problems out of my pocket. i'd rather start from scratch too with a new one and make it my own. anything and everything that is worn out or replaced or modified, i know how and why it was done. otherwise, i'd always be a little leary about what's gonna go wrong next. i know exactly what condition my shee is in and how it got there, and i know i can depend on it.
  20. i bought my upp kit over a year ago, and it is holding up very well. the removal of the old system is the worst part. i did end up unhooking the swing arm rather than just chisel things apart, which really isn't as hard as you might think. next time around should be much easier, but my upp's are holding up great and i don't foresee changing again anytime soon.
  21. doesn't really sound like the clutch to me if shee didn't rev at all when you felt the power loss, but more like just a miss. if it's your clutch, you'd most likely notice it slipping when you shift, especially in about 3rd and up. i'd clean the air filter and carbs, maybe throw in some new plugs before diving into the clutch. there is little difference between 85 and 80 wt, especially when sticking with the same brand. that shouldn't have hurt anything.
  22. i laugh at the ads in the paper like 'Yamaha atv for sale, best offer' yeah, i'm gonna go call that # right now!!
  23. hmmm, with the banshee being put out of production, a completely stock banshee may be worth something someday, being such a rare find. i may just buy a new one and store it. it will be like a yamaha artifact for my grandchildren. a great inheritance for someone when i kick the bucket. seriously bud, you will find that you will replace stock part after stock part after stock part, over and over. if $$ is the issue, just hang in there, and when something needs replaced, upgrade. most upgrades really aren't much more than stock replacements, with much better performance and durability. do it as needed, and before long, you'll have a screamin mod'd shee.
