  1. uhh, ok so how do you measure the squish?? the base gaskets i used are yamaha gaskets from the stealership, which i believe were in in the .030" range. i did put a tiny bit of sealer on them also for insurance, but just very thin. they were not the kind like what was on it, steel with a coating on them. by the way, i put in the long reach adaptor on the compression tester and got the same readings as before. i'm tempted to try a different tester, just out of curiousity.
  2. you gotta love the HQ for info, but one way or another, it's always got ya spending more $$
  3. that must have been taken after he made the first big payment and seen how little the balance dropped.
  4. soft throw aways here... i think any contacs will be a little more sensitive to dirt/dust than not wearing any. maybe you need a better pair of goggles. mine don't bother me when riding with my goggles on. but they sure do suck without goggles.
  5. cool - better wear your helmet bud-and at least a good jacket and some gloves
  6. well that makes sense to me. i didn't realize that's what one of the adaptor's was for. the one i used was really short. i found an adapter in the kit that is very close to the length of the plug. i'll give it another shot tomorrow. thanks bud
  7. i just put in my v3's and fired her up for the first time today. much tighter throttle response and shee rips again. of course this was along with a fresh top end also, so who knows, but i'm not complaining.
  8. i didn't receive any mains with my pipes that i remember if i did i didn't use them. if shee's tuned right, it shouldn't be bogging, regardless of the pipes. tune it to the pipes. you may need to raise the needle clip a bit, lowering the needle. but i'd still ditch the stock silencers asap and start over.
  9. about 1200 ft the chart on Noss's site is what i was going by and hoping to achieve. it's a new tester (actron) i had a thread in product reviews and the majority seemed to approve of it it's the first time being used.
  10. for where you ride... i love my pc's -- pro design adaptor and foam filters(non-sand riding) umm, razors-shredders-ps bandits-holeshots boost bottles
  11. i didn't find the actual bolt sizes in the clymers, but my yammy shop manual does list the size and thread pitch, not the length of the bolt though. but that's easy enough to figure out. besides, lowe's has those handy thread/size gadgets to check it out anyway. i just picked up a connecting rod to swingarm bolt there today.
  12. if you're talking the tranny vent, it's too full
  13. same here, and mine were $14 per cylinder just to hone.
  14. stock bore -cylinders honed, wiseco pro lites, noss head w/20cc domes, v3's (all new and just installed) also new plugs, of course. no timing advance or porting, elevation about 1200 ft compression is reading about 137-138 on both sides. i thought it would be more in the 150's range i did the heat cycle deal like this: shee fired up right away, let it idle for not quite 5 minutes, and let cool. fired up and let idle/low throttle blips for about another 5 minutes and let cool. fired up and rode for a few minutes, let cool. fired up and rode for about 20 min, let cool. checked compression and got around 135. rode until well warmed up/hot, and checked again. about 137-138 on both sides with throttle fully open, and several reads. shee definitely has more snap and seems to have awesome throttle response, but i thought the compression would read higher. is there something i'm missing here??
  15. my thoughts exactly
  16. i would suggest getting it honed (bored only if needed) and new rings/pistons. then look into pipes, reeds, cool head etc before a big bore kit. i wouldn't get a big bore kit without those things first to let it really open things up. stock bore, reeds and head wouldn't require getting the crank welded, but i would imagine that a big bore kit definitely would.
  17. my nephew did pretty much the same thing on his blaster a few months ago, coasting down a hill. at least it's not a bitch of a job to fix it. the hardest part is now done bud.
  18. i wanted to go but i had to work
  19. i have to work i guess the mothers in my life will just have to deal with it.
  20. my wife's always griping about my credit card, cuz my shee parts are usually ordered and put on it. not that it can't be paid off, just the idea i guess. but i don't go overboard. it's about $600 now. i can't imagine having several grand on it.
  21. did it look something like this??
  22. THINK BEFORE YOU ACT!! the best thing you could do is thoroughly think through any ideas, plans, actions that you may have lined up. do not give her or anyone else ammo to use against you at a later time. if you keep yourself on the straight and narrow until it's all over, then no matter what the outcome is, you can still have some pride and self respect, and respect of others since you didn't do anything wrong. even if she's not a royal bitch, her lawyer will take care of that job for her, and try to make you look like a worthless asshole every chance he/she gets. don't give them circumstances to take advantage of and turn things on you. if there happens to be an affair going on, DO NOT go nuts and kick the shit out of the guy, at least not until after the divorce is settled. all that would do is label you as being the abusive type etc., and they will use it against you even if there is not a history of it with your wife. you need to be forward thinking now bud. don't dwell on what's happened in the past and try to envision where you want to be when this is all over and set that as your goal. it's going to be rough getting there, without a doubt, but odds are you will be much happier in the end.
  23. that's what i was afraid of. good idea, thanks.
  24. well, that's what i was hoping for, very simple, but wasn't sure if it was a good idea or not. i figured if i took the air hose to it afterwards and wiped it dry too it should be ok. thanks nyuk
