  1. Most search bars and gimmickey toolbars are simply gateways for spyware and adware, opening a door for whatever the developer has allowed or sold the rights to, the ability to enter your browser and install whatever it wants (pretty much). By installing any of the toolbars, or system-tray (that little cluster of icons near the clock) utilities, you agree to allow such 3rd party applications to be installed during any updates or sometimes randomly. I've removed a ton of spyware from peoples computers in the past, all of which could have been prevented by using a reputable browser such as Firefox, Mozilla, and to some degree Netscape (i miss Netscape 4.7 [circa 1997] ). Internet explorer, mostly because of it's active-x compatibility, is full of loopholes when you add any sort of "browser helpers" or plug-ins. Even Outlook Express can allow active-x code to infect your computer with spyware/adware/viruses, since the engine it uses to view HTML email is nonetheless...internet explorer. Oh, so then Microsoft adds tabbed browsing and some catchy features that Firefox already had, and they call it IE 7. Well, FYI if you plan on using programs like the one from stamps.com, it won't work after you upgrade to IE 7. I'm sure there is boat load of other programs that stop working after you upgrade to IE7. Lastly, pay close attention when installing any trial-ware or free software that sounds too good to be true. If you skim through the agreement you'll see terms like "3rd Party" and " software partners"... check those areas to make sure they're not implying they'll be installing anything other than what you are expecting them to. And even though the "virtual pets" and "bonzai buddy" are funny to throw across your screen and whatnot; the little demons are catalysts for spyware, adware, and even data mining. Installer Beware!
  2. After the mess of problems when XP first came out, I am extremely hesitant to run Vista. I may consider it after the first service pack is released. I've been running XP on the desktop. I was running Ubuntu on an 800mhz laptop before I bought my Alienware lappy. I'll be converting that to dual-boot Ubuntu/XP shortly. Any windows 2000 lover will fit right in with Ubuntu, but if you like the flash and flare of XP you may try Kubuntu. Mac users will see a lot of similarities in file structuring and layout since a lot of mac's ideas come from open-source applications in linux; so if you don't want to pay an arm & a leg for a mac or vista, a good linux build might be something to consider. The only considerable drawbacks with linux in general are that sometimes it's not easy to get your wireless card to work on it or run windows applications and games. If you do want to run windows apps on linux though check out Wine, a windows emulator for linux. Well, there's my geek-speak for the day.
  3. 85 and 90?! wow, people here are coming out of their winter shell and even getting their motorcycles ready, myself included, and it's just hitting the 55 degree mark. Either way, the trip to Vegas in May will get me into some warm weather.

    Why I'm Tired

For a couple years I've been blaming it on lack of sleep and too much pressure from my job, but now I found out the real reason: I'm tired because I'm overworked. The population of this country is 237 million. 104 million are retired. That leaves 133 million to do the work. There are 85 million in school, which leaves 48 million to do the work. Of this there are 29 million employed by the federal government, leaving 19 million to do the work. 2.8 million are in the Armed Forces, which leaves 16.2 million to do the civilian work. Take from the total the 14,800,000 people who work for State and City governments and that leaves 1.4 million to do the work. At any given time there are 188,000 people in hospitals, leaving 1,212,000 to do the work. Now, there are 1,211,998 people in prisons. That leaves just two people to do the work. You and me. And you're sitting at your computer reading jokes.

    The moto mama

It's like riding and nookie all wrapped up into one package.
  7. I have a street bike myself. I may be upgrading to a newer bike this year, not sure yet. I think ever since i got one, I'll probably never go without one. I take it to the office, and ride around all the time on the good days. I do have a bunch of friends that I ride with so that helps keep things exciting, as well as seeing new places a lot when we ride. Actually working on a new site right now for street bikers. More to come on that later, but as for the street scene, I don't think I'll ever be without a street bike.
  8. You're yelling. Sorry, have to mention it when someone uses all caps.
  9. think of BHQ Roosts as money. Premium Members can use that money to bet on games in the Casino.
  10. Any errors or questions can be asked in the specific forum topic i've created so anyone with that same issue can go and see if the answer is there. Casino area support topic. http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=75066
  11. Let me know via PM if anyone gets an error along the way with the CAsino. i now have the new points system in place to record/track/dispense Roosts daily.
  12. Not as of yet, but there are other forum modifications I will be looking into which utilizes the "points systems" which gives you Roosts.
  13. As I write this, there may be some interruption in the Casino as I have removed the battle modification to install a points system software. As for points/currency known as "Roosts", you can use them in the Casino as cash to bet with in the Casino games.
  14. Go to the wallet area near the top of the Casino. From there You can withdraw some money to your "bank". Basically to go into any one game you can't have more than 500 Roosts to spend. As for the attack system, that is merely a points-system i needed to install for the Casino. I probably will be disabling the attack features since it's not really practical for the forums.
  15. You need a DOS emulator. essentially 16-bit games utilized DOS, even though you ran them in windows 95/98/ME. DOSbox works pretty good. http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/download.php?main=1
  16. Working on the repair now. Looks like they just replaced one file in order to get that Baron page up. After the repair/restore of the original file I'll be doing a little updating to the software. Another script kiddie home from school apparently.

  23. and before anyone says how they stole ideas from apple, let me say that statement is false. Microsoft stole ideas from the same people mac stole them from/paid off, and vice versa. Linux and Open Source environments. Besides, even though this kid looks like a baked super geek, he pinpoints the argument: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QI3VB1VPm4c it doesn't shame on either companies but moreover just sets the record straight.
