I am switching to either CPI or Shearer inframes over the winter. Leaning towards the Shearers as the motor builder runs them, and many claim they produce more pull with his motors. And I would believe it too.

But who has them, how do you like them, etc.

I heard they leak and wiggle at the exhaust ports alot... not sure who told me that or where I read it. But with good O-rings, and maybe something extra in there to keep it tight, I don't see that being a problem.

What's the scoop on these?

I love my Trinity's, with them being stainless. Very nice to have that luxury let me tell you! But I know the Shearer's will haul more ass for sure. Kevin at HJR swears by them, and he did wonders on my motor so far. Won't be the last time I send a set of jugs to him. So I am leaning towards this pipe.

I think I might get them through Cascade to get the better plating...

Who has input?

who is your motor builder and what kinda motor work do you have? either of those pipes are going to produce more hp and more pull on top, but youre gonna end up sacrificing some on the bottom. can you afford to do that with the hills youre riding?

Kevin Herr did the work at HJR. He does all his porting and recommends the Shearers to compliment the porting. All my mods are in the signature...

If I have to do it, I can play with the gearing and such. The bike has the bottom end now, not as much as I would like, but to have all the top end I want, you can't have it all, you know? I'll just tinker with it, the timing and such when I get the new pipes.

I have my timing at +5 now, it can be adjusted and such since I have the plate to get some more bottom end. It will be a new tickering job.

they are a night and day difference on the top end they produce, it just frees up the powerband on the higher end as compared to the cpi with are more of a mid-top pipe.

call 1818-500-7263 we have them in stock, and have a new style order for us that we send it to get polished before the production chrome one you do that you cant tell the difference between those and triple chrome

sandtoyz unlimited. its the same place he sends his regular production chrone the thing is now we are sending the pipes to get polished before they put the plating on so they are basically show chrome look without the price.

I have the cascade show chrome ones and love them. As far as leaking, none here. These pipes pull very hard as far as you can rev. they are def. a top end pipe. I will give them a  no doubt. You will have to space the left pipe from the head but no big deal. My buddy has a drag ported shee with CPI's and my bike will walk his. Of course he don't have HJR. :whistling:

I thought Polishing the steel was supose to be part of the plating process.

I havent seen a pair of chrome shearer's or CPI's that came from shearer or cpi. I have herd stories of chrome bubling and peeling though. That was enough for me to go to cascade to get my cpi's. They get them bare and have some one plate them in Oregon. I dont know where cpi gets theirs chromed at. It just seems when you see pipes for sale they are described as "Show Chrome" but there is a litte peeling or bubling. Granted they usually are used but a REAL show chrome shouldnt peel that is just a poor or cheap plating job.

So now unfortunatly it is hard to tell what is actually show chrome and what is not. If i bought a pair of new pipes that were supose to be show chrome and they bubled and peeled I would be pissed. Cascade has built them self a good reputation in polishing and chrome work. If you want the real deal I figure you have to go with who you know.

And that is the truth!

I will see if Matt or Jack will let me rip for a few minutes at their house with the CPI's but I am pretty sure that this is the right decision.

nop you need to deal with these pipes first hand when he does the nickle plate its just the bare metal that gets sent out and plated no polishing no anything thus leaving inperfections on the surface of the metal leading to pealing. the buffing of the metal before plating helps the nickle adhere to the surface better and with lower amounts of flaws. its up to you. i have black nickle plated toomey stingers and nothing has happened to them for two years.

I got a set from Shearer and sent them back because the chrome looked very bad. There was bare metal showing at some of the welds. I went with the same pipe from Cascade. Night and day difference.

I went with Shearers because Kevin recommended them. The fit was good. I had to loosen all the motor mounts and jack the motor up as high in the mounts as possible to get the clearance all the way around. No spacers were needed anywhere. I have noticed a little leakage around the flanges, but I keep it clean and that has not been an issue at all.

I haven't run CPI, so I can't compare. But I am happy with the Shearers.
