Keyser Soze Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 A couple weeks ago my banshee crapped out deep on a trail at haspin acres in indiana. While I was being towed back I popped it in gear and it fired right up. It sounded bad, and missed out unless you gave it alot of gas. After checking this out there is no spark when you kick start it. I replaced the coil and CDI but still no spark. The stator passes a continuity and resistance test so I didnt think that that could be it? The kill switch and key switch were also disabled and still no spark. The TORS have been removed as well. Anyone really good the the electrical on these things? I dont know where to turn. There are not really any professional shops around here. Quote
gumby6t9 Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 did you replace the plug caps when you replaced the coil? Quote
98_shee Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 check the flywheel out and make sure it didn't come loose Quote
BenBB Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 And the pickup coil, check the gap and scope out the wires to it. It could still be the stator, they can read ok with an ohmmeter and still not work (broken solder somewhere, cut wire that sometimes makes contact, gremlins, etc.). But definitely check the flywheel and caps as suggested. Good luck. Quote
Face Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 I have a post about the exact same thing. if you get yours resolved let me know, and I'll do the same. it is really pissing me off! Quote
. Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 Be careful of a 4wheeler that will only run when pop started sort of. You sure your not getting spark? With it only running when pop started, and running like crap, it kind of sounds like an air leak. Quote
Keyser Soze Posted April 17, 2008 Author Report Posted April 17, 2008 Yea im postive there is no spark. I tried kicking the hell out of it in a dark room and putting my finger on the cap when my friend kicked. The pick up coil makes the most sense. If it was gaped to far it would work if it was push started? Anyone have any idea on what the gap is supossed to be? I dont have anything other then a tape measure lol I heard about the thickness of a matchbook? When I get it figured out ill let you know what I had to to. Quote
flyingkermit Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 Stator all the way I had the EXACT same problem when i first got my shee research my posts. Should be one of the first ones i made. Almost spent over $400 on a new CDI glad i didn't Looks like it's time for a new +4 stator from Ricky about $125 Quote

I had same problem on mine, replaced the whole wiring harness. had lots of bad spots throughout. bike ran ten times better, havent had any more problems. Inspect your wiring and see if there are any bare spots. Quote
