Trans oil

Just wondering what type of trans oil you all use, and how often you change it. I usually change after each trip to the dunes but someone told me that was overkill?

i use BEL RAY gear saver 75w

i change it every 5 rides

i've been using belray 80 wt gear saver in my shee and nephew's blaster for years. i pretty much change them both every spring, mid summer, and end of summer. depending on how much we ride it may be more. i might get to ride once a week if i'm lucky though. but i always thought that after every ride was way overkill.

I run 15W-40 in my cases. However I'm thinking of switching this year to well, something else that is good.

If it's any help, I used to change it in my RZ350 every 1500 miles..... That would probably be like every 10 years on a Banshee!! :biggrin:

So it's once a season for me...but even that is overkill!!

I only hit the dunes 5-8 weekends a season.

Thanks for all the info. looks like i'm spending a lot of mony on oil changes that i dont need to be. I use the gear saver also, but its nice to have some other people tell me that its good stuff. Thanks again!

I run ATF in my 4mil duner and change it every week during the summer when I ride all the time.

Napa 30 weight oil... I change it every weekend.

I use the honda 80/85 stuff or what ever it is..

Bel Ray 80wt 2-3 times a year.

the type F you have to change more often but more readily available than the Bel Ray.

Maxima 85w endurance two stroke clutch oil. I Change it after 2 weekends of riding. Haven't had a single tranny problem in 2 years.

change mine after every ride & if its a long weekend in the dunes its every day.

i dont think a little preventive maintenance can hurt besides oil is cheep compared to a frozen motor.

i dont care what anybody says even the wife when shee sees the bill for the case of oil for the weekend :biggrin:

i was also told to run a little over the full mark. like a 1/2"

i run yamalube 10w40.

Get a magnetic drain plug, and put it in next time you change the oil. FAST Racing has them. Just some cheap insurance.
