bansheeman1988 Posted February 14, 2008 Report Posted February 14, 2008 (edited) I think I f*ed up my clutch today, she squeels pretty loud when i let out the clutch in gear so Im looking at baskets and kits to replace this but first have to tear it down to see if thats even it. I looked at a magnum billet basket and was wondering if it was good. I seen that forum on here about upgrading and looks easy as hell. And what plates should i get, some barnett dirt diggers or just go the cheap way out with tusk. I want something that will hold up for a long time any input is appreciated! Oh and also I looked at one on M&M atv, is that one any good or should i stick with name brand... Edited February 14, 2008 by bansheeman1988 Quote
bansheeman1988 Posted February 14, 2008 Author Report Posted February 14, 2008 anybody ever run those barnett carbon fiber plates? how do they hold up? Quote
MILO Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 when i was searching for a basket most told me to go with Hinson, so i did. I have a Hinson basket, through in a new stock hub and p-plate with a Tusk kit. I just couldn't see spending $900 on the whole Hinson set up, at least not on my shee. maybe if it was built up more but it's not yet. i haven't had any problems with my Hinson basket or tusk kit. i'm pretty impressed with it so far. yamaha04 Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 alot of guys i have read on here are going with the tusk kits. they have been saying they hold up just as good or better then the barnnets. i would go tusk with any name aftermarket basket. wiseco, histon, ahhhh there are some others Quote
bansheeman1988 Posted February 15, 2008 Author Report Posted February 15, 2008 okay i just dont wanna spend 200 on a hinson basket, would a magnum do the job and be the same quality? Quote
spike Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 I have the magnum one that fast sells. seems like a good product. lots of poeple are running em on High hp cubs all day without any issues. when you buy hinson you just pay for the name imo. they all use the same aluminum and they all use CNC machines. cant go wrong with magnum. inthemail Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 anyone have any pics of the entire hinson setup? i know the stock PP's and hubs are good enough but what the hell might as well go big or go home.... especially in my case where everything is a fuckin mess... are the hinson pressure plates and hubs billet too? as for your question, i have hered alot of good things about the tusk kits and will probley be going with one of them myself. the baskets, as said. all the same. billet is billet. but there is one clutch basket that has stainless clips. but it was mentioned that one of them coming loose would do some serious damage to gears..... id go all billet. MILO Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 if you run the hinson basket, hub, and p-plate you also need to run their plate set up. if i'm not mistaken it's an 8 fiber plate kit and a stock clutch plate kit has 7. someone chime in if i'm wrong. Quote
shanYE west Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 I've used the magnum basket and it seems to be just as good as the hinson's and alot easier on the wallet. The barnett baskets look interesting... I've never used one and I dont know anyone who has though. I can't see spending 500 bucks on a Hinson inner hub and pressure when you can spend 50 on the OEM parts and they work just as well. The Tusk kits do seem to be holding well. I've used them in a few bikes now and they seem to be working well.. Quote
00tbanshee Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 i run a PE billet basket.for $140 you can't go wrong.runa stock inner hub and plate with one of jeff's clutch's Quote
FireHead Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 when you buy hinson you just pay for the name imo. they all use the same aluminum and they all use CNC machines. cant go wrong with magnum. With Hinson, you pay for American manufacturing and better heat and surface treatment. I don't know much about the Magnum baskets though............. Quote
dajogejr Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 okay i just dont wanna spend 200 on a hinson basket, would a magnum do the job and be the same quality? I'm going on my third year with the Magnum from Jeff @ FAST. A year on my 4 mil cub on gas, last year with my 10 mil on alky, hundreds of passes on it and it still looks great. When I bought my 4 mil cub in beginning of 06, I bought all new OEM hub and pressure plate, Magnum basket...and it all still works just fine... After three years of abuse, I'm going to retire the FAST clutch I have... Not because it doesn't still work, because it's a little worn and has earned the right to retire.... I'll be buying another FAST clutch very soon.... Quote
qboronyrican Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 how about boss racing baskets ....anybody use these....are they good??? Quote
