riderofthestorm Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 on y local free classifieds(pennswoods.net) this guy is stating some pretty big words which i can find really hard to believe, don't get me wrong i like all 2-strokes 2 or 4 wheels, but these are some pretty tall words for a tecate if you ask me! http://pubat0.pennswoods.net/cgi-bin/class...ex=203643859903 so do you think this is possible? hahahahaha Quote
wacko2000 Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 well I dont now to much about that bike, but I doubt that its going to be eating any bike that was listed... some people exaggerate way to much... Quote
BansheeRider71 Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 A Tecate is no more than Kawasaki's version of the 250R by Honda an the quadracer by Suzuki, A Kawasaki frame with a KX 250 motor in it, I have never seen one in real life an have never seen one run before, they were only made for like 3 years I believe and are very rare and hard to find. From what I have heard they are quick but not quick enough to beat those bikes listed. Quote
inthemail Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 id love to find a tecate 4 somewhere... i HAVE ridden one and they ARE fuckin fast.... stock for stock they'll eat a 250R and probley hold along with a shee Quote
dalegoldston Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 The tecate's were fast but hard to keep running. Quote

seabass Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 (edited) I don't see any crazy dune bikes, etc. in my neck of the woods but the fastest bike I've ever been riding with. A Kawasaki Tecate 3 wheeler! This thing was SCARY! Edited January 13, 2008 by seabass Quote
dalegoldston Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 I really don't know its like second hand info. Just heard they were hard to keep running, kinda buggy probably ele that sounds correct. But I have always liked kawi. I had a mojave a long time ago and beat the crap out of it, like a timex just kept running. Quote

gipperz Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 Tecates were fast, the fastest of the 250 class but were unreliable. The three wheelers handle okay but they would like to throw the chain alot and break cases. The tecates are no joke but I've always heard that they needed alot of wrench time. gipperz Quote
medinacirilo Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 my cousins had one, i last rode it (or saw them) was in 1995. Very smooth and deceptivley fast. I bet the 3 wheeler was scary fast, like my dads ATC 250r; now THAT was a bike! The Tecate-4 looked nice and had some neat features like a removable subframe and stuff. Rode pretty comfortable, too. 2004LEBanshee Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 there no slouch there a powervalved 250 I believe. Sweet bike Id love to have one. Quote
floyd398 Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 (edited) They're definately fast. At least the 3-wheeler was. I used to ride with a guy in the late 80's who had a 250 trike and yeah it was unreliable. I towed him out of the woods many times with my atc 110, But when that thing ran it ran fast. He got clocked on a frozen lake hopatcong going 92mph. I don't remember what he had done to it but I know it was piped. It got stolen too. He was pissed to say the least. brian Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 i owned a 1985 tecate three wheeler. it was fast, no doubt, but i think people overrate them. it would keep up with the 250R three wheeler, but barely. it only had 5 gears to the 6 in the 250R, so on the top end the 250R had the edge. it would whip the 250R fourtrax with no effort at all tho. prolly beat a stock banshee as well (never raced one with it). but, put that engine in a four wheeler and it's not that impressive. and yes ! it did break down often. i put in a couple of stators and a coil in the 2 years i owned it.
