Relytt58 Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 (edited) alright so i have an 03 banshee and can get a 4mil hot rods crank for close to nothing from a buddy who got it in a trade, the crank is brand new. I was wondering how hard it is to put the crank in. i know that i can bring it in and have it done but i prefer to work on my own stuff. i can do pretty much everything else as far as working on it but i've never done a crank Edited August 24, 2007 by Relytt58 Quote
00tbanshee Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 you have to split the cases. if you don't have the port work for it i wouldn't even waste your time Quote
BellicoseBanshee Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 Yeah, you will be very happy if you get your cylinders done before installing that crank, well worth the money! Quote
Relytt58 Posted August 25, 2007 Author Report Posted August 25, 2007 alright so how hard is it to split the cases? ive done it on dirt bikes but never on a banshee. i was planing on geting them ported before i did the crank. Quote

I don't think it is hard. If you have done a two stroke before, then you should have no problems. Just read through the manual and follow the steps. I think BigRed350X has a case splitting guide, I will try and find it. Here it is: Splitting the Cases Hope that helps! Quote
Relytt58 Posted August 25, 2007 Author Report Posted August 25, 2007 thank you guys so much the guide looks preatty easy i have not done a 2 stroke but it looks alot easier then my 4 stroke bike. i will pick up the crank tomorrow but will wait to put it in until i get a port job. who should i go thru on the port job? i dont have much money so i good cheap job would be ideal. i mostly run out in the dunes with some drag racing. jjdillon426 Posted August 27, 2007 Report Posted August 27, 2007 i just had a 4 mil put in mine and i was told you had to get a stroker plate on stock cylinders. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted August 27, 2007 Report Posted August 27, 2007 i just had a 4 mil put in mine and i was told you had to get a stroker plate on stock cylinders. who ever told you that is a dumbass. the plate is about the worst route you can go, it give your motor more places to leak and blow that thing up. your best bet is to get a cool head and cut the domes for the stroker. then have your jugs ported for te new crank to match the porting timings Quote
