  1. I already have a second account set up that I have a percentage of my paychecks go into just incase something happens but I will never touch that unless I absolutely have to for family reasons or for collage for my kids. Any of you guys do your own porting? I have port aluminum 4 stroke heads with some help from a buddy that used to build pro moto bike engines. I know that's a completely different set up from a 2 stroke twin but if I got the templates and took my time I personally think I could do it. I have a machine shop at work that I can use after hours if I don't already have everything tool wise my self. Worst case here I mess them up and have to do the 421 like I am planning on doing any way, it would just move getting the cub kit up a little sooner. I will get the Pro design cool head first and run that for awhile and as time goes I will slowly start getting the parts together for the 421. I would like to get the whole kit at once but I don't want to be dumping all that money in at once. Im sure others here have the same problem with the wife not understanding why so much money goes into a bike that is already fast enough to scare people.
  2. What should the compression be at assuming brand new top end with the shaved head? I know that's hard to know not knowing how much was taken off the head but typically what are the numbers? I think for now I will get a cool head for it and leave it alone for now because I you guys are right. I have it in my head that I want a 421 and it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to put money into my stock cylinders. What are your guys suggestions on a cool head? Would I have a problem with putting some PWK 35's on there now or would I have problems of not having enough velocity to pick up the fuel? As far as the timing plate you guys were talking about I already have one in there with it set to around 4 degrees. What set of pipes would you guys suggest?
  3. Also I did a compression test alittle while back and I am sitting at between 115 and 120 psi on both cyl. I am not sure how much was shaved off the head I had that done about 5 years ago and dont remember. That to me seems low to me but I know that I never put a top end in it and I don't think the guy I got it from did either. This bike has been run for maybe 5 hours in the last 3 years. It has been sitting in the shop looking good for the past few years with the occasional 30 min ride around the property but the kids are getting to the age where we can start doing some small dune trips when we have time. I remember on the last trip I got smoked buy a guy on a big bore yfz on pump gas and I didn't enjoy that one to much so I went and borrowed my buddies cascade built 421 and walked by him just to make me want a 421 even more. The 421 will come with time. When I do go riding it is about 60% dune riding and 40% drags.
  4. I have a fairly stock bike and am looking for more out of it. I want to eventually do a 421 cub but that is down the road. I had a 4 mil crank with 115 rods with a 68 bore cub block that I was slowly getting all the parts together to put on until they got swiped out of my garage when I had roommates a few years back. I am not wanting to drop that much money into this thing right now seeing how I have twin 3 year old boys and work in Alaska for the summers. My sig has mostly everything I have done to it so far but like most I want more out of it. I know having a good port job is probably the next step for me but I just want to see what everyone on here has to say about it. I would like to keep getting things that will be compatible with the 421 for when I do end up getting it. I plan on ordering a cool head this summer when I get back from Alaska. Any input would be much appreciated.
  5. I would really like to see some pis too. i have them in yellow right now but it would be nice to have something different that most people dont have
  6. thank you guys so much the guide looks preatty easy i have not done a 2 stroke but it looks alot easier then my 4 stroke bike. i will pick up the crank tomorrow but will wait to put it in until i get a port job. who should i go thru on the port job? i dont have much money so i good cheap job would be ideal. i mostly run out in the dunes with some drag racing.
  7. alright so how hard is it to split the cases? ive done it on dirt bikes but never on a banshee. i was planing on geting them ported before i did the crank.
  8. alright so i have an 03 banshee and can get a 4mil hot rods crank for close to nothing from a buddy who got it in a trade, the crank is brand new. I was wondering how hard it is to put the crank in. i know that i can bring it in and have it done but i prefer to work on my own stuff. i can do pretty much everything else as far as working on it but i've never done a crank
  9. I was wondering how many links a +6 swing arm would take, i have a brand new renthal X ring chain that is 120 links sitting on my bench along with a brand new swinger and wanted to put it on. So is 120 long enough or do i have to buy another chain?
  10. well it looks like you have some people that want the boost bottle but if the deals fall through i REALLY want it. i could have it shipped tomorrow. so if nobody ahead of me gets it PM me.
  11. So I just got took a look at the boots and they have no cracks or holes that I can find. Everything else should be good because all that i did was take the K&N's off put the airbox back on and changed the jets.
  12. It could be an air leak because the only thing that I have changed was put the new jets in and took the K&N's off put the air box back on.
  13. Ok I got the 280 size jets and it acually started "kind of". Well when it started it reved up so i shut it off then i played with my idle and started it again and it still reved. It was also only running on one cylender
  14. Hey thanks and i will order them right now I will get the 270,280, and the 290 size jets just incase.
  15. Hey thanks I will look at all of the eletrical. I have the kit that gets rid of the TORS on it so that isnt a problem. But i will go and look at the wiring right now. Also I found out that my local shop is closed so I have to wait until Friday to get the jets.
  16. Yea im not that much of a newbie. Just to this forum and banshees. The guy that live next door to me just got a banshee and he thought that it was a four poke and ran strait gas in it and blew the engine 30 minutes after he got it! But I will go and buy some 280's tomorrow and try them and i will post the results.
  17. I am using redline at 32:1 does that sound right because that is what i run in my CR250.
  18. Are you sure that sounds right because I have the air box in. I havent tried running it but I thought that that would be really rich because I was running the clamp ons with no air box.
  19. I got my banshee about 2 months ago and it now has Toomy T-5 piped, V-force reeds with spacers, shaved head, TORS removed, and for jetting I am running 320's with the K&N clamp ons. With that setting it Foulded the plugs before i could even start it. But I wanted the airbox in because of the weather here "wet". I live in Washington state at sea level and the temp between 50-70 degrees. ANY Ideas on what i should run because i have no idea. PLEASE HELP i want to run with air box.
