peak-j Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 Alright, in 4 or 5 months, I will be rebuilding my motor. You can see the mods I have now. I ride the dunes about 2 to 3 times a year, and some trails. I want something I can take to the dunes a run the fuck out of it racing in drags, but I also want something to ride through some trails with reliability. I have thought about a 4 mil. build, and have some porting done. What do you guys think my best build would be for my style of riding? Thanks for any info. Quote
RZBansheeMan Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 A 4mil long rod would be an excellent choice, but you probably would get your best answer from some of the reputable engine builders ( there are several out there ) when or if you go for the porting. Quote
BigRed350x Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 If you want to keep it manageable in power and reliable and still run stock-ish stuff, then I would go with a 4mil stroke 5mil longrod ported stock cylinder. Bump up your compression a little and run some higher octane gas (or alky) and bump up your timing to get more low end and throttle response out of it. Suspension will make a night and day difference if you spend any kinda time on the dunes. Quote
locogato11283 Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 id say 4mm dune port would suit your style. 33mm carbs, advance timing, good pipes..etc. Quote
burleybanshee Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 I ride the same type, dunes, like dragging and riding around the ranches. I have 4mil,5mil long rod, noss head, 35's, play/dune port. Love the power, can play all day and not be worn out by the way the power comes on. Starts down low and keeps pulling. It will cost to do a 4mil, need more mods, but I would not go back. Plus extended swing arm would be a must in dunes. Quote
