xXBlessedWithDeathXx Posted July 21, 2007 Report Posted July 21, 2007 ok. I dont want to make this a long post but i have no choice. i have a 87 banshee, fmf pipes, trinity 2 in 1 carb i think 35mm ,2 1/2 HP degree key, v force 3 reeds, new 60 over bore with wiseco pro light pistons rings , new crank (oem), new bottom end (gears and all), K&N air filter no box I have a problem with plugs. carb is clean and when i have new plugs in its a monster. no bog no crazy smoke, just perfect but after about 20 minutes the right cylinder is fauled . it all starts at top end. after about 15 min it will pop and bog. its only the right side. it would shut off time to time but i pinched the coil wires that have contact to the plug so it has good contact now (thats RICKY STATOR) they were loose. when i shoot up a steep hill if the plug dont faul it will blow white smoke. a lot of smoke. i freaked and shut the bike off quick and once shee cooled down i started it and it was gone. my coolant is good so its not that. my tranny oil level didnt change. i have a 160 main in the carb a dude here runs 165 and his is fine. i went from 170 to 168 to 165 to 160. the right plug is black (all of it) bad carbon. its thick. it kinda looks like it was painted black 10 times and dipped in gas. the left side is not so dark but not wet. my pilot is set all the way down. it goes as far as it could into the carb 5th clip, if its on 4 then 2 plugs go. it started doing this every time i first started, on idle only. maby one plug a day right or left side. it took turnes i guess. then i cleaned the pilot jet. i seen on here that if it has dirt or what ever in that it would act that way but now its bad. the carb is very clean. i love my bike lol. i realy do. and i`m talking in circles i think but i just dont know what to do next. i think i covered everything the best i can. i`m layed off all summer and its killing me. i found a guy on ebay that sells B8ES plugs for .99 all you pay is shipping lol. if you have advice please speak your mind. Thanks Quote
shee rips Posted July 21, 2007 Report Posted July 21, 2007 being the 2 into 1 setup it seems strange that it is only one side having the problem, or was it that it switched from side to side? what oil do you use? the way you describe the your plugs it sounds like too much and/or the wrong type of oil maybe Quote

91banshee Posted July 21, 2007 Report Posted July 21, 2007 how sure are you its not coolant , that thick cloud of white smoke could be antifreeze, when a motor heats up if the head is not sealed it can leak a little, enough to foul and plug and make it look awful i had one be fine for the first 15 mins of riding then it would bog and blow out white smoke and turn the plugs to gunk , it was the head gasket.even if you check your coolant level it may still look normal . 350BANSHEE350 Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 i was going to say if its only the right side then it is probably your crank seal but i dont know about the going up hill part confusing goodluck Quote

ziegman Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 Had the same prob as you several months ago. Take your stator cover off and check your pickup coil. The distance between the coil and the 2 notches on the flywheel should be 15-20 thousandths. Check it with a feeler guage. Quote
xXBlessedWithDeathXx Posted July 22, 2007 Author Report Posted July 22, 2007 Try dropping your Klotz Down to 32.1 I use Klotz 2 and that is how i mix mine 32.1 is to rich for me. since i put in the new crank i run at 40.1 or 44.1 this time i used 40.1 seeing i switched to klotz. when i use belray i run 44. bansheesmoke Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 I had a real similar problem you did with fouling plugs. It would foul them back and forth and in 15 minutes somtimes less. My problem was a bad stator. Try testing it with a multitester or swap in a known working one. Quote
Meat Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 do a compression test and report back. and for the record... ricky stators suck !! they once had a good name in the industry, now they don't. ya hear this Ricky ?? stop importing garbage and get back to quality. Quote

Don't confuse fuel ratios with air\fuel ratios. Quote
