Z04Banshee Posted July 8, 2007 Report Posted July 8, 2007 i think i have seen it done before, but i want to put a 5 inch monster tach right above the handle bars. 4 wires come out of the back of the tachometer. white-illumation, where does that go? red-power wire, but where does that go? black-ground-easy enough green-wheres that go? thanks for any help, pics would be great! . Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 well....it would be nice to have a tach, especially to look down at it a little bit to see where the powerband is coming on real well (for the most part you can feel it, but its still nice to be able to look as well) You'd have an easier bet getting a dyna ignition with a tach plug in Quote
Bansh-eman Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 you might look into a gokart style tach. you dont need anything special to run it. you can zip tie one lead to the spark plug wire and get that reading and then there is another lead that screws under your spark plug to get a temp reading. they have memorys with rad backs and all that on there.... dajogejr Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 Q's Why? I've actually been thinking of hooking up a tach too...I think It can be wired directly into my Dyna. If you bracket race...consistency is more important than overall speed.... Quote

Hit up a dyno and see where your motor starts falling off and make some shift points and chances are you will run faster more consistantly by staying in the peak power of the power band. Not to mention how much practicing launching RPM based can help. Quote
shee rips Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 ive also been considering getting one that you attach to the spark plug wire. there is the trail tech vapor computer. that has a tach, not sure how it hooks up but it works without anything else. it also has a speedo, temp guage, and it shows your top speed and all that cool stuff Quote
LIM_Whiteboy4life Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 (edited) um... take a gander at this lol http://www.dynaonline.com/english/atv_feat.htm nice info  Edited July 9, 2007 by LIM_Whiteboy4life Quote

You can wire up pretty much any tach that matches it's output wave and/or pulse form. You can probably buy a tach from Dyna as well. Quote
375hp banshees Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 there is An asphalt guy down here w/ A monster tach on his ...I've been looking into putting mine on my shee also... i agree w/ using it to see what rpm range in more productive & w/ a tach you can duplicate it closer for more accurate passes Quote

Am I way off here Mark? Quote
peak-j Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 Who the hell has time to look at a tach. LOL. I'd be all fucked up and wrapped around something if I even thought about looking at a tach. :yelrotflmao: Quote

It appears that I posted up a link without reading the page first. Tiny Tach makes a teach that looks just like those, but refreshes at .001Hz. That is not on their site anymore I guess. They were selling it has a Briggs & Stratton labeled racing instrument as well. Apparently I am not any help with the go kart style solution. Quote
