dynodon Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 (edited) Same here, Quick 16 all the way !!!!! Cant beat it. Whats wrong with switching to alky ?? the motor will run sooo much cooler than gas. Yeah its a little finiky when the cooler air drops, but you learn to deal with it. We have two dogs as well, but mamma would stay to the house for the road trips and watch the dogs!! LOL!!!! We have wedges and paddles, but an all out big boy event would be great !!!!! Keep us posted with it. Here is my new jockey on my quick 16!! LOOK out guys Edited June 26, 2007 by dynodon Quote
Speed freak Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Quick16 chassis. Damien is the builders name. I can get you contact info if you're interested in purchasing one. His frames are top notch, the welds are superb quality. There are a couple of quick16's chassis running at our track and they're the top performers. Here's Frank's 350, just some more eye candy It's naked in the pic, but he has a set of black plastics for it, just like his big bike just from looking at the pic the frame looks very well put together.if you can get me the contact info that would be perfect.. bigboybanshee Posted June 27, 2007 Author Report Posted June 27, 2007 Whats wrong with switching to alky ?? the motor will run sooo much cooler than gas. Yeah its a little finiky when the cooler air drops, but you learn to deal with it. I'm just basing my decision on the overall picture. With alky, I'm looking at best a 10% increase in power, have to convert the carbs, purge after each race, and buy two different fuels. Tuning is much more involved. If I stayed on gas and run nitrous, I can keep the same carbs, have up to a 50HP increase(although I'll never use more than 30), don't have to purge, only have to buy one type of fuel. Tuning is less involved, and gasoline is a little more forgiving than alky. Both cost roughly the same to do once all is said and done, so I figured I'd stick to gas and add nitrous, and right out the box will have more HP than switching to alky. It just seems to fit me better, and I think I'll have more gains in the long run going w/ nitrous and staying on gas, opposed to switching to alky. I know I could run alky and nitrous and have tremendous gains, but my margin for error is greatly reduced, and my wallet isn't deep enough this year...maybe next year :woot: Do you have any more pics of your banshee? It looks sick from what I can see in the pic  Quote
dajogejr Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Don't have to purge after every race.... I finally purged mine, had alky sitting in it since April. Believe it or not, carbs weren't that bad... However, since you're running a bottle, I'd stay with gas too. Actually...I'd buy a set of snomobile 39PWKs, run a fuel pump...and try it. I can get you a pretty good deal on carbs and a pump to run alky if you ever choose, Travis...but I agree, you will see more gain from NOS and gas than alky alone. NOS is more finicky to me than alky, though.... (since you have that dyna, you could always program an alky curve and a NOS/Gas curve...lol) Glad I made the switch to alky...but I have no NOS plans yet, just bigger motor plans...later on. Quote
bigboybanshee Posted June 27, 2007 Author Report Posted June 27, 2007 You're a brave soul Dave! I'm so picky about my bike I'd purge after every race...I change my oil every two races, fresh plugs every night of racing, lol. I about cried last week when we fried some of the PC on the subframe to re-weld my wheelie bar mount (broke off during a race  ). I'm actually thinking about totally re-doing the bike now because of it...just to give you an idea of how anal I am about the banshee I almost made the switch to alcohol before I bought the nitrous. I was actually looking at a set of lectrons for sale on PS. A couple weekends ago I was sitting in the staging lanes with a friend and we were talking, he reached down, made two quick turns, looked up and said he just bumped his mains up about 1 size. I couldn't believe how quick and easy it is to tune w/ lectrons. I've heard a lot of people say they prefer the keihins, and I'm more familiar w/keihins, I just can't get over how easy the lectrons appear to be Nitrous isn't quite as bad as most people think, it can be destructive real quick, but as long as you set it up properly and supply enough fuel it can be run with great success...I guess the same applies to alcohol, I'm just more familiar with nitrous and have several friends that have had a great deal of experience with it. I had one friend run an 80 shot on his Honda CRX for 2 years on all stock internals...all he did was set it up right  Before I go to a bigger engine I'm going to get an aftermarket frame. I think that alone will help me tremendously. It's a large chunk of dough, but for the hardcore racer, almost a must  Quote
dajogejr Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Yeah, I got a spot or two on the frame already... Left side pipe hit the frame a little...but, you can't see it unless the pipe is off the bike. Powerjets do the same thing...bascially on alky....little twist, more fuel. However, one day I'll try Lectrons. Just not yet.... If you get a quick disconnect, purging is a breeze. You just have to have 5 to 10 minutes of spare time...at the track or home, to let the gas run through it... Then drain the alky in the tank to a sealed can. I'm lucky enough to have my good buddy, who's helped me with almost 100% of my build, be very savvy in alky or I probably would've waited myself.... It's cool to see the sweat/condensation and sometimes frost on the intakes because of how cold alky runs.... Quote
dynodon Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Yeah, Everyone has to whats best for them forsure !!! Alky as dajogejr said, Just a twist of the power jet is all, maybe in an extreme case a pilot change. But definately runs cooler. I am worse than either of you two, I change plugs every race if not twice, change oil same night after races, and drain alky out w/ flush on the same night as races. Purging is really easy for me though. I have a seperate bung with a shut off for the draining part. The bike gets washed down with simple green, then dried, put back in garage and covered up with an old comforter ( putting her to bed as I call it) Then, the day following everthing gets polished back up again. So I am REAL anal with that bike to say the least I have close ups of the fiberglass paint and stuff/matching helmet. I will post some for ya later. site seems real slow right now Quote
dajogejr Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 A cover for your bike? Ok...yeah, you're way more anal than me... You might have had a stroke if you would've seen all the sawdust on my bike a few months ago when I was redoing the room right next to my garage.... Quote
dynodon Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 HOLY SHIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont even let my wife touch the damn thing unless she asks first, and of course I have to be present.. I was asked recently to have my bike in a photo shoot for a calander with girls in bikinis, My response was, I need to see pics of the girls first to be approved, and I WILL be present. I dont mind the pics and such, I just dont want any snail tracks on it, they are too hard to get off Quote
dynodon Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 O.K., I am NOT really that bad, the wife can touch the bike, But I still get antsy about it. She says "its just a bike" and that to me is an insult. But I do cover it every night!!!! Quote
bigboybanshee Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 Don, you're crackin me up!! I actually thought about covering mine up with a blanket but my wife would think I'm crazy....lol After hearing about you do it I just might start though, at least I know I won't be the only one!! People buy covers for their cars, why not the drag bikes  LMAO@ snail tracks :yelrotflmao: Thanks djackbanshee! Quote
