magunit420 Posted May 9, 2007 Report Posted May 9, 2007 I was towing my quad on my trailer and one of the tie downs got cut on a sharpe edge and my quaD rolled forward and hit the front end of the trailer...now ever since i have been leaking a tiny bit of tranny fluid....i cant seem to figure out where its comming from...its only on the right side and it looks like its occasionally leaking somewhere on top of my right pipe and dripping down to where the pipe makes the turn out of the motor....i have no idea where its leaking from....i cant find the spot....has anyone else had this problem? could it be the seal around the tranny and cylinder? i have no idea what it could be from there is no cracks or anything everything looks clean its really stumping me.... locogato11283 Posted May 9, 2007 Report Posted May 9, 2007 the only place tranny fluid can come out, if all your gaskets and what not are in place properly, is the rear vent tube. does yours still have all the stock venting?? i dont see how it can drop down onto your pipes.. can you clarify these things? picture maybe? wrecker03 Posted May 9, 2007 Report Posted May 9, 2007 Are your sure it's tranny fluid and not brake fluid, did you check your rear brake resevior for a possible crack? Just a thought Quote

RIPRuck Posted May 9, 2007 Report Posted May 9, 2007 Hey guys isnt the gear oil overfill hose routed to the top of the steering stem? I overfilled my gear oil on my banshee and my sons blaster once and it leaked onto my pipes. Look above your pipes in the steering stem area and you will see a hose with nothing on the end of it... I'm new to these bikes but pretty sure thats where it routes too but correct me if I'm wrong! Quote

How much does it take to fill the tranny with fluid isnt it like 1 and a half quarts or something like that? Edited May 10, 2007 by magunit420 Quote

I'm new to these bikes but pretty sure thats where it routes too but correct me if I'm wrong! good point. you must have put a boat load of oil in the case. it must be cause it looked like it was dripping from under the tank somewhere i thought it was dripping fromk the frame and i know its oil not anti freeze. How much does it take to fill the tranny with fluid isnt it like 1 and a half quarts or something like that? the best thing to do is to take the front plastic off and possibly the gas tank so you can look down where the oil is leaking on in order to find where it is leaking from. if you think it is the vent tube you should follow the routing and see if that's where it's coming from. if so, blow it out as best as you can with an air hose, re-install it and see if it leaks again.
