CRAZY-SHEE! Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 OK. This is my first post, but ive been reading this site for sometime now. Ive been reading up and im having some issues finding the answers to my questions. 1. IM going to be getting a port job for my banshee. It's got all the usual bolt ons. A single carb kit, pod filters, T-5's, a HD clutch, vf3's. I think I will have it done by trinity. They have a good setup. I do trails (fireroad trails) 2. Ill be getting the pro mx port job. Bottom end and mid range. 3. I will be getting a cool head, and i will be having the stock cylinders chromed. What size cool head should i get for sea level, a pump gas using quad? 4. do i need a lock up clutch? 5. i have +4 timing. Now im thinking with the combo or the port, the +4 timing, and the single carb kit, ( 35mm) that this thing is going to have an INSANE bottom end. Will I need an extended swinger for this? http://www.trinityracing.com/products/service/porting.html Thank you for your time. Quote
CRAZY-SHEE! Posted March 31, 2007 Author Report Posted March 31, 2007 I forgot to mention (ask) about my fuel tank. Everyone knows banshees get shitty gas mileage. I was going to go to an IMS 5.6 gallon fuel tank. For this do i need to get modified plastics? what do i need to do to get it too fit? cause id imagine the extra 2.6 gallon space doesnt come from nowhere. Quote
CenCalBanshee Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 yea trininty is not your best choice. my bike with bolt ons can nearly beat my cousins ''trinity bike''. i figure when i get jeff to port mine ill smoke his ass Quote
06BaNsHeE Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 jeff is a good builder but he has to many customers. When I wanted to get mine ported he told me it was a 3-4 month waite Quote
theshee Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 No trinity.... Ive heard their stuff does not run well. It will be worth the wait, have jeff do it. Quote
letsgetthisdone Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 If you're doing mostly fireroad trails you're gonna want a port job tailored towards midrange and top-end power. Only get the MX port if the trails you ride are really tight or if you ride MX often. Even if your trails have some slower section a dune port would work a lot better on the fireroads. If like the powerband of your T5's a dune port would have a similar powerband, just a shit load more power. And definetely don't go with trinity. check out these three guys....I talked to all of 'em when i was gonna do mine and I ended up going with Jeff. But like 06Banshee said, jeff is swamped rite now. I'd give all three of 'em a call and see who you like best and go with them, trinity is way overprice and they're gonna tell you thier stageIV pipes work good on everthing from an MX port to a 421 cub. www.farmandsandtoys.com (Jeff) www.herrjugsracing.com www.passionracingengines.com Quote
STROKERMAN Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 IV TRIED ALL DIFFERENT KINDS OF PORTING FROM DO IT YOUR SELF HOG OUT JOBS TO DENNIS PACKARD DRAG PORTED JUGS AND I HAVE TO TELL YOU THEY ALL MAKE MORE POWER. SOME MORE THAN OTHERS BUT NONE THE LESS MORE POWER IS MORE POWER! IF YOU ARE ASKING WHAT SHOULD YOU DO? IT IS A SIMPLE ANSWER. HAVE THEM PORTED BY SOME ONE WHO HAS PROVEN THEM SELVES LIKE K&T PERFORMANCE OR DENNIE PACKARD. WITH THAT SAID PORTING IS THE BEST WAY TO MAKE POWER ON A TWO STROKE. BUT TO BE COMPETITIVE IN THE MOTO-X WORLD YOU WILL EVENTUALY GO WITH A FOUR STROKE FOR IT UNSURPASSED WINNING STREAK IN THE NEW MX SCEENE. TAKE IT FROM ME. I HAD A YFZ WITH A 4MM STROKER FALICON KIT BIG SQUISH PISTION AND CAMS AS WELL AS BOONDOCKER DRY KIT FOR THE SAND AND I TRADED UP TO BANSHEE WITH A SMALL MOTOR I HAD K&T BUILD. NOW I COUDNT BE MORE HAPPY. BUT I SAND DRAG. NOT MX SO GOOD LUCK. AND ALWAYS WEAR A BRAIN BUCKET. Quote

If not suspension will be your best bet to buy first that way it can handle the power your motor will make later on down the road.....I also did this back asswards.....my motor first first and then suspension now I realize how stupid I was for not doing the suspension first.....Also I think LOCO on here has pretty much had a motor ported by any and every guy out there.....ask him and he'll prolly give you some tips...If I had to get another one done It would be by FAST I waited 4 months for my port job and when I got it back I understood Why I had to wait so long....it runs like a damned raped ape...that being said Why do you think Jeff is backed up so far?......Because his shit works! olmick Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 pm machwon on here, hes a really good porter with even better prices, i think its around 175 bucks for your choice of port, either dune or mx and you wont be dissapointed Quote
06BaNsHeE Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 While your at it port your cases to.Its only like 100 bucks and youll get like 4-5 more hp. Quote
letsgetthisdone Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 Well, when i talked to Jeff the first time he told me that he could tailor his mx port for midrange and topend instead of low and mid if i wanted to, but i went with the dune port instead. Just a thought. I really think a midrange-topend motor is gona be better for open fireroads. Quote
pokeatyou2 Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 if you still want to run pump gas go with 21cc domes Quote
bansheeboy02 Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 I just got my motor back from RDZ Racing with a level 2 port. I also ride in small to open trails, with rdz's port job the banshee gained power everywhere. It is excellent for small to wide open areas. Run 20cc domes, you don't need a lock up just heavy duty clutch and springs, I was told to run only 7 degrees advance. If you want a fun ride I would leave the swing arm the way it is. Rdz's port job hits ridiculously. Quote
CRAZY-SHEE! Posted April 1, 2007 Author Report Posted April 1, 2007 ok so no trinity... ill have to find somewherer else Quote
