bansheeyfz Posted December 2, 2006 Report Posted December 2, 2006 I really never hit sixth gear. so i would like a lilttle more low end. Tell me if im wrong. Front sprocket smaller=more low end Rear sprocket bigger=more low end What about Different tire sizes goin from 20's to 18's Quote
bansheeseat$$ Posted December 2, 2006 Report Posted December 2, 2006 yes you are right about the sprocket sizes.the 18 inch tires will work also but you will lose ground clearance.if you are running stock gearing 14/41 you may want to try 13/42. Quote
ToomeySheeLE Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 If your rear sprocket still has good looking teeth on it, save a few bucks and just get a 13T front at first, it alone will make a noticable difference. Also perhaps your losing alot of lowend with wheel spin, slapping some new rubbers on will make a major improvment. It depends what kind of riding you do as far as changing tire size.. I wouldn't ever use an 18inch rear.. be bashing the rear end off every other rock. Quote
bansheeyfz Posted December 4, 2006 Author Report Posted December 4, 2006 so if i go down one size to a 13 i get more lowend? Will i still have enough topend to push 6th gear though Quote

If your looking to improve your power all around you need to get some engine mods done, playing with the gearing and tire sizes just changes the way the power gets to the ground, not the overall power output. RIPPEN Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 Depending on how much lower you want to gear down I would think about changing the rear rather than the front sprocket. When going to a 13 the chain and sprocket will wear a bit quicker due to the tighter turn up front. Not to mention the increased drag of the slider becuase of the smaller sprocket... Just something to think about. RIPPEN Quote
Fastdadtsmith Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 Just for information, I've heard 1 tooth in front is equal to 3 in the rear. Quote
mobansheerider Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 take a look at the difference in ratio with different sprockets 14-41 = 2.92 13-41 = 3.15 13-42 = 3.23 14-42 = 3.00 May not seem like much numerically but, it plays a big role in how the bike hooks and tops out I have played with sprocket ratios for a long time to get the best power delivery for my purpose (sand drag only) and it takes time to get it right.
