I'm interested in the motor and radiator.
-
Just an invite, a few of us are planning to head out to Dumont on Saturday night June 23 for an overnighter. We usually arrive around 7:00 PM, ride till 3 or 4 AM, get some sleep, quick ride in the AM, then head home. There will be some fun/fast rides shooting the hill if anyone has some time to get a quick ride in.

Small part I don't want to order from the dealer. The piece that bolts to the top of the case and keeps clutch cable in it's place. Thanks....

Would these be a good dune/drag pipe on a stock bore/stroke cub motor?

I have tried a few different combo's and still not real happy with the results. I am back to 55 pilot, CEK mid clip, 168 main. When I had 155 main in it felt like it was falling off up top which I thought I was running out of fuel, but this sounds to be rich doesn't it? Still have not played with idle too much, very hard to start now. I am going to dyno it in a couple of weeks at a local shop who stocks plenty of jets, but they do not stock needles. I have a CEK, DEK, and CGL needles, I would like to take two or three others to try. Could you recommend any others to try? Also switched to Trinity pipes, good mid range, poor low and top. Thanks for all the input.

I saw some interest in the case but never saw if it sold. I would be interested if available.

When doing a Compression Test?
Fastdadtsmith replied to Turbobanshee_kid's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
***Important, make sure you have the throttle wide open when kicking. I don't know why, but last month I was going thru the same process and was told to keep throttle open. -
+4 blemished swingarm, real chrome, $125 shipped
Fastdadtsmith replied to CFM's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
I'd bite on a +4, chrome w/carrier. Thanks..... :woot: -
Just for information, I've heard 1 tooth in front is equal to 3 in the rear.

No, that would be beyond me. I have rebuilt top ends plenty (maybe 8-10 times, and have learned a lot from reading this forums responses. I have never split a case before, and if it were $200 +/-, I would pay somebody to do it.

My sons quad, dune port, 2 into 1 carb, CPI's, works shocks, +4 swing arm. He let his older brother take it to "The Hill" when he came back he said he kept missing 2nd gear. I rode it and 2nd gear feels like it is skipping. No raddle, just a skip like some teeth are gone. My son is no racer, but I would really like to pony up for the 2-5 duneable override. Is this something a backyard mechanic (with new compression gauge LOL) can rebuild? Or, what kind of money should it cost to have new trans installed by a reputable builder. I have no problem shipping across the great plain!!

Lone Star +4 Roundhouse Swinger
Fastdadtsmith replied to Bansh-eman's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
Is the +4 sold? -
Thanks for all the advice on this thread. Banshee ran GREAT. A little lean after first plug chop, went up on the main and it ran great all week. Never hot, started within three kicks even when cold, def need a longer swingarm now. Again, thanks for the advice, much easier typing then throwing wrenches!!!!!

Thanks for the help guys. I bought a new compression tester yesterday, 175 lbs both cylinders. Still have idle trouble, but response is there, everything sounds good. I am going to ride next week and play with jets, any recommendations? I am currently at 48 pilot, CEK mid clip, 155 main. Sure sounds and feels good down the street, Dumont next week for testing and 4 stroke munching!!!!

Thanks dajogejr for all the input. So to clarify the low compression numbers I need to look at piston number for correct model? Any other areas that could be giving me low compression, and still run OK? I will be testing with gauge #3 tomorrow to verify. :shoothead:

[Would it be such a bad thing to run squish where it is now? I'm just lacking the compression and not getting all out of it? I'll pull the head off again and yes I can still see the numbers on the pistons, I'll post them up asap. Would a cylinder gasket that is .010 thinner build up compression by 60 lbs, or should I be looking for another problem even though it runs great after about 4500 rpm?

Timing is +6, elevation is 2500 ft. I have other quads that require good gas, so I run straight C-12 with Super M @ 40-1. Have never lost a piston yet (after getting jetting correct). I haven't heard any detonation yet but my ears could be bad from all the 70's and 80's hard rock. Is there a better way to LOOK for signs of detonation before I see and feel it?

I have been playing with a new motor, cub cylinders, 34 pj's, Noss head, 16cc domes,FMF pipes. The guy I bought it from said it was a long rod motor, but I have my doubts. Compression was low at 112 lbs with 18 cc domes. I have not checked yet with new domes. Squish clearance with 18's was .054 and .057. With 16 cc domes squish is .053 in both cylinders. When it ran with 18's, it lacked bottom end, but when it hit, HOLD ON!! I have been talking with DL Noss about domes, but I am a little confused on how to reduce squish clearance to hopefully raise compression. I would like to see about 160-175 lbs. Also, how to check stroke? Thanks for the help.....

OK, more testing completed. I switched needles to a CEK, mid clip, top clip, bottom clip. Pilot jet to a 48, left the main alone for safety, no difference. I played with the carbs for a full day today and ended very frustrated. Then I went down the street and borrowed a compression gauge to find I only have 115 psi in both cylinders. I have the Noss head with a spacer plate, maybe the spacer plate is the problem? But could you re-visit your jet recommendations based on these numbers, or am I in compression denial? Thanks....

Thanks for the input. I had read many posts from you recommending the CEK needle so I just received a CEK and a DEK. I'm going to try these, but after running up and down the street a few times discovered coolant coming up my head bolts, no o-rings on hand, so I'll wait for them to come. Do you have a clip position suggestion? Thanks again....... Sorry wesw, just read it again, "mid clip" ........

I am a first time poster, and need your help with jetting. I have a 65 mm cub cylinder, 5mm long rod crank, mossberger reeds, Noss Head, 18 cc domes, PJ 34's, CGL needle on 5th clip, 168 main, 55 pilot, 8 degrees advance, FMF Gold pipes (I know from reading they're next to go) want to go T-5's I think for all around ride. I can not get it to idle. Have tried air screw everywhere from 1/2 turn to 6+ turns at 1/2 turn increments, and it will not idle. If I crack the throttle just a hair, stays smooth, and revs instantly. No hesitation. I have not ridden yet, so I do not know how it will do under a load. I'm at 2500 ft, do not have a compression number yet. Thanks for looking....

Will these work with 33 PWK's, or are boots replaceable accordingly? Thanks....
