Hollister_Hitman Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 Well my bearings went out in the rear, i have never rebuilt a banshee rear before, anyone have any advice on it? The carrier right? Not the swingarm? If it is the carrier your in for a fight. LEt it soak in some pb blaster for as long as possible. Then get a big ass hammer to beat the axle out. Some guys install a grease zerk on the carrier also so that The bearings will last longer Quote
bansheefreak Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 if the bearing is trashed you shouldnt have a problem getting axle out but getting the races off the axle will be a bitch get a dremel or something... Quote

FasterThanU90 Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 its not hard to disassemble prop up the bike take off the wheels with a 14mm then take off the hubs i think its a 22mm then take off the axle nuts and it should slide right out off the top of my head Quote

I would leave the right side hub on so that you can put a pipe on it and hammer the axle out. If your axle bearing came apart wich mine did the axle will be jammed in. The ball bearing came out of mine and were wedged in causing th eaxle to get locked in Quote
addicted Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 Well my bearings went out in the rear, i have never rebuilt a banshee rear before, anyone have any advice on it? The penitrating oil is a great idea. I soak it overnight and then put heat to it with a propane torch (rinse it off first obviously). When it starts to cool, smack them out. The heat makes a big difference. Quote

LiftdT4R Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 When I put mine back on, I tapped a grease fitting into the carrier, and I also put some anti-seize on the splines of the rotor hub and sprocket hub. Should be a little easier, to take apart next time that way. Quote
olmick Posted November 24, 2006 Author Report Posted November 24, 2006 Did your axle slide out or did you have to pound it out? pounded it with the sledge hammer Quote
Hollister_Hitman Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 pounded it with the sledge hammer Were the ball bearings out of the sleeves and rolling in the carrier? Quote
